That will be one day the song on my funeral. Love it!

truely unique! after listening several versions of this song, still the Corries are the most expressive, they have the most soul to put in it (as well as in other songs), and it always gives me a little heartbreak that Roy cannot sing for us anymore. the angels are more fortunate right now... I had to go listen to several versions of this one to figure out which was the best. The Corries are definitely the strongest and most interesting. Love it.

There are so many versions of this song, and it's really such a spectacular tune in every case. I think this particular recording by the Corries is my favourite of theirs, but I also adore the arrangement by the Masterless Men.
Mingulay is an incredible story in itself I think - somehow, two thousand years ago, some intrepid scots ancestors thought this barren rock in the middle of the ocean would be a grand place to live lol They stuck it out for two thousand odd years before abandoning it in 1912, and while I can't blame them for it, I also can't help but thinking there was an element of bitter-sweetness to their departure. The island has a certain haunting, desolate beauty about it that can't be denied. Long live Scotland the Brave!

I do this song in D. I just worked out from this that the Corries do it in G. That's one hell of a high note they've got their audience hitting!

I Note That The Folk Duo
The Corries (on the web youtub3)
Don't allow comments on their stuff, these days, and as travelled and outspoken as they used to be, seems to be a bit odd
    No subs either
Although some of the stuff has been jazzed up a bit. Sound quality etc and etc
