Thank you for this detail! I thought there was a deeper reason 😆

so originally Claudia was 5-6 in the books, but due to New Orleans labor laws, they had to make the character a bit older (14-15)

The smile barely left your face the entire episode - so glad you love Claudia and that you found their family dynamic both comical and endearing! This show is now one of my firm favourites and I can't wait for S2! And although Bailey's unable to continue the role, I've no doubt that Delainey is going to kill the role too! Great reaction!

Haha that was truly my favourite episode!! We’ll just have to see about the new Claudia! 🤞🏽

Brooo… something just hit me watching your reaction! Louis absolutely Could’ve made Claudia a vampire,
but because of his diet his strength may have not been up to par & resulted in a weaker fledgling.
But the thing that Hit me is Louis might have purposely begged Lestat to make her, so that he & Claudia could share a telepathic bond that Lestat would be excluded from because he is their maker!! 🙊
*** also, I feel it’s fair warning to say that while I adore the novels, the show has updated (even changed /improved several things) . The spirit is the same but different. Anne Rice wrote Interview in the 70’s as a way to deal with the terrible grief of losing her daughter. Louis in the novels is a white creole plantation owner , so things are filtered through that lens. Also with it being the 70’s when the book was written the tension/ love/ hate between the characters is more subtle/homoerotic . Which was still pretty revolutionary for the time. As the books & time went on I think she became more comfortable explicitly conveying that Louis & Lestat were/are in love & her vampires range all over the LGBTQ spectrum. The very last book she wrote in the Vampire Chronicles before she passed away came out in 2018 . So it was pretty current with time. Just wanted to give context. 😂

That is a really good THEORY! And it does make sense that the adaptation embraces the queerness of the story better than the original. Different times, a bit more accepting, I guess. I can’t wait to read them and see all the differences…

I’m actually gutted that Claudia won’t be played by Bailey Bass in the next season 😭

It was a big blow but I already LOVE Delainey and I know she's gonna kill it 🩸 She's being highly praised by critics and reviewers 💜

just to let you know the first season is only the first part of the book and the second season will cover the rest. also i've read the first three books and in my opinion the show is better so far, it's different in a lot of ways )

Huge improvement! I adore the books & have since I first read them in 2010. The show takes it to an entirely new height, while honoring the spirit of the story & these characters. I honestly hope we get a stellar Queen of the Damned season. Hell… 2 or 3 lol

Oooh I love when that rarely happens! Most novel adaptations aren’t as good as the original, but I’m glad this one is! ✨

I am a huge fan of the books, but I do think the show improves on them. The first book covers the first *two* seasons, so I would highly recommend waiting until after season 2 to read it.

It's probably already been said, but they all have different eye colours. Lestat's is blue, Louis' is green and Claudia's is red. I'm commenting to keep you in my algorithm bc although I'm subbed, CZcams is not sending me your notifications. So I have to keep searching to see if you've posted.

Thank you! Just seen your comment! Honestly, CZcams can be so buggy! And let me not get started on the Studio app for creators… I rarely get notifications if anyone posts anything 😓

Oh, your thoughts on the film is going to be interesting. I think i mentioned this before, but with the film being written by Rice herself, its interesting seeing how the story was updated originally.
With this series, i cant really comment on how much Rice was involved in the process. Spoke to someone who was in her close circle and it seems like Rice wasnt too aware of things before her death. Given how her son wont comment on the series (or Mayfair), i have a feeling she would of not likes it at first but would of turnes around.
At least it isnt like what happened with Queen of the Damned. Straight washed vampires are boring, lets say that much.
But honestly, im loving seeinf your reaction to this and hope to see you dapple in the other flavors of her work.

Lestat was such a hypocrite the way he was insensitive with Claudia about Charlie's death, saying "This is why we never get close to mortals". As if Louis wasn't a mortal when he stalked and turned him. I see you Lestat... what's good for the goose ISN'T good for the gander when it comes to you.

Big difference there though as Lestat can control his instincts and was in love with Louis and was planning to turn him. He gave him a choice. Claudia just couldn't control her hormones and vampire instinct

Yes there's a big important rule when it comes to making vampires never turn children there's a big reason for this
