  • Kitchen faucets for the rv industry have been notoriously unreliable and poor quality. High quality residential faucets are expensive. We found a high quality residential kitchen manufacture with most units available for under $99 dollars. Links and full article below.

    Teflon tape on non-NPT / compression fittings is actually not helpful to prevent leaks. In the compression fitting connections, teflon tape offers no benefits at best and risks bunching up and interfering with the seal at worst. It may even let the fittings vibrate loose over time as it's a lubricating material; something of special concern in RVs. Teflon tape should only be used in tapered or NPT connections, where the seal is made in the threads themselves, and the bunching up of the tape helps make that seal.

    Couple of questions. New to your channel and haven’t seen all your videos yet.
    1. Just upgraded from 28’ gas to 40’ diesel pusher. Big difference in parking and tight spaces. Many parks have a limit on size. Do you find it difficult with 45’ getting around and maneuverability?
    2. Having all that solar and all electric coach do you boondock often?
    3. We had an actual oven in our last coach. Do you find the convection fitting all your needs or do you supplements with a toaster oven?
    Looking forward to your other videos
    Thanks

      Hey Stan, sorry for the delay, we've been crazy with videos and work. The 45' is a tough question since we started with that, for us it just seems natural... But yea she's big, but we've never had issues probably because of the 55 degree wheel cut on the Entegra, seems to turn great. We do need to dump the tag axle though to keep the back tires from dragging in tight turns. Yes to boondocking. Nothing beats a campsite where its just you and nature (and a nice cup of coffee made with plenty of solar lol).

    Great video as usual Erik. What's your thoughts on a pet turning on the faucet while you are away with your grey closed? What about an electronic fault opening while your away, with the grey closed?

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  Před 5 lety +1

      great question. We tested the unit and the "Touchsense" auto shut off does work and turns off the faucet after 60 seconds. As an added bit of protection, since the electronic touch and handle controlled valves are separate, you could just turn off the handle control valve whenever you leave and that would disable the touch system from using any water. What I initially thought was a disadvantage in this design may actually be an advantage for safety/accidental turn ons based on your comment. Good question!

      @@LivinliteNet1 Oh yah,.......your right. Just add it to the things you do before you leave. We ALWAYS turn off the supply water at the bib when we leave. Had an RV at one park spring a leak and water was pouring out the kitchen slide. Of course the rig was locked! People turned off the bib finally.

      @@OurJourneyInMyles oh no! Well I have a good one for you. I turned off the bib and pump to install a new water filtration system. I then realized i was missing a part. Kala went to use the water and found there was no pressure... no problem, i'll just turn on the pump... Still no pressure... oh well i'll move on to something else... Meanwhile the pump pumped 80 gallons of water into our wet bay where the water filter hookups were sitting disconnected... Who's fault was it? We'll i'm married so you guessed it... My fault..lol!

