Note from a nicu/postpartum nurse about swaddling, only swaddle with the arms in until they are starting to be able to turn themselves over because if they turn themselves onto their stomach they need their arms out to be able to turn back to their back
The swaddle is to prevent them from rolling on their stomach...?
The swaddle is to keep them warm and comfortable so they sleep better. The reason for the arm comment is that once they're big enough to roll onto their stomach they might not be able to roll back onto their without their arms out of the swaddle
When do they start to roll? I'm 6.5 pregnant
@@neuroticgypsy it depends on the individual baby and their development but it's often around 4 months old
My hospital told me that swaddles are a SIDS risk from the beginning for 2 reasons 1. Accidental overheating - actually because the baby fights the swaddle abd works himself into a heat trying to move his little arms, as well as it adding an extra layer that might be too much. 2. Because the baby sleeps more deeply and it's better for them in the early days to wake more, even if it's tough on mom & dad
I am 21 years old and just found out I am pregnant. I cried for so many nights, not knowing what to do or thinking I could never be a good mom, but honestly after watching so many videos and talking to several people I am SOO excited to be a mom know. I know its not going to be perfect and not everything will look like rainbows, but I honestly feel that this new season will be such a beautiful journey for me! So yeah, thanks for all this videos and for helping so many people! So grateful!
I remember those feelings oh to well… just hang I there it will all turn out just fine and you won’t be able to imagine what life would have been without your babe. Sending you all the positive pregnancy vibes, you got this mama!
Typically the ones that are worried about doing something wrong or ‘being a bad mom’ are the ones that are the best.
My mom was pregnant at 15 and had 4 children by 24 and of course financially it was a struggle early on but she’s the best mom I could have asked for. Your baby needs your love and attention not items.

I’m also 21 and just found out I’m pregnant! I’m engaged and planning a wedding so I was so torn with what to do because my fiancé and I want kids but I feel so worried I’m not ready and won’t be a good enough mom. I’m going thru an emotional rollercoaster and these videos really help reassure me and take my mind off the worrisome side of pregnancy

It’s never too early! I watched these videos years ago when I was in my early 20s and literally saved them in a playlist so I could go back and watch when it was my time.

Im pregnant with my first child after being told i couldn't have kids. Im currently in my second trimester and been stress because idk what things were vital. Im glad u did this video ur videos r a huge help
Note to new upcoming parents: you do any of these “high end” things. Look for the cheap stuff it works EXACTLY the same.
Plus don't be afraid of using second hand things so long as they can be sanitized!

Yesss, I literally got everything in basic form and second hand. Didn't even bother with a stroller, I carry my babies in carriers, way easier and cheaper.
@@theraayato5346 how did it work out not having a stroller? Did you need one eventually as they got bigger?
Two things i want to add..
Maybe thats useful for someone.. :)
1. The baby carrier you have from baby bjorn is great ( i have one too) but we quickly realized that its really bad for your back (as my baby boy is really heavy) so we switched to a baby carrier with a belt around your hips and it such a difference!
2. The Hakka.. i also dont leak but i use the hakka for pumping..
Whenever i breastfeed i use the Hakka on my other boob.. its amazing how much milk i get just by using it during breastfeeding.. :)
My wife is 3 months pregnant. I'm soo excited to be a dad. I've watched soo many of your videos now and find them easy to watch, informative and help me realise what life will be like. Thanks and keep up the good work. 🏴

1st trimester and just watching this while I struggle through awful nausea. Added a few things to my wishlist! Thank you for explaining swaddling. I had no idea what it was actually for!
I used a pack n play bassinet when my daughter was a newborn, it worked fine and now we are using the pack n play when I have to get some chores done around the house at 9 months old!! I love the travel sound machine, it helped so much with outings!
I’m almost 24 weeks pregnant with our first and I’m so thankful I’m behind you so I can learn all the things I might need!

Thanks for making this video. I'm entering my 3rd trimester in a few days and today I went over everything I have and I'm still missing so much. This gives me an idea in what to buy. ❤️ You are so pretty and easy to listen to.
The haaka isn't just for "leaking" or catching your letdown. The suction action will also collect additional milk. Kind of like a manual pump so it helps to get extra milk for bottle feeds or to stock up your freezer stash. It collects a surprising amount, especially with the first feeding of the morning!
Hmm I’ll have to try it out then! I mean might as well since I already have it.
I was able to catch and store 400 Oz in 3 months only from the haaka. I loved it. I love these videos.
I didn't know that till last week but then I figured out how to use it and I love it!! So happy to be growing my freezer stash w/o having to to use a electric pump.

