Gum Recession After Wearing Braces Can Now Be Treated Without Gum Grafting Surgery

- Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation™ restores receding gums in minutes through tiny pinholes.
Each year 4 million Americans undergo orthodontic treatment in the U.S. 10% of these patients develop gum recession as a result of wearing braces. This means that about 400,000 orthodontic patients a year must also have their receded gums treated. Traditionally, receding gums have been treated with an unpleasant gum grafting procedure after patients undergo a lengthy period of wearing braces.
Now there is a quicker and easier alternative to traditional gum grafting which can benefit these patients. Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation™ is a minimally invasive technique to reverse gum recession without cutting, stitches or traditional gum grafting surgery. Receding gums are guided down to a healthy position though tiny pinholes made in the gums which disappear virtually overnight.
This animation shows how gum recession can occur during orthodontia and compares traditional gum grafting to Chao Pinhole Gum rejuvenation™ which was invented by dentist and educator Dr. John Chao. Dr. Chao is currently training leading dentists and periodontists in the new technique. For information or to locate one of the more than 300 dental professionals worldwide who have been trained and certified to perform Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation™ visit www.pinholegumrejuvenation.com or call 888-603-2953.

I just got my braces i’m in so much pain right now and watching this makes it even worse

Got my braces 4 days ago, the pain is almost all gone.
Why is life so difficult
Ha yaar😔
Orthodontists need to be honest and tell their patients braces could cause gum recession. Especially older patients where they are doing very rapid braces and retracting the dental arch . That's what I would call informed consent . If they would have mentioned anything could go wrong I would have never have gotten braces. I had excellent hygiene ,every 6 month hygienist cleaning and a very healthy diet and my gums rapidly receded with each tightening of my braces.
Really? I am currently in my gum grafting treatment and will put braces after that's what my periodontist adviced......i afraid my gum will recede again just because the braces?
same here , I kinda regret having the braces ..
Same here, i have braces and my gums receding i so regret having braces
Um how old are all of you guys? Is gum recession more likely to occur in adults than children/teenagers? I'm getting all anxious now lol
Dissonance I'm 20 braces ruined my life my teeth weren't that bad I got braces an boob my gums a gone I lost 4 teeth already my Mam went crazy at the dentist shit I did cos she knows I brush every day and floss ever 2 days
in all honesty they both look very unpleasant

I had braces for 4 years and had gum recession after I got them off. My dentist never even mentioned it. Well here I am 5 years later and now the recession has gotten worse and I now have a root cavity forming because of the recession. Honestly pisses me off. I’m only 24 years old.
My Art Page i feel your pain :( I have the same situation. Dentists these days become more greedy. They should mention about possible recesion before putting braces!
I noticed my gums receding one year into braces and brought it up to my dentist. They said it was nothing and to keep brushing and I did. I brush, I floss, I use mouthwash but still have no clue how my gums are receding. Can you explain before the sensitivity kicks in and ik I’m fucked?
orthodontists are crooks. they don't care once they have your money.
Honestly, go to a periodontist. They specialize in this, and can let you know if you need a graft or not. The procedure isn't bad at all, they sedate you heavily, so you don't feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure. My periodontist finished the surgery in about 40 min , and the only thing I felt was something like nudging/pushing as he worked on me -absolutely no pain.
The real issue is after - not so much pain, but just the drastic reduction in diet, I'm living off of liquids at room temp. There is also a lot of bleeding, but less pain and more of swelling or soreness. tbh not bad, the sooner you get it checked out the less painful the process is.

