    I have a boosted version of my main acoustic for solos right next to the preset for the standard main EQ. It's doubling as a boost pedal!
    Be sure to read the user manual, this is one of the best acoustic IR pedals on the market, especially considering how much cheaper it is from a Tonedexter.

    Impressively accurate. The Martin HD-28 has the big beefy sound I would expect it to have, while the Taylor 814 sounds smaller and has the midrange boost that my ears associate with Taylors. They may have exaggerated the midrange-heavy sound a bit though. Overall they did a great job. But what I'm interested in is how it sounds when you record an IR image for your own guitar.

    I have had this unit for 3 days. The first day I was so excited to try this out.... I only used the 15 presets. I was so disappointed. None of the presets made any of my guitars really stand out..... THEN!! today I experimented with the IR..... WOW! what a difference. 4 on my acoustic guitars (Martins, Cole Claks) really sing and sound acoustic through a PA. The quacking Piezzo pick ups now sound like they have been mic'd up. They are not 100% pefect, but alot better! Looking forward to experimenting further!

    I get the idea that to get the most out of the Optima Air: rather than stick with the factory presets, you ideally need to capture your own IRs, most likely with the instruments you’ll use it with. As well as my acoustic guitars (Faith Saturn 6-string and Seagull S12 12-string), I’d love to try the Air with my Crafter M70E mandolin...

    I just bought a Godin xtSA which is a solid body guitar that has magnetic pickups and a piezo, which can be output separately. I have the Nux Stageman, and ran the Godin piezo through it and it sound good, but without as much body as I would like. I wonder if the Godin piezo would benefit from this pedal more (e.g. make it sound more acoustic). I plan on running the magnetic pickups through a modeler pedal, but want to preserve the ability to switch to an acoustic tone.

    • @RaymondUpenieks
      @RaymondUpenieks Před rokem

      Since your guitar has the Roland GK compatible 13 pin output which uses the piezo have you considered a Roland GR-55 or Roland GP-10? The are guitar synthesizers with guitar modeling and they do an incredible job. You can set custom tunings and have a variety of instruments available including acoustic guitar including 12 string. In regards to your question directly I'm curious also if the piezo (Fishman piezo) on my guitar would sound more acoustic with this Nux unit and I'm sure it would help but although a piezo pick-up does a good job in trying to sound acoustic so far only an acoustic or guitar synth has been able to get that sound.

      @@RaymondUpenieks I did eventually get this pedal, but also a GP-10. The COSM engine on the GP-10 actually has some very good acoustic sounds and there are some interesting mixing possibilities of combining the two together. I have added a mixer to my pedal board so that I can combine the sound together. The pedal does wonders, even for my Mandolins. My playing partner runs his Strat and Tele through before running it into a digital interface into his computer for the online jamming software we use Sonobus.

      It has a balanced xlr output. I believe it has an input/output if you want to put it in a chain

    I got mine in the mail today, super disappointed. You're going to need a noise gate to quiet this thing down. I won't be using it at my live gigs.

      What the noise you were getting similar to the hiss at 3:39 in the video when he was switching to the J 15 Piezo, but quickly passed the J15 Magnetic? Seemed like the Pieze handed the piezo setting nice and quiet, but hissed when the magnetic setting was selected for the piezo pickup.

      I just got mine and it sounds great, maybe the workers had a bad day at the factory when they built yours

    Don’t understand why you would want to model your Martin guitar into a Gibson

      Because the Martin goes through a piezo pickup for on-stage volume instead of a mic in a pristine studio and because it's (probably) a post 1968 Martin with an Indian rosewood back and not an expensive high-end model at that.

    It's impressive until it heats up and your sound becomes completely distorted and unusable.
