New offense with kubiak and that’s all we needed DA always has the D playing well, Pete was no doubt the worse play caller in the league last year and most bland one to, keep hating but at the end of the day we aren’t going to regress with kubiak at OC. The Saints are an extremely undervalued asset.
Last season, they had the 8th best point differential in the entire NFL, meaning, they should’ve won more games than 9.
Those type of unstable stats usually means they’re primed for a rebound.
If they have the 8th best point differential this season, you’re probably looking at 11 or 12 wins.
They are also changing the offense, with Klint Kubiak running the Kubiak/Shanahan scheme, which is pretty easy to hit the ground running with, see the Houston Texans last season.
It’s also heavily focused on the run game, which was the Saints biggest offensive weakness last season, removing Taysom Hill’s runs which were almost 100% from the QB position, the run game would’ve ranked 31st in the NFL, so it didn’t help the pass game which finish around Top 10 in 2023.
So even if the passing game stays the same, if the run game can get to 15th, you’re looking at a Top 5 offense.
Since Dennis Allen became the Saints Defensive Coordinator, their defense has been consistently really good and there’s no reason to think they’ll fall off this season.
I’m picking the Saints to win the AFC South & make some noise in the playoffs, potentially playing in the NFC championship game.

The big problem with the shift in scheme offensively is that you will probably see a regression in OL play, due to shift from more of a gap/power run oriented offense to a zone run oriented offense. There are OL that are good in one and bad at the other, and we don’t really know how that will pan out for the Saints. (Also, More than Half of the Teams in the league run a variation of this offense, which in theory will make it easier to defend over time)
@@kghostthegreat That’s possible, however, if there was one thing I learned growing up in Colorado where the scheme was invented was your favorite team should NEVER sign an OL man or RB as a Free agent from Denver, unless you run the exact same scheme, because it was so specific.
Denver could have All-Pro RB’s & OL men, that would probably be cut playing in a different scheme or Vice versa, meaning, if the Saints OL & RB can do the very specific techniques at a high level that this scheme requires, their OL could go from being below Average to great, without adding any “great” players, but by asking the players they have to do something they are naturally better at, if that happens to be the case, or else they’ll need to get different players?

Saints HC is one of the best defense play callers in the league. The new OC is from the Kyle Shanahan system, and Carr is a good QB for that system. Kamara about to thrive in it too along with T Hill, and Olave is a upcoming star WR. The offensive line is the unknown here. The defense has a proven player at every level. They finish the season strong with a former OC that was incompetent, betting the Bucs by more than a TD and the Falcons game was a beat down by the Saints. Keep sleeping though

The Oline has been a bit revamped so I expect that 29th ranked yards before contact to tick up a bit. If not, it will be another ugly year.
People look at outliers like KC or Buffalo as pass pass pass (ignoring their top 15, 10 for KC, yards before contact/YPC run games) but ignore Carr is a fringe top 10 guy. Like Tua, Purdy, Hurtz, etc you need to run the ball efficiently. Not relying on early down runs a majority of the time
Its funny because carr is top 10 stat wise every year since 2019 and they act as if he was a scrub but put players like Kamara and olave as stars when they are producing stats out of the top 20 in their positions
Even as a Saints I have limited optimism for this season. To your points: they're offence is inconsistent with Carr either playing like a pro bowler or playing like Zach Wilson. The only way the Saints have a double-digit win season is if Carr and Olave are on the same page all year and/or the defence plays lights out.

The Saints are loaded with talent at the skilled positions on offense and defense. The question for the Saints is the offensive line who struggled last year, if they improved up front, which it seams they did, they're going to win the division and this video won't age well. I think they'll go 10 -7 or 11 - 6. The first 6 weeks of their schedule is tough though.

as a saints fan I kinda agree with your take, but the offense is definitely not boring, yes, they have derek carr, but thats the only issue with our offense, he doesn't know how to scramble and waits too long to throw the ball, especially with underrated weapons like shaheed and chris olave, not only that but now with cedrick wilson who'd be a great wr3, they definitely have potiential if they had a good qb and a better coach which they now have hopefully, along with that alvin kamara and jamaal williams, alvin kamara isn't washed or old, they just haven't given him the ball that much, same with jamaal williams, he's also a good running back who can definitely break through tackles and is a solid power back

I watched that sickening, egregious ending to that NFC championship game vs STL where a Superbowl was stolen from us. I watched it from my flat in downtown Minneapolis.

I'm a retired businessman and a lifetime football fan. For the life of me, I can not understand this review of the Saints. I guess it boils down to it being your opinion versus a lot of other people. We believe that NO brought in Kubiak to shake things up, revamped the O-line, and loaded up the receiver room with extraordinary talent, bringing back a hell of a defense, Carr has always been good, but with the right components he can be great. Look at Superbowl champion Nick Foles. Not to mention a fan base that is ready to get behind the fireworks. No, you show clips that back up what I'm saying, but your review doesn't match the clips with all the coming changes. How much you wanna bet that "Who Dat" will truly be "All DAT" in 2024-2025???

Most people don’t realize Carr and Matt Stafford have identical stats throughout their careers and this should be a career year for DC should Kubiak be as advertised. It all comes down to the O-line (which is young and athletic) but we may have hit it big with Fuaga, Penning to be more comfortable in year 3, and Saldiveri should be a quality starter this season with quality depth behind them (Udoh, Lemieux, Patrick, Evans, Young, Haynesworth). I believe we have enough offensive weapons to stay dynamic and keep teams guessing between Kamara, Taysom, Olave, Shaheed, Juwan Johnson, Bub Means, AT Perry, Foster Moreau, and Kendre Miller. The defense bottom lime will be top 10 especially our secondary. We are the deepest we have been at the linebacker position and I think Bryan Bresee will help propell our interior d line to the next level, with Chase Young and Granderson manning the edges, hopefully Foskey takes a step in the right direction as well. I think Cam Jordan should play on more interior pass rush/run stuff edge plays at this stage in his career but I think he’ll do better this year than last. Ultimately people forget it was Dennis Allen’s secondary that propelled us to a Super Bowl!

Signing dc just cemented the saints as a mid team over the next couple years. They won’t suck, but they won’t be anything crazy either.
If you think DC is the problem, you are wrong. Last yr game Packers vs Saints is all I needed to see to know it's not DC. Up 17-0, DC gets injured, and the Saints couldn't put up a single point in almost 2 quarters. Just another field goal that game would have put the Saints in the playoffs, division Champs, and Packers out the playoffs. The major problem has been replaced though.
