2. It all started with the Egyptians.
Scholars who study the Bible say that the earliest mention of a birthday was around 3,000 B.C.E. and was in reference to a Pharaoh’s birthday. But further study implies that this was not their birth into the world, but their “birth” as a god.
When Egyptian pharaohs were crowned in ancient Egypt, they were considered to have transformed into gods. This was a moment in their lives that became more important than even their physical birth.
Pagans, such as the ancient Greeks, believed that each person had a spirit that was present on the day of his or her birth. This spirit kept watch and had a mystic relation with the god on whose birthday that particular individual was born.
3. You can thank Greeks for all those birthday candles.
Gods and goddesses were a huge part of Greek culture. Greeks offered many tributes and sacrifices to appease these gods. The lunar goddess, Artemis, was no different.
As a tribute to her, the Greeks would offer up moon-shaped cakes adorned with lit candles to recreate the glowing radiance of the moon and Artemis’ perceived beauty. The candles also symbolized the sending of a signal or prayer. Blowing out the candles with a wish is another way of sending that message to the gods.
4. Birthdays first started as a form of protection.
It is assumed that the Greeks adopted the Egyptian tradition of celebrating the “birth” of a god. They, like many other pagan cultures, thought that days of major change, such as these “birth” days, welcomed evil spirits. They lit candles in response to these spirits almost as if they represented a light in the darkness. This implies that birthday celebrations started as a form of protection.
In addition to candles, friends and family would gather around the birthday person and protect them from harm with good cheers, thoughts, and wishes. They would give gifts to bring even more good cheer that would ward off evil spirits. Noisemakers were also used to scare away the unwanted evil.
5. The ancient Romans were the first to celebrate the birth of the common “man.”
This seems to be the first time in history where a civilization celebrated the birth of non-religious figures. Regular Roman citizens would celebrate the birthdays of their friends and family members. The government, however, created public holidays in honor of more famous citizens.
Any Roman turning 50 years old would receive a special cake baked with wheat flour, olive oil, grated cheese, and honey. But an important thing to note is that only men would experience this birthday celebration. Female birthdays were not celebrated until about the 12th century.
6. Birthdays were first considered to be a pagan ritual in Christian culture.
In Christianity, it is believed that all people are born with “original sin.” That, in combination with early birthdays being tied to pagan gods, led Christians to consider birthdays to be celebrations of evil. This lasted for the first few hundred years of the existence of the Christian Church.
It wasn’t until the 4th century that Christians abandoned that way of thinking and began celebrating the birth of Jesus, also know as Christmas. Celebrating the birth of Jesus was partly enacted to recruit those who already celebrated Saturnalia, the Roman holiday.

