  • Zappa in Finland. Interviews from 1973, 1974 and 1976. With a closing comment from the interviewer Matti Poijärvi made in 2007.
    (Clips from "Iltatähti" TV-show, YLE)
“I don’t think anybody has ever seen the real Frank Zappa, because being interviewed is one of the most abnormal things that you can do to somebody. [It’s] just two steps removed from The Inquisition.”
    Frank Zappa

How impressive. The guy gave it up to Zappa being the most intelligent, sharp and progressive person of jazz and rock personalities he interviewed even though Zappa was hitting on his girlfriend during an interview. What a guy and what a guy!

Awesome, these gems are so amazing to watch some 40+ years later. INow I'm going to find the 10 hour video of Zappa interviews again!

I love the throne they have him sit on. Very fitting.

I think Frank and Matti exchanged shirts in 1974.

Europeans got him easier than Americans

Imo, in general, Europeans (including UK here) have better taste in “pop music” (using the term broadly here), and I say that as an American… Just looking at what albums/bands through history were more popular here vs there, it seems to me that more complex music, “experimental” or not, is much more appreciated in Europe. That’s not to knock the states, that’s where the roots of most of the music I love are, but imo many of the greatest artists in their respective genres and times were just more appreciated out of the US.. 🤘✌️

Frank Zappa... How many rock stars actually write up serious compositions? He sat down and wrote up scores (or dots).

11:32 surprisingly obvious how run-of-the-mill "rock" and "pop" musicians will never get anywhere with their repetitive blabberings...
