  • Today I'm testing out the Dash Multi-Plate Mini Maker that creates mini waffles with various designs. While I thought it worked, the price and cook time left something to be desired.

    Generally speaking, the first one will always take the longest to cook. Sometime I make 2 loaves of bread and the second one always takes a shorter time than the first. This is true with cookies too. It takes a while for the entire mass of the thing (as opposed to just the plates) to heat up and stabilize. When you make them one of after the other, the cooker doesn't have time to cool back down entirely.

    I own the reg Dash Mini Waffle Maker, and since its just me I saw no sense in getting the special designs one. Today I watched just out of curiosity to see what they would look like. Anyways, I only make about a cup's worth of batter & make as many it makes. I freeze whatever I don't eat for the next time. I think its great for those who are single like myself OR for those with children; but a bigger standard waffle maker would be best for those with larger families. IMO

It doesn't have the fancy interchangeable plates, but I'm single with no kids, so that's ok. I may invest in the winter set on Dash's website soon. I could see someone listening to music, a podcast, watching television or CZcams videos while making flavored waffles for the holidays over and over so they could stick them into the freezer for later and trot them out as appropriate and heat those little things easily in a toaster--especially if it's a 4-slot toaster. Add some good topping and you could eat them like cookies, cupcakes, or "ice cream sandwiches". At least they put the different plates in the box. I'd expect a corporation to put only a few in the box and dangle more plates for an additional cost.

    I have a few Dash appliances, and enjoy them a lot. BUT - the one I haven’t tried yet is the Electric Mandolin; after it arrived a couple of years ago, and unpacking it, I developed a bit of fear due to all the darned attachments…maybe I’ll “grow a set” and dive in January. 🤷‍♀️

    • @anti-ethniccleansing465
      @anti-ethniccleansing465 Před 7 měsíci +2

      I just looked it up. Why fear though? I could understand fear with normal mandolins because one’s fingers get so close to such a sharp blade and many people have suffered terrible injuries because of that, but the electric mandolin looks like a totally safe product, using a feeding chute like a food processor.
      Speaking of food processors... I think a high end one is well worth getting over an electric mandolin, because it’s capable of doing everything the e-mandolin is, but can do sooo much more. That big e-mandolin looks like it takes up just about the same amount of kitchen space as a food processor too!
      I know it’s a big price difference, but if food processors are essential for a ton of dishes these days, and are huge time savers.

      I don’t get it… Does your food processor not do what the electric mandolin does? Why would you order something that a food processor already does if so?

    it makes sense for it to be distinctly more expensive (because just think about how much a single plate could be reasonably priced at), but unless you're a big fan of mini waffles and love the idea of matching them to any occasion, it simply isn't worth it. not because it's a _bad_ idea or _significantly_ overpriced for what it is, but only because you don't care much for the feature making it more costly.