    RV fixtures are the worst. They're made to be lightweight and designed for occasional use. A lot of the full time units still have these lightweight cheap to them, expensive to us fixtures. Rather than ordering cheap parts with $20. shipping, simply swap them out. Adding the shut off valves on units without a manifold, is the way to go.
    When it comes to multiple holes in your countertop or the sink itself, simply add a dish soap, hand soap, and/or hand sanitizer dispensers to utilize those additional holes. Using or purchasing the beauty plate to cover the additional holes is underutilizing what you now have available. You're able to delete yet another item taking up precious space on the countertop. I added two soap dispensers in the fifth wheel kitchen. In the bathroom I added one hand soap and a lotion dispenser. If you boondock often and are satisfied with just hand sanitizer, use one for sanitizer to save water while minimizing bacteria transfer. These dispensers all the same. I simply choose which product to put in them. In the house we originally had four holes cut into the quartz. When we went switched to a single hole fixture, I added the hand and dish soap dispensers and a push button garbage disposal control. I then used the disposal switch to control accent lighting around the toe kick. To reuse the wall switch for the accent lighting requires some electrical work. The disposal button control is plug and play. No electrical work needed.
    A good quality faucet should be made from brass and use ceramic washers for years of trouble free use. One draw back to ceramic washers is your in-laws wrenching the faucet off. There is never a reason to use more than a finger to turn any faucet off. Ceramic washer are great for all applications. But are excellent when you have a lot of sediment in your water. If that is the case you really should add a whole house sediment filter to keep all of your water heater and aerators free of debris. This will ensure the water flowing properly. Use a screen filter on you water RVs water supply hose to keep large sediment out of your filter, water tank, and water heater.
    Thank you for posting. As for knockoff products, US companies are not guilt free when it comes to stealing from foreign companies. As he stated in the video, a lot of goods or components inside those goods, sold by American companies (if they are American owned anymore) come from outside the US. The aluminum and steel in most RVs comes from overseas. Now with the high tariffs, RV prices jumped 3-11% this year. Not to get political here, but trade is good for all. Tariffs are being passed on to us, the consumers. Essentially we're being taxed for not purchasing expensive 100% US made goods with 100% US made components. Let's face it, many foreign products and components are better quality than US manufactured products. Labor is cheaper (when labor conditions meet US standards) overseas because their currency and cost of living is far less than ours. Not all foreign goods are produced in sweat shops or with child labor. It is up to us, the consumers, to avoid foreign products, components, or items containing such items which are manufactured in a way which would violate our labor laws. Many US companies source ethically manufactured foreign goods. Each company sourcing goods has their own idea of ethical. In my opinion, so long as the conditions and pay are equal to US standards, buy that product. Many foreign countries rely solely on trade because they have no other resources. I take great issue with US companies raking in billions in profit by sourcing foreign goods made in horrific conditions. Those companies are simply greedy. Squeezing ever last penny out of disadvantaged laborers, small companies, and struggling economies while boosting rogue regimes. All in the name of insane profits shared by a few.
    I had to take my product to China and Japan (haven't decided which company to use yet) where they can spit out my products using their advanced equipment. Here in the states, I couldn't find a company that could manufacture my product without investing close to $1.8m for the equipment. Even then they couldn't easily source the poly components easily. I, nor the US companies I was working with, had that capital to invest in equipment to manufacture the one product. Let alone the second and third versions that'll follow. In the end the US produced product was 71% more expensive and required multiple companies for different components from springs to packaging. The logistics involved had trucks traveling in every direction just to deliver the components necessary for manufacturing. Then everything needed to be shipped to another facility for packaging. At the facilities in China and Japan, they did everything under one roof. The only shipping involved was to the US warehouse. Follow by distribution to retailers. This streamlined efficiency is "greener", cost effective, and still provides US jobs. Manufacturing in the US would price the item beyond what the market would pay. Without foreign manufacturing, I am out of business before I even start. My product is not a consumable item. The profit needs to be built in to start or retailers won't touch it. As it is retailers make more profit off goods than the companies producing them. Small guys like myself are struggling with the tariffs. Many will be forced to sell their patents and ideas to large corporations. Large corporations can absorb some of the tariffs because they have a diversified portfolio pulling in profits all over the place. Not to mention they already have their distribution in place and simply allocate spaces and resources to handle new products. Where as us small guys have to pass on the tariffs. Once again pricing us out of the market. I totally agree our trade system is flawed and needs fine tuning. As I stated we have large corporations exploiting the system and those they do business with overseas. Greed has destroyed the system.
    Wow. Wandered way on the track.
    Cheers from Seattle!

      yes agreed, we've been really happy with these which are below the price points of camping world stuff and much much better quality. Of course though if you want to go super high end you cant beat the USA made stuff like Kohler and Moen and I'd recommend steering clear of the big box stores for that stuff as its not the same as you'll get in a plumbing supply place... but for the average rv'r, these faucets are a huge step up from what is a normal rv. thanks for the comment!

      Hey Ellis, yea they sold out of a lot of the models but most are in stock but sometimes you need to click the "available from these sellers" links as they have been moving around on amazon for some reason. If you have a model your looking for let us know and we'll help you find it or get an update from the manufacturer.

  • @lanksterprice

    Wait did I miss something? $129??? its not $99
    Its $129 in most stores but then you say there is a $99 version and your using the junk one.... humm
    As told once "Keep it simple" All that tech junk in a RV will turn out to be a new problem..

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  Před 5 lety

      Hey Lankster, check the links above in the description, all the non-touch units are $81-89 without the discount. Same quality as what we installed. Click the coupon checkbox right below the price for an additional 10% off on most units. You'll be in the $75.00 range for the quality unit you saw us install. The touch model is also listed above, that one is $126 before the discoun. The coupon adds another 10% getting you to about $112 for their highest end model. Only get that model if you want touchsense. That feature isn't for everyone. Please note: If you want a top of the line faucet, then go get one at a plumbing supply store as we suggested. If you're going to a faucet that says "for RV" at Camping World or somewhere else anyway, then we think these are much better value and much better quality for less money. Hope this helps, let us know if you have any more questions and hope to see you on the road!

      I can understand your concerns. We were not able to find any US manufacturer that does not manufacture at least some of its components oversees. Moen is probably the best at keeping jobs here in the US, operating 3 US based assembly plants from the information we found. Kohler also assembles in the US, but outsources components to China in a similar fashion. Our Moen kitchen faucet, also featured in the video was over $350.00 and the quality blows away the AOSGYA products but... 3 times the price. Which of those products is best for each person is personal preference and everyone is 100% entitled to make their own choice. What makes America great in our opinion is not just that we can make a better faucet, but that we have the freedom as citizens to buy whichever product we wish in our free and open global marketplace. On a side note, we are currently in talks to begin manufacturing RV specific water filter solutions that are 100% made in America here in South Carolina, every component down to the filter itself. More to come on that in future videos so don't loose all faith in us just yet!