I love these recommendations, thanks so much for the great info! I have 4 kids already & the main input I can give is that nipple shields were vital for me when learning to breastfeed and until my nipples were toughened up a little. Also I finally discovered that with inverted nipples causing so much of a struggle with breastfeeding in the end it was so much easier for me personally to pump (electric pump) & bottle feed. Plus it’s nice that other people can feed the baby too if you need to get some rest/sleep.
I didn’t leak much, but the haakaa was still extremely useful. Because of the light suction it still pulled milk from me. I had an oversupply and in one sitting I got 15 oz from my haakaa. It helped me not feel horribly full between feedings. I do recommend it, especially for building a stash or just for having a bottle for dad or someone to feed if that’s something you’re interested in.

My partner and I will be TTC in the next few months so I am watching all of these types of videos WAY before I'm even pregnant let alone 3rd Trimester! haha Thank you so much for this video! I think for a lot of these items if you can't buy them outright, you can also get really great second-hand versions for half the price to save more money too! :)

I have a 2 month old and discovered the exactly same for the things I didnt use the brwast pads, haaka and I couldn't get little miss liking the pacifier!! Thanks for sharing

You can still use the Haakaa as a manual pump, just do som,e quick squeezes to stimulate "Let Down".

Getting ready for pregnancy and it was so strange that I came upon this video first out of all of them as my name is Sage too! There's not a lot of Sages and it was sweet to hear. Really good video🤍
That’s the thing with all things baby-it can so greatly vary from mom/baby to mom/baby. Some will like one thing while others will not like it at all. Also the Haaka’s aren’t $50(I think you said???). They are pretty inexpensive plus there are similar off brand similar products as well. But that’s just a side note. What’s crazy is what might work for one baby may not lapel for the next one-have learned that the hard way LOL. now expecting my 4th baby it certainly a journey with highs and lows. But overall one so thankful to be taking ❤️
The graco glider is more economical than the snoo and my NB loves it. We use it for day time sleep

I got one of those temperature duckies brand new at Goodwill and have been using it for baths in pregnancy to make sure I'm not too hot. Just for that it has been worth it already! Highly recommend as well
I’m 18 2 more months left of school 5 weeks pregnant and not off to a good start, constant, constant migraines. Constant nausea. Etc, I’m already ready for the baby to come out, I’m so scared because I’m already off to a bad start. And these truly do make me feel better. ♥️

Hi Nikole! Love your videos! I'm curious to know where did you register for baby sage? there are so many options out there.
Hi Nikole, another enjoyable video! I am not a new mom nor anywhere near that stage in life, but many people around me are and so I have a lot of insight I am learning from the outside view... Anyways- I wanted to ask/recommend/introduce that of "Elimination Communication" to you. I don't think you are doing this practice with Sage based on what you have shared in videos, but I feel like it might be something that aligned with your values and worth looking into. Whether or not you choose to go that route, I think it might spark your interest to at least learn about it as an option. I heard of it from a podcast episode by "No Trash Talk"- Liv and Katie are fellow Canadians and Liv also is a food-related CZcamsr. Anyways, I just felt like throwing it out there, but am certainly not judging or forcing a right or wrong course of action! Like I said, I am literally the furthest away person from even thinking about having a baby, so I am definitely not trying to sound like I know it all! Just mentioning it as I think it would maybe intrigue you. :) Have a lovely Valentine's Day and stay well!

Be glad Sage doesn't like the pacifier. When I was little I supposedly used one for a long time and according to my dentist it's the reason for my teeth ending up super crooked.

Remember this: all your baby needs is 1.a place to sleep 2. breast or formula to eat 3.some clothes (mostly onesies) and diapers ans 4. a way to go out/on a trip (carrier and/or stroller and carseat) All the rest is extra. Things to keep baby calm and entertained don't have to be many, YOU are their best toy and peace haven. I did not believe this but now I see how true it is.
honestly during those first few weeks you will learn as you go and they really dont need a lot. Dont stress you got this mama!

im not a mom but I have seen a lot of adds or videos about the Hakka thing and from what I understand you can also use it almost like a pump but you just have to suction it on and then give it a few squeezes and your milk should start to come. and if not the squeeze a few more times and just wait. again I am not a mom and I could be complete wrong.

2 months postpartum and I am a leaking mess!! I’ve gone through 3 boxes of nursing pads! So much wasted milk 😭 I need to get a haaka! This is baby #2 for me you’d think I’d learn my lesson lol. But we love the Dock-A-Tot, halo swaddle & A swing!
Haakaa also makes milk collectors that don’t have the same suction as their silicon pump but you could wear them in your bra, they look like lady bugs lol

You don’t have to be leaking to use the Hakaa - it will suck up any extra milk even if you are not leaking. The hakaa is amazing for getting out extra bits of milk, even for a lower supplier like me! I would highly recommend that you try it and you will be surprised that you can get a bit of extra milk even when you think your breasts are empty!
I leak sooo much. I go through sooo many nipple pads in a day. Also the haakaa is amazing for me. I save like 4-8 oz a day depending on how religiously I use it.
Question, how do you put them in a swaddle with the knotted nightgown?

This will be my 2nd child and the day my 3rd trimester started I started leaking. Lol so I'm one of those Mommas that love the haaka and leak through multiple nursing pads
