    To the people picking holes in this lady's performance, I have this to say: in my 3 acre garden I have hundreds of orchids of many different types. I love them all, even though they are not all identical. So this girl has a different interpretation? So what? It is different - just relax and enjoy it. I am - gratefully.

    I'm in love with her. She literally flings the notes from her fingers and intones the movements with every expression on face and movement of her body. She gives it all to orchestra and they in turn give it back to her. A true Crescendo of power of talent all around as rarely seen any where on in any endeavor.

    The second movement left me speechless, overall one of the best renditions of Tchaikovsky 5th I've seen. The conductor breaths and feels the music.

    • @chambermuses7802
      @chambermuses7802 Před 3 lety +7

      Indeed, Maria. Thank you for drawing our attention to the 2nd... it is not merely "sad", but conveys a human fragility and vulnerability that is exquisite. The horn player seems to speak "de profundis", almost a prayer... And how can anyone say (as sadly some do) that Alondra "doesn't know how to shape a phrase"?

    • @adipsous
      @adipsous Před 2 lety +1

      I loved her fierce, passionate, urgent tempo (after the 26 minute time on the video) leading up to the climax and emotional (fake out) relief/release before the last surprise return of the devastating fate motif. That whole section, and leading up to it was incredibly done. Some would fault the tempo as being too ardent and impetuous. This is Tchaikovsky. A restrained, mature, 'musical' approach is valid. But you can never go too far or too passionate - even losing some control - with interpreting moments of music meant to portray the range and level of feelings and psychological/emotional/spiritual conflict like this piece does.

    Señora de la Parra is one of the most exciting classical musicians working. She had the orchestra and audience in her hands. The second movement was particularly well done.
    Even the "curtain calls" were special. She didn't merely gesture the principal players to stand; she gave them hugs! She knows how to value her players.
    Well played, Maestra!

      Each of the complementary expressions here are not exaggerations. Every work under Alondra’s baton is a winner, considering the legacy of the many giants that precede her. Alondra de la Parra nous offre une superbe interprétation de la symphonie n°5 de Tchaïkovsky. Pour le quatrième mouvement, elle nous offre un final éblouissant, très "Tchaïkovskien". Une brillante réussite. Sa façon de faire applaudir ses chefs de pupitre est originale. De plus elle dirige comme une femme et non comme malheureusement certaines de ses collègues qui dirigent inutilement comme des hommes. Un GRAND BRAVO à cette cheffe.

    No existe mayor prueba o testimonio que los resultados, en una sociedad por demás misojena, en una sociedad llena de violencia, de guerras, de hambre y de injusticias, pocos son rincones, recaudos y los consuelos que permiten que nuestra alma y nuestra mente se llenen de paz, en mucho tendrá que ver la partitura, los instrumentos, el sitio ... pero lo relevante es quienes producen las armonías, melodía o sinfonía .... los músicos ... muchísimas felicidades a todas ellas y ellos y en especial a Alondra ...quién es un verdadero orgullo para nuestro México.

    Es percepción mía o en los conciertos siempre hay alguien con un ataque de tos?

    El día en que yo vea a alguien del genio de Alondra de la Parra dirigir la Filarmónica de Berlín (o de Viena, en su defecto) en una obra importante (pongamos la Novena de Beethoven o la Octava de Mahler), entenderé que las cosas han cambiado de verdad :S

    Puro talento directivo, orgullosamente 🇲🇽. Ahora ya nada más falta que se componga alguna sinfonía para pasar a la eternidad 🎶

    Who is the bearded guy playing the timpani at 15:00 ? I thought Tim Corkerin was the principal timpanist of the orchestra

      Fraser Matthew is playing the timpani here. You are correct, Tim Corkeron is our Principal Timpani, but as you can imagine, Tim can't perform in *every* concert! Thanks for watching.

    Hi, just one question. I really don't know anything about orchestras but... I was wondering if anyone from the orchestra could be a conductor or what kind features must have a person to be a the leader. I mean, what makes a difference between a conductor and a musician from a orchestra?

      To be a great conductor, one must not only be able to feel the music in the highest degree, but also be able to communicate that to the musicians playing under his/her baton. Of course all great conductors are naturally great musicians, I once went to a lecture where Wolfgang Swavalish was playing Richard Strauss on the piano from looking at the complete orchestral score, but be great communicators too. It's like having the qualities of being introverted and extroverted at the same time, so it is a very rare person who makes a great conductor. Not sure if this is making much sense, it's not easy to put into words but figured I'd try at any rate...

    I could definitely see the camera persons hates the flutes, or they just don’t know what sounds the flute makes.