برصغیر میں یہ ناسور:
1980ء تک ائیر نائیٹ کی تقریبات یورپ تک محدود تھیں۔ 1980ء کی دہائی کے بعد میں یہ مرض برصغیر میں داخل ہوا۔ 1992ء میں کراچی کے ایک فائیو اسٹار ہوٹل میں پہلی نیو ایئرنائٹ منائی گئی ۔ اس تقریب میں کراچی کے تاجربرادری، زمینداروں اوراداکاروں نے شرکت کی۔ کڑے پہرے میں یہ تقریب منائی گئی جس میں شراب اورشباب کا خصوصی انتظام تھا ۔ پاکستان میں نیو ایئر نائٹ کو مشرف دورمیں عروج حاصل ہوا۔موجودہ دورمیں بھی مشرف کی دیگر پالیسیوں کے تسلسل کے ساتھ ساتھ ایسی خرافات کوبھی(بیک ڈور) سرکاری سرپرستی حاصل ہے۔ اس سلسلے میں جان بوجھ کر ''انجان''بنا جارہا ہے۔
نیو ایئر نائٹ کے حادثات:
نیو ائیر نائیٹ جہاں تہذیب و ثقافت کی دھجیاں بکھیرتی ہےوہیں اس کا ایک اور پہلو بھی بہت تاریک ہے ۔ نئے سال کو خوش آمدید کرنےکےلئے آنے والوں کے گھروں میں کبھی صف ماتم بھی بچھ جاتاہے۔ ایک معمولی سا سروے اور اس کی رپورٹ خود ملاحظہ فرمائیں
٭… برازیل کے شہر روڈی جنیرو میں ایک بدنام زمانہ ساحل ہے جس کا نام" کوپاکابانا" ہے اس ساحل پر2002ء میں پندرہ لاکھ جمع ہوئے ۔ رات بارہ بجے جب روشنیاں بجھیں اور آتش بازی شروع ہوئی تو وہاں ہلڑ مچ گیا ۔ اس ہنگامے میں کئی سونوجوان سمندر میں گرگئے ' سینکڑوں لڑکیوں کی عصمت دری ہوئی اور بے شمارافراد پیروں میں کچلے گئے ۔ دوسرے دن ساحل پر انسانی اعضا' خون اور پھٹےپرانے کپڑے کے سوا کچھ بھی نہ تھا۔
٭…بیونس آئرس ارجنٹائن میں 2002ء میں 100افراد مارے گئے۔
٭…برطانیہ میں 2002ء کی نیو ایئر نائٹ کی آتشبازی نے1362افراد کو متاثر کیا ۔ ان میں بے شمار لوگ اپنے اعضا ء سے محروم ہوگئے ۔ چالیس گھروں کو آگ لگ گئی اور500سو گاڑیاں تباہ ہوئیں۔جبکہ 4825جانور بھی جل کر مر گئے۔
٭…2002ء میں نیو یارک شہر میں 15افراد مارے گئے اور 50شدید زخمی ہوگئے۔
کولمبیا کے سب سے بڑے شہر بگوٹا میں2002 میں صرف ایک گھنٹے کے اندر 147مارے گئے ۔ یہ تمام لوگ نوجوان تھے جنھوں نے رات کو نیو ایئر نائٹ کا اعلان ہوتے ہی ایک دوسرے پر حملہ کردیا ۔ اس حملے میں چونسٹھ64 افراد گولی لگنے22افراد خنجر لگنے ' گیارہ پتھر تلے کچلے جانے اور پچاس سڑکوں پر حادثات کے باعث مارے گئے ۔
پیراگوئے میں 2004ء کے دوران آتش بازی کے باعث 400افراد ہلاک اور سینکڑوں زخمی ہوگئے تھے۔
٭…یکم جنوری 2005ء میں ارجنٹائن کے دارالحکومت بیونس آئرس کے ایک نائٹ کلب میں نئے سال کی خوشی میں موسیقی کےایک پروگرام کے دوران آتش بازی کے نتیجے میں آگ لگنے کی وجہ سے کم ازکم300افراد جل کر ہلاک اور 500سے زائد شدید زخمی ہوگئے ۔ اس واقعہ کے دوران کلب کے ہال میں 1500افراد موجود تھے ۔
نیو ائیر اور آج کا مسلمان:
نئےسال کی مبارک باد دینا لائق تحسین عمل نہیں ہے۔ تقلید مغرب و یورپ میں دیوانگی کا یہ عالم ہے کہ ہم نے مدر ڈے، ارتھ ڈے، ٹیچر ڈے ہی میں نہیں ویلنٹائن ڈے، بلیک فرائیڈے اور نیوائیر نائٹ جیسے خرافات سے بھرپور پروگرامات میں بھی ان کی قدم بہ قدم اور پہلو بہ پہلو تقلید شروع کر دی ہے۔
نبی اکرم ﷺ کی وہ پیش گوئی حرف با حرف سچ ثابت ہو رہی ہےکہ
*«لاَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى تَأْخُذَ أُمَّتِي بِأَخْذِ القُرُونِ قَبْلَهَا، شِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ» فَقِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، كَفَارِسَ وَالرُّومِ؟ فَقَالَ: «وَمَنِ النَّاسُ إِلَّا أُولَئِكَ»*
قیامت اس وقت تک قائم نہیں ہو گی جب تک میری امت اس طرح پچھلی امتوں کے مطابق نہیں ہو جائے گی جیسے بالشت بالشت کے اور ہاتھ ہاتھ کے برابر ہوتا ہے ۔ “ پوچھا گیا : یا رسول اللہ ! اگلی امتوں سے کون مراد ہیں ، پارسی اور نصرانی ؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا ” پھر اور کون
صحیح البخاری ، کتاب الاعتصام باب قال النبی[صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم] لتتبعن سنن ومن کان قبلکم حدیث : 7320*

*ایک اور حدیث مبارکہ میں آپﷺ نے فرمایا*
*"مَنْ تَشَبَّہَ بِقَوْمٍ فَھُوَ مِنْھُمْ"*
*(أبو داؤد ، ح : 4031)*
ترجمہ:
جس نے کسی قوم کی مشابہت کی وہ انہی میں سے ہو گا

Assalamualaikum, I live in sweden and here doing zabeeha is not allowed. So we buy the halal meat that come from poland (or other countries). We have no option than to trust the labels. Some people illegally slaughter here and provide people the authentic halal meat. My husband and i don't believe in disobeying the rule of the land when they r providing the halal fron other lands.
Now muslim families we meat question us where we buy it from and then decide whether to eat with us or not. Please tell us how to decide what meat is halal and what is not.

Bidat toh nahi kahunga magar jo cheez yahud aur nasara manate hai usko hum musalaman bilkul nahi celebrate karenge. Humko ahle-kitaab ke har taur tareeka aur inki festivals se bilkul door rehna chahiye.
