Listened for the second time, the perfect mixture of detection, romance and psychology
Oh damn you Chesterton Radio. It's 2.00AM in the morning, im supposed to be asleep and ive found another classic. Now im wide awake. Bad Chesterton, but thankyou immensely. Louise Australia 🇦🇺 😊😊
I enjoy listening to these plays when I’m doing housework. It makes the job go quicker so that can only be a good thing!!
Thank you from Sydney Australia..We have another lockdown and these stories make me smile and forget all the troubles that are going on.
Totally with you, Barbara 👍 we are in our 6th lockdown too just south of the border here in Melbourne. Radio dramas are helping to keep me sane. thankyou mr C!! (I mean there are only so many times I can polish the coffee table and make so many crochet granny squares without your terrific dramas to listen to,hehe) 😘
Love English mysteries ,,,takes me back to when I lived in England…loved it. Thank you from Littleton, Colorado USA
English murder mystery stories are hugely popular down under too. We love them. Hi from Oz! 👇🙃💜
Another absolute gem. Thank you, Chesterton radio ! I am housebound and find these plays such great entertainment, so you can imagine how much they mean to me.
Thanks for these wonderful stories. I have trouble seeing so reading is very difficult. This is an answer to my prayers 🙏😇
I have the same problem Kathleen, and I have been delighted with these Chesterton radio plays. First class 🙂👍
Wow same here. Love these stories
Same here too, these uploads are a gift. 🌺🌸👍
Same here, and to be honest I don't have the patience.
If I'm having a good day I listen then do a practical thing.
Kindest Wishes Xxx
These are great stories,my sight is bad and I have trouble sleeping due to pain so very enjoyable!! Thank you ☺️
The quality of the acting is brilliant! Wow! What skills these actors / actresses have.
Uiiiiiiiikllpllp
Indeed. But they were from a generation of actors who had spent many years in Rep before
graduating to Radio / TV and film.
Unlike today's crop - who seemingly go straight from Drama
School to " stardom " ! Their complete lack of technique is apparent as soon as they actually
attempt to do any genuine "acting ' !
ThanQ for a surprising little story once again . Wouldn't have managed lockdown in South Africa without these gems
Helps in Namibia too!
@@Paxtonparsnip montana USA also ... stay safe everyone!
Helps where I am too but Liverpool sounds so mundane compared to Montana, Namibia and where I've been a couple of times South Africa. I hope this finds u all well?
Love the way you spell ‘thank you’. Never thought of that way before.
Went down a treat here in Ulan
Bator too !
Wonderful. Thank you !
Ms Plowden sadly passed away in 2007 at the age of 76. From the early 60s
until late 70s she wrote many historical plays for the BBC. Mainly based on the
Tudor / Elizabethan Age . Her " crime " output was much smaller but included
this entertaining little gem . ( Broadcast in 1973 )
🇬🇧 Brilliant. Thank you
Absolutely delightful 😊
What a treat!
Excellent - thank you
Thank you from Portugal !
Muito obrigado !
Excellent listening for a long night. Helped me finally to fall asleep. Many thanks!

Really enjoyed this play.Thank you.
Well that has convinced me that a life in c.i.d. was not for me because yet again I failed to predict the murderer . Many thanks Chesterton Radio for another gem.
Any consultation, nor did I. Had the boyfriend fingered myself. These really are "gems" takes the chore our of the ironing!
Excellent
I can do housework n listen to these Old mysteries 💜
Thank you for making me enjoy life again 🌈
I don't usually listen to or view adaptations because of the way the plots are changed. However, this scriptwriter did a very good job sticking to the plot as it was written. "Henrietta Who?" is one of my favorite books by Catherine Aird. Thanks so much for giving me an enjoyable listening experience!
I enjoyed this very much!
Awesome story thank you for posting 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I really love these, they don't have coarse language. The story is engaging, the characters have wonderful diction. Cheers Rosemary Perth Western Australia (70 yrs)

Thanks Uncle Chesterton......I really Enjoyed that one. it was a PLEASURE. Pity about the 8 hour long denouement ha'. Oh ! and -BTW-don't forget Uncle Chesterton......it's the All-Hinterton and Lower Brockton Stone-Skipping 'Festi' this weekend and my Lottie has made-up the back bedroom for you and Auntie Elvira ( and made some of that Date and Cheese curry that you and Aunt Ellie enjoy so much ) .....see you tomorrow Unc.

@@janetcw9808- Of course Janet ! ....just mssg my Aunt Ellie @ 33 The Willows, Lower Brockton, Borsetshire.
The ‘happy ending’ is way too complicated....but helped me to fall asleep during first listening....☺️
Yes....I agree.
I was a little lost . I have always had difficulty keeping characters' names and identities straight so thought it was just my usual confusion! Hi from Oz! 👇🙃💜
👏 very pleasant!

Thanks for listening! Glad you enjoy the play
Thanks
Just got to this one
Been a subscriber to your channel for quite a while. Just want to say thank you for all the hours of entertainment you have brought my way.
Thank you for your kind comments. The positive response to these shows is still really an unexpected surprise. I enjoy sharing them. Thank you!
I really enjoy the stories they are a very pleasant alternative to television and I don't have any books to read so this is a great way to get stories that I never knew excited
Really enjoying these old radio programmes If you were able to supply dates of broadcast that would be great though in this case I guess it is 1965.
Nice intro. For 1 minute.
I loved the music at the beginning. Does anyone know who wtote it?
These aren't the Who's in Whoville who like Christmas a lot.
This is a Saturday Night Theatre drama production from Saturday, 13th October, 1973 adapted by Alison Plowden from the novel by Catherine Aird (source Genome).
A woman is found on a roadside bend presumably the victim of a "hit and run" driver. The victim is identified by her daughter, Henrietta. However, a little later, the pathologist rings the Police Inspector and is adamant that couldn't possibly be the case, as the deceased had never had children...oh....and the contents of her writing bureau had been evidently disturbed by a burglar looking for something important to the interloper and just before Henrietta's 21st birthday. Features Ciaran Madden as the eponymous Henrietta Who ? of the title and Alan Rowe as Inspector Sloan with a young Nigel Anthony as PV Crosby.
Thank you!
@@FiFi-wt9zj No problem. Where's Tottie Mae when we really need her.....? 🤔
@@stewartmcardle8149 😀...yes she’s been quiet lately
@@FiFi-wt9zj She's the Maestro of the synopsis and I bow to her superior talents...I'm too long winded.... 😀
@@stewartmcardle8149 be assured you are appreciated 🙂
Not a real spoiler, just bemused.
Few minutes in.... Willful ignorance on the part of the author; adoption never crosses any characters minds. Hmmmm 🤔
I was JUST going to say that! 😉
It was the 'there are no fingerprints' then 'it's covered in fingerprints'.... 🤔.
But I've enjoyed this.
Good wishes x

Love the mansplaining all the way through,
Really. You mean the police taking charge and explaining and investigating? Clearly someone should EXPLAIN what MANSPLAINING is, This is a work of fiction, Relax.