Nah man I'm getting my braces off next week and now I'm just shook God have mercy please
It's gross af, but not painful at all. the real annoyance is dealing with recovery tbh.
@@KillaMurda1871 Not painful? Howww they make a dam hole
@@quantryli I don't know about the pinhole procedure, since I got gum graft surgery, but I'm sure you will be numbed regardless since it'd be painful without it.
KillaMurda1871 Numbed?!? No I want to get into a 3 hour coma instead of witnessing THAT.
Why am i burdened with such bad teeth? I had crooked teeth so i needed braces, and i had gingivitis when she put them on but she said it would heal with good brushing, but it didnt. I now think ive developed perioditis or whatever the one that makes your teeth fall out. I have gum recession so i probably need gum grafting and i need my wisdom teeth removed as soon as they start growing through. Also my dad has type 1 diabetes so now I'm wondering if i could maybe get it too because GUM DISEASE IS LINKED WITH IT. Why didn't i just pick invisalign?!?!?!?
I cringed throughout the whole video 😪
Tatiana Zephirin me too! 😂
I'm so scared I'm crying

Orthodontists need to tell patient that braces could cause this issue. My daughter had to have a gum graft done and it's not pleasant. She had to wear her braces for three years. I am wondering if there was something they could of done to prevent this from happening.
Lisa George in my case i was asked if i wanted to get 1 tooth pulled out before my time with braces. That would make more gum to the teeth and i would then have no problem after. So in my case it was caused because there was to many teeth and not enough gum/place for them.
Lisa George t3wg xkw
Wait how do braces cause gum recession? I just got mine off and I’ve been paranoid about my gum receding for months because I practice very good oral hygiene and have no clue how it happened
Braces cause recession because the teeth shift from where they were and don't move the gums entirely. One other cause that caused my recession was that the brackets/squares that are placed on my teeth, were very close to or put resting slightly on my gums, so the gums will swell up and begin to recede.
@@KillaMurda1871 My exact problem!! I hate flossing so much tho😭
holy shit this looks uncomfortable
Harvey Shekelstein n
holy shite
that looks super painful
Braces were the cause of my gum recession too. But it was after they were taken off. It was the retainer that was kept in to keep my teeth from moving.
I’d rather not even though I am getting braces they didn’t tell me about this! 😭
Same...
Im scared rn
I was totally clueless that gum recession was ever an issue if you have had orthodontic work until I visited an oral surgeon today for a consultation for a dental implant. 😠 He said he could tell I had extensive orthodontia work because he could see my teeth bulging through my gums, and he said my gums were receding.
Omg. I can already see my teeth through and my gums seem to be receeding all the time and I'm supposed to be getting braces im completely put off ive just stumbled across all these comments
I want to know what's being inserted into the pinholes created. NO doubt anesthetics is being used, so it looks bad but likely does not feel as bad. With braces you will be ok or have bum overgrowth or recession. Both can be treated after the teeth are straighten out and should be part of the orthodontic care, in other words, no extra charges. People have all sorts of malocclusion and weird dental arrangements which can cause problems with biting, grinding, gum pain, dental erosions because of grinding, breathing, etc. It's not all cosmetic. People have to make a decision in what they are willing to live with.
I had this surgery done just last year on one of my bottom teeth . In all honesty you don’t feel nothing but a pinch and a little pain during the procedure . But after is the worst part ! The pain is pretty bad I couldn’t eat anything but soup not even with a spoon ! But you’ll get through it who ever you are !
how long was it till the pain was completely gone?
@@tanias304 1-2 months , the only time it’s really bad is the first 1-2 weeks . After that it’s just sore . But just be ready for the first cupped days they suck :/

Thanks for sharing this innovative approach. Possibly contributing to stabilizing the soft tissue, might be worth injecting in the pinhole a new generation of bioactivoator: cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel. This contributes to attracting blood, stabilizing the coagulum and speeding soft (and hard) tissue healing by impacting cells migration, proliferation and differentiation. It has other positive properties. Happy to share pre-clinical and clinical data with those interested.
Am I the only one that thought it said rice gum in the title? 😂😂😂
Im getting spacers next month and braces the week after so.. if i have to go through this pray for me 🙏🏽
I just had this last week and the other week, it wasn't painful.
Hannah Healy what scale of painfulness? Let’s compare it to a paper cut. If a paper cut was 3, then what would this be from 1-10?
Caleb Chan I'm sure they had him/her under anaesthetic when doing the procedure, but it would have been sore for the next 2 weeks or so I'm guessing.
Are you dead now?

