  • The title says it all. This video is not like my typical videos, so skip over it if it doesn't apply to you. I was struggling to find a gutter downspout and could literally not find a solution anywhere on the internet, so I felt obliged to upload this video showing my solution for anyone else in the future having this same issue!

    That was a cool idea! I have a smoke machine too! Thing is I don't need to find my gutter drain but hey! it was a cool video, and it was kind of technology-related, because of the smoke machine!
    Here's an idea! Fly a little drone through there. Haha just kidding...

      Haha, I appreciate your supportive comment Weston :). This is just a random video and doesn’t apply to the whole of what I usually do on this channel, but hey, I want to help those that have this same issue so hopefully most of my typical viewers will understand that from the same lens that you viewed this through🤓

    Hey Carson. Really clever solution! Do you think you could make a setup/desk tour? I would really enjoy seeing your setup to get some inspiration. I have seen your tech gear and room transformation videos but you didn’t entirely show your desk setup in detail and I’m sure it’s changed a bit since then. Thanks!

    Well done. Here's a challenge for you (and me). We have 5 acres and our lot lines are 500 feet long. Our new neighbor has been seen in our wooded boundary area on a few occasions looking like they were just harmlessly exploring our woods but one morning I saw them escort a contractor in there who commenced to work quickly, trying to avoid being seen (all bent over and going from tree to tree). After he left I went out and found a plastic pipe exiting into a ditch on our land. I asked them to move it and they acted like they had no idea the pipe was there (4 inch perforated flexispout pipe). He said it was his downspout but also didnt know about it. Anyway I found another one on my land and had them both terminated professionally on his side with a pop up. My question is how can I find any others over this 500 foot lot line? I dont want them to assert ownership over our land and claim adverse possession by these buried pipes so I need to find any that exist quickly. I tried dowsing which works for mine but there is a near by stream which causes me to poke my shovel in a lot of places only to find rocks. Any other suggestions to find possible pipes I dont know about that is efficient?

    great video !!! I wonder if that would work in gopher holes ? lol

    • @carsonmtech
      @carsonmtech  Před 4 lety

      Lol that is a really smart idea actually, like in the event you want to find all exit points for a gopher hole! Only thing though is that since in that case you would need the fog to travel long distances, it may only work with a smoke machine or something constantly putting out smoke rather than the 10-15 seconds of a smoke bomb!

    Hello Carson: Please tell me the brand name and model number of your fog machine. I am experiencing the same issue about locating gutter drains. Your amazon link to a fog machine in your video does not work. Thanks, Paul

    Helpful vid but I have the opposite problem - the outlet is visible but the input is is nowhere to be found and was quoted by a plumber $500 for a simple inspection and cleanout

    Liked your video. Very clever. The only thing that I can add is to paint the drain covers white. They'll be easier to spot in future searches.

  • @craigwflys
    @craigwflys Před 4 lety

    Very innovative idea. Luckily the drain wasn't completely blocked otherwise the fog probably wouldn't have made it to the surface.

    Hi I have a similar problem at my sommer house In italy, but i have been told that putting hose on the fog machine will melt everything as it gets very hot, is that true. ? our ground is 3500 m2 and i have absolutely no idae where the hose ends, it goes from our basement to under the terracce and further under concrete into the garden. thanks for responding

    • @resevil2396
      @resevil2396 Před 2 měsíci

      Depends on the machine. Mine actually came with a hose to intentionally direct it.

    Garden hose down the other end? Water will eventually make a wet spot.

    My solution originally was to spend like $100 or so and buy one of those snake camera off Amazon. I also have a smoke machine from Halloween so this will hopefully save me some mone as long as it isnt yoo buried lol

    • @resevil2396
      @resevil2396 Před 2 měsíci

      Update: did not work for me. Our downspout goes under concrete walkways around the exterior walls and the smoke just found some gaps and came up around cracks near the exterior walls right at the corner where the pipe likely does not go. Im most likely going to have to get a snake camera eventually to actually find out where this thing is going.

  • @abbiedoobie
    @abbiedoobie Před rokem

    Sadly this did not work for me, at least not entirely. I was able to identify that 3 gutters/grates on my property are connected to one another, but not where they exit. I closed those known exits up, and fog couldn't be found anywhere else. None of these act as an exit point themselves either, they go... somewhere, and I'm afraid they may be dumping into my septic tank. If anybody happens to see this, and have another idea to (cheaply!) locate the exit point, please let me know.

    • @carsonmtech
      @carsonmtech  Před rokem

      Did you try putting your fog source at the furthest exit point point grate from where you were originally putting the fog into? Maybe your fog source was just lacking any additional power by the end of those 3 grates, it could be possible to locate additional if you’re further down the line, if you know what I mean! Make sure to plug up the direction going towards the original source hole, so you’re only working downstream and not upstream.
