How many Designers are going to go to such an extent to advance their brand? Daniela, you have raised a very essential issue and need in the fashion industry. You would think after all this time this is something that would be addressed. Thank you for doing this! Great job!

I'm sure some Blk Designers are going to the extent but, It's a lot of work that people don't want to pay for. Different color nudes are a problem across many industries. Thank you for your feedback!❤

I found this video completely randomly while looking for another dye process...but just want to say..I am so happy to have watched this. It's awful there isn't a more easily obtainable way to make lovely shaded "nude" fabrics. Congratulations on a terrific test!!

Maybe you should get into being a fabric consultant with people who make these mesh so they can make products that suit melanated women. I am a light skinned Spanish women but I know other olive skinned women probably have the same problem you are expressing.

DIY fabric dyeing is very doable for anyone. I love that you took the time to share the process! I have some tips.....to share!
Using hot water as you did in the video would be my suggestion for beginning DIY fabric dyeing. The development of color happens gradually. Allows you to control how dark or light you need it. Boiling method works well if you are not a patient person however the development of color happens fairly quickly. You can do it one of two ways....each way is effective!
Last Tip: To avoid the unevenness of color.....keep the fabric moving so that the dye pigments do not settle in one area more than another.

Though I enjoyed seeing the process that you went through in dyeing each mesh to compliment skin tone including making sure there was a yellow undertone and red undertones. I really wish that we were at a place where all of the shade ranges were available from the majority of the manufacturers. That being said, you are a very talented designer.

One of my relatives in the 1970s used strong brewed tea to give laces a warm hue instead of white, the longer the laces steeped in the teas the darker it got. Hours. One could do trial swatches using cups of mugs of teas in different strengths. This before trying to dye big piece of fabric. Maybe coffee would work too. Some leaves, herbs, roots give colors too. Natural fabrics take color. Not sure about polyester, never try.

  • @imthemaryyouretherhoda286

Daniela, I feel yah girl. IMO it seems that the fabric designers and makeup companies or either intentionally or not intentionally discriminating against black and brown skinned people. And for this to still be the case in 2022 is a real shame! I mean it's not like all of the sudden black, dark, and brown skinned people just appeared one day ago or something. So for me it's like why am I shopping at a place that's either intentionally or not intentionally discriminating against you guys for no apparent reason. You guys should be able to just walk into a fabric store and pick fabric up off of the shelf like us white people do or go to any makeup counter or store and be able to find your shade just as easily as white people do. This is not to say that dying fabric is not a good skill to have in your pocket or that it's not fun but I guess what I'm saying is that these colours should be READILY ACCESSIBLE for all skin types and shades.