ok im scaed now
Never go for braces unless it’s very necessary, my orthodontist never told me a thing about gum recession. Now after about a year after I had my braces on I regret it a lot. The way my gums are receding seems scary and very uncomfortable, it’s way more worrying than the braces itself.
I had mine for 4 months on upper teeth, and 2 weeks on bottom, took them off yesterday after being informed
Umm I have gaps between front tooth what should it do
Use common sense @@abhayOp6788
After braces, at the age of 21. my gums receded and now it looks very scary to me, no one ever told me that, they even told me that it wasn't from braces even though I was convinced and witnessed it myself... I would never have agreed to braces if I was informed on time, it is so that the orthodontist gets money... informed consent under urgency
😓😓
*_Maybe it's because of the way patients with braces brush their teeth during the treatment. I had mild gum recession before braces but it didn't worsen. I use soft britle toothbrush now and try to be extra gentle with my gums._*
Bruh orthodontists have to be smarter with braces sometimes no one wants gum recession😕
What if i have a tooth smaller than the others can braces fix it??
I had no idea this was a thing until I took my braces off. It happened on some teeth, so I didn't even notice until I went to clean them after taking the braces off and my dentist told me. I'm so mad and worried sick at the same time. Does it get worse? I took such good care of my teeth, brushed and flossed and everything, but it still happened. Is this surgery painful, how long does the recovery take?
I have invisalign and my one mistake is not seeing a periodontist first before undertaking braces, because now I can see gum recession. Soon I will have to do this...
In most cases Chao PInhole Gum Rejuvenation™ is much less invasive than other treatments including laser treatments. Most patients say they experienced little or no pain and can eat regular meals the next day.
Hi I am confused, my periodontist advice me to do the gum grafting treatment first, before I do my braces. So I don't want my gum recess again after the surgery because of braces. What shall I do?
False the pain is pretty bad , I had this gun gaft surgery done . Worst pain

Getting my braces off tomorrow... why am I watching this lmao
I wish I can get this done as one of my front teeth is longer than the other and i need it pushed back up!
Bro i just have had mine on for like a good 2 months now and i had excellent oral hygiene before i even got them put on. And now i swear im developing some gum recession. A little bit of my nail was literally able to go underneath one of my molars and they have continued to tell me that, that happens with some patients but i think not. Non of my friends had that happen. Im going to the dentist tomorrow to have him check out my tooth just because it's bothering me so that i can get a second opinion from a professional. If i had known that gum recession could be a factor with braces then i would have never gotten them.
I got in one teeth and im so afraid that i willl able to get braces or not
what are you putting in between teeth , and is it safe in long term ? does it have any side effects later ?
My front two teeth gums have receded a lot since getting braces. I’m only 14 and I feel great anxiety all the time and I have a decent routine I don’t know what to do I’ve had braces for 1 year and 5 months :((
How you doing now huh? Now youve turned 17 and bro im 15 suffering with the same shit

well, most dentist will still offer the more expensive option to earn more

The second one holy...
lol neither of these scare me because i already had to do impacted canine exposure surgery which is 10x worse
I honestly believe your gum will recede when you don't have enough space and has thin gum but does not take the extraction option (to make more space so your teeth won't be pushed forward) ... idk just me
Marshmelo I think you’re right
Yes!! I had small teeth when I got my braces on. Almost too small for the braces. Then as time went on my gums started receding I think to make space for the braces.
Wait so im getting braces & the orthodontist gave me a choice to extract my teeth (so i can have more space) or just straighten them. Which option should i do so i won't get receding gums???
Kindness Rblx extract the teeth. Don’t go through what I’m going through, save yourself

Pls god I was so excited to get my braces but now I'm not I'm crying right now I wish I was four again I'm so scared
Don't worry, you won't get any gum recession if you don't brush too hard. A reason why it can be common in people with braces is because they have a habit of brushing harder as an attempt to clean areas that the braces have covered up.
Oh my gosh that looks painful

Don't be afraid...The dentist/orthodontist will obviously numb your gums, you will mostly likely never feel a thing while they're performing the procedure. Close your eyes when they're doing it, I found it calming.
