Jim Burt was also an extremely underrated player because he played alongside fantastic defensive linemen and outside linebackers such as Leonard Marshall, George Martin, Lawrence Taylor, and Carl Banks.
Vince Wilfork was an extremely underrated player because he played alongside other defensive linemen and outside linebackers such as Richard Seymour, Ted Washington, and Willie McGinest.
Anthony McFarland was also an extremely underrated player because he played alongside other defensive linemen and outside linebackers such as Warren Sapp, Simeon Rice, and Derrick Brooks.
My son is a nose guard & makes awesome plays & you are so right. They don’t get the credit deserved. I don’t understand why they don’t get invited to the combine. Granted he goes to a NAIA school, however he has set records there. Check out #97 MBU! His final eligibility was last season.
Kelly Gregg. Long time great Raven and former Oklahoma Sooner. I think state champion wrestler in high school too. He was always my favorite Nose Tackle.
Yes, 1 techs are usually nose tackles. But no, they are not considered a defensive tackle in a 4-3. DT's and noses are different. Their role in a defensive line is different. DT's are your Deforest Buckner, Aaron Donald, Chris Jones, and those type of dudes. Now you can have both your interior guys in a 4-3 be DT's, kinda like you can have two running backs instead of a running back and a full back. It comes down to how that specific scheme is run.
They don't get any love in the game of today because it's a passing league more and more. U have to be able to get after the qb that's the name of the game
@Passused Vince Wilfork was probably the first dude to pop up 😭. I'm friends with a lot of big dudes who play nose Tackle so I got a lot of second hand knowledge.
I believe Casey Hampton was a better Nose tackle than Vince. Vince never played on a number one defense or even had a number one ranked run defense. Nose tackle sole purpose is clog shit up and stop the run 😊
Casey Hampton was also an extremely underrated player because he played alongside defensive linemen and outside linebackers such as James Harrison, Joey Porter, and Lamar Woodley.
That might depend on who you ask. I would think Vince just bc he played more recently, has more accolades, and has more of a social media presence. Ik recently that one picture of Gilbert Brown has been going viral.
As a defensive lineman, I appreciate this video

Nose Tackle aka Middle Guard can often be used in the 3-4 defense. Another underrated position is Fullback on offense.
Kris Jenkins in his NY Jets days is still my fave NT of all time. There was nothing that man couldn't do. #UptownBaby

Dexter Lawrence, DJ Reader, and Grady Jarrett - Clemson is Nose Tackle U
The most underrated position in football is punter. Football is a game of field position!
Jamal Williams San Diego Chargers...best NT in NDL history
Think kicker and long snapper most underrated position followed by center and nose tackle
I played all 4 my senior year of hs only specializing in college
Michael pierce easily a monster
There is no better position than everything on the DL!
We had a big dude play nose and when we ran 5-2 against a run heavy team that QB was fighting for his life he got 5 sacks that game
How about other Nose Tackles such as Tony Siragusa, Anthony McFarland, and Jim Burt?
Aren’t 1 techs nose tackles? and they play in 4-3 and are still considered DTs

I'm a de and my coach put me as nose tackle. I'm so undersize and had to use my speed lol
That's how it is sometimes 😂. Fighting against those 300 pound guards and centers who usually are going to end up double teaming you.
@@limitless_pulls Bro the struggle is real lol I got a sack and 2 tackles I really had to out smart these big guys lol 🤣🤣🤣
@@limitless_pullsI really had to look up what nose tackles do lol

@@limitless_pulls I'm going tag you in a short and tell me if this was a fumble

Stats vs super bowl wins. They gave up less in the play offs
Casey Hampton was also an extremely underrated player because he played alongside defensive linemen and outside linebackers such as James Harrison, Joey Porter, and Lamar Woodley.
Jamal Williams was better
What about Gilbert brown? I think he is more famous than Wilfork.

Gilbert Brown wasn't even the best Nose Tackle of his era, it was Ted Washington.
How about Tony Siragusa, Anthony McFarland, or Jim Burt?
