thank you for sharing (interview arrangement). Alex mentioned BTL mortgage for overseas buyers is usually for buying "2nd property". I heard from my friends and social media. BTL mortgage is also feasible for buying "first property" (the rate could be higher).
Yes, buy to let is easier for second property but can be used as a first. The rates might be less desirable and fewer choices.

Will it be an issue for those already approaching retirement age in getting a buy to let mortgage, assuming the conditions Alex mentioned are met, such as 25% deposited, rent to martgage ratio is 1.5:1.
I don't believe those who are approaching retirement age will find it an issue to get buy to let mortgages. It's a very common retirement strategy.
People need to consider carefully before committing to buy to let. It used to be profitable but not any more I have a few UK properties, some of my tenants have not paid any rent for 6 months and I am still trying to evict them! If you are a high tax payer in UK, you will be paying 40% tax on rent excluding agent fee etc. You can used to deduct interest against your rental income but not any more.

You may want to use a limited company structure to purchase the but to let properties. Best to speak with Alex and his accountant.
They are in North West London in zone 4 and 5. Buy to let was very profitable, if you start in late 1990s and early 2000s. You used to able to get at least 8% return on rent and 10% on capital growth. The tax rules change made it very difficult now. Also it is not easy to evict your tenants if they don't pay rent.

How about acupuncturist in UK? easy to get a job ? or to have a private practice? Does NHI hire an acupuncturist? Have USA license , is it easy to change to UK license? if u can have an acupuncturist interview would be great.
I dont think there is acupuncture service in NHS, not 100% sure though.
There're some private ones and they're mostly chinese.

近十年华人做mortgage advice ，大都服务华人，最多的是中国大陆来英投资的，赚很多，英国楼价比香港便宜，是因为英国地大，冇地产霸权，二是贷款不容易，例买一间三十万英镑的屋，要入息证明十万英鎊左右，要人工的三分之一能供的起楼，所以在英国买屋真的是自住，赚不了多少钱的，赚快钱还是香港吧

@@9x9garyfung it's better check with a uk mortgage broker when you're still in Hong Kong. It's hard to get a mortgage after you arrive the UK, with no job and still on a visa.
