- Many things went wrong in the Boxing Day Test of 'Ashes 2010/2011' including the argue of Australian Captain Ricky Ponting with the Pakistani Umpire Aleem Dar.
Aleem Dar is the only umpire who showed the world that human is still precise than machine. Both captains challanged his decisions in the last matches of 'Ashes' under the rights of UDRS but failed to change the decision.
Good temperament shown by the umpire.Truly professional and world class umpire.
Aleem Dar has been a wonderful ambassador for Pakistan cricket and Asia cricket. Hats off to him.

After the Third Umpire decision Aleem Dar is not bound to give any explanation to Ponting. But still he tried to explain. Ponting acting like a kid insisting for a second chance for nothing. :). Welcome to "Big Three".

Punter was always a big SOOK‼ KP never hit it anyway. Even heat-hotspot or snicko-meter at the time when it was shown live, could not pick anything up. So Punter could not prove it. Even the bowler never went up to appeal. Haddin wanted the review, and even Healy (the ex-Aussie wickie -- being the commentator) was going on saying, "nah, that was out... you've gotta give that!". I remember when he was playing had appeal for such decisions when the batsman didn't hit it - and the batsman would stand around in amusement, knowing that he never hit it. But had to walk. Even Ponting who took over from another cheat of 'Steve Waugh', would always be in the batsmen's face and point 'upclose' to the batsman of where to go. Or tell them to their face that they're lieing. (He looked as if to say, "meet me later and I'll fix u up!")
Btw, didn't Punter 'grope' an Indian female reporter during an Aussie tour to India of the 2nd half of the 1990's or was that a misunderstanding of the Aussie Murdoch media⁉️ He even groped a Tranny up at the "Bourbon & Beefstake" - a bar in Sydney's Kings Cross at the turn of the century & millennium. He never got charged for those misdemeanors, as the media 'swept it under the carpet'. Even if u touch someone now (not just grope or touch their genitalia [even a slight brush touch of a woman's tits - by accident] or their leg or even shoulder), u can be charged for such -- if she's not your partner.
Well Ponting was not acting like a kid... a kid have genuine concerns.... Ponting was behaving like a typicle Dickhead Aussie player.... who thinks when he review a decision it should be in his favour.... coz they know everything.....

Utterly ridiculous. Ponting's behaviour was unacceptable and worthy of censure. But a lifetime ban if an Indian had done it? Don't be silly.

The only thing that was stunning about it, was that he saw all these details with needing the instant replay, infared or Snicko. Any other umpire probably would have given him out without even thinking about it.

Ponting: How the hell can you give it not out when I or my team says its out? We say its out then its out.
When any of the umpire, on field or 3rd or 4th, give their final decision...THAT IS THE FINAL DECISION. You cant argue over that. Its a rule. Players dont have any control over that decision besides challenging it with DRS wherever it can. Ponting, irrespective of how great of a batsman he was, was a dipshit. Have respect to umpires and their decisions. And this is not a first instance of him arguing like this with the umpire.

His brain and eyes process so many things all at once and still gives out correct decisions. Umpiring is not an easy job.

Aleem Dar is a fantastic umpire!
Put simply, only Haddin appealed, Aleem Dar had no reason to dismiss him, nobody else appealed, so he called not out. Ponting challenged this, and the rule of DRS is to give the benefit of the doubt to the on-field umpire. Unless it is conclusive that the decision was wrong, the decision stays. There is no evidence of an edge, not out. Ponting just has to accept this - the third umpire has more data to observe. Its sad that you have to rely on questionable calls like this to dismiss them - man up and be good enough to take wickets without any shadow of a doubt. Don't abuse the umpire because he didn't dismiss the batsman on a very tough call where there is no evidence it was hit.
