@@White_Night_Demon recycling is better, and who moron would spend like 2 days making handmade gears for a transmission, by recycling it helps repurpose old gears and saves the environment

It seems very easy but I challange you it will take a week for you to do the same!!!!!!
He took old gears and repurposed them into a gearbox you can’t buy. It was not a disassembled transmission. The housing is completely 100% hand made. As is every part of the gear selector, hand made. He said it take you weeks but he’s wrong. You wouldn’t be able to recreate that in a couple weeks. It would take you many tries. Many months. And you’d probably still not be able to make it work reliably.
Hahahaha if it is disassembled, it would be hard to look for the parts that has been disassembled for it is completely in a random container of gearboxes parts.

thats what i thought too when I saw a box of random gears, rods and other bits that just happen to be conveniently there.
Sooo, you took a couple shafts from a bike transmission put them in a different case and called it yours? Cool story bro, needs more dragons....
Take a second to realize that this is one of the only people on CZcams ambitious enough to be making this sort of thing. It would be so difficult to talk about or to explain. I'm thankful that he even bothers to document this stuff. Keep making transmission videos. Maybe you can show us how to repurpose the clutch from your motorcycle for a go kart
The title should say: "How to make a 4 speed transmission, out of a 4 speed transmission."
❕So, just so you know, you can just pull the connecting rod out of a motorcycle engine, block-off plate on the cylinder area, and just connect any motor to the existing crankshaft, and you have a wet clutch, a 4 or 5 speed, with perfect tolerances, a case with perfect oiling, and, as a bonus, a built-in alternator/generator. Oh, and, it's as off road proof as the motorcycle you got the transmission from. It's cheap. It's easy. And, works perfect. From the same place you acquired those gears, shafts, and bearings from. The law of the inventor / engineer, is as follows: Never invent, create, or build, anything that is already accessible, easily available, common, or cheap. Example: Why build a weed trimmer, when you can just buy one. There is one unique change on your design. You changed the original sequential, cam and fork system, to a conventional, H pattern. Nice job. Sorry I came off like a negative nancy troll, but this is what the comment section is for, I guess. 🤪👍

You're right about that. I wonder if there's an easy way to adapt a motorcycle trans to have an H pattern, I just crave the old school shifting pattern over a sequential.

Take it as a learning basic project, I never knew how a H pattern works til now, he's not even claiming it's a tutorial or something anyways.
Why is everybody missing the point here? I've learned a lot from this, now I know how a manual transmission works in a very easy way without needing further explanations.
OFC hes not gonna build a transmission from scratch, that would be a very pain in the butt.
Also it allows you to use the internals of a motorcycle gearbox without having to have the entire engine there you can use a different engine

Didn't know I needed to know how to put together a gear box but glad I learned how.
Wish I had a God gifted box full of spare gears and bearings, maybe some keyed shafts, or maybe a a few hundred dollar bills an just buy whatever hell already made.

I have gear bicycle with derailleur shifting which takes too much maintenance and caretaking.... I have already spend too much money for replace too much expensive parts.
If i use this gearbox for bicycle, it will be cheap , tuff and problemless....

Cool idea but the problem is, that it is to permanent. Imagine you have to change a bearing or a gear. You're fucked. You have to disasamble everything with your anglegrinder

When a motorcycle engine dies a transmission usually gets buried with it and this way you get to recycle the part that probably still works

I like how simple it makes understanding how a manual transmission works.
Made easy with the use of a welding machine and electricity ⚡️. I’m sure we can not build this in the bush with out those tools. Looks like a lot of welding. The question now is, is it cheaper to build it or by it?

I was real impressed till i realized 4th gear is only 1to1 not an over drive so no speed gain over not using a trans at all. But you should be able to pull a pickup with your go cart now but impressive work
You could always change the gearing ratio between the gearbox and the axle to get a better top end. At least its something that works well and if you can build your kart properly or around it instead of trying to install this onto one, you can get really creative with speedy karts or even torquie karts, just like you said. Im still impressed none the less.

Very nice and simple, probably best if it had more nuts and bolts for maitenance purposes, but this is not a bad start! Where would you find the spline shafts and gears though, junkyards?

I'm putting this out there that this is better than rather B welding's transmission for a couple reasons #1 it's more simple and #2 it's built with stronger components.
Except rather B welding engineered everything. This guy took components from a different transmission and built a case.

these are from a 100-200cc motorbike, probably a chinese honda-style copy
you can probably add magnets so that you dont have to hold the stick

Yeah be perfect until the slag gets in or one of those weak ass welds break Not to mention he probably toasted one or both of those bearings by welding it very smart but a decent example of how a transmission works
