- EDIT: Had to reupload because of a goof. Enjoy!
Hasbro very kindly gave us the perfect blank slate for custom Mandalorian helmets! It's flawless, it's metallic, it's... relatively easy to pull apart. Join me, and together, we will kill 16 minutes with prop customizing fun.

The mic filter almost makes it sound like Din Djarin is doing a helmet customisation video. Can't help but smile
That smile is why I do it, friend!
Looks great man. The paint and weathering are fantastic! Digging the synthwave music too!
My man! Thanks dude
Bought this helmet to do my custom Mando build and couldn't find a take-apart video that at least EXPLAINED where the clips and electronics and screws were. I didn't want to try to figure it out on my own, since this helmet is well over $100, so thank you so much for this. I did the death watch Mando helmet as my first custom and it was split up differently than Dinn's helmet. A wonderful paint job, and showcase, thanks a bunch, my man! This is the way.
Glad I could help!
The music choice fully sold me. My new favorite Mando channel
the strap squeezes my brain
That strap suuucks
@@daveofalltrades805I much prefer the strap for Din's helmet over Boba's personally.
YES. Glad to see you back!
Thanks my friend!
Nice video, been looking for something like this. Gonna take mine apart just so my head can fit
Thanks friend! New season giving you some inspiration?
Enjoyed watching this
Great job, Dave. Really like the staging shots at the end. Keep it up!
Thanks brother! I gotta live up to some Hollywood standards out here ;)
Never been so frightened of the word "persuading" 🤣🤣🤣 great mod 👍👍
Really appreciate this video. Modding the same helmet myself and nice to see the disassembly process as well as your paint and weathering techniques. This is the way!
I’m glad I’m your kind of people This is The Way
I have spoken.
Great work! Awesome video as well
Beutiful work , LOVE your vids, especially after a bad day it just fixes my mood, an unforeseen byproduct thank you!
That’s so awesome to hear! Thanks
Woah. Grimey! Glad to know we’re your favourite people ;)
Absolutely!
Beautiful work! Looks EPIC!
Your weathering looks really nice 👌
This is so cool, great work!
Thanks so much!
That looks awsome. Design is bang on xx
You make it seem so easy. Keep up the good work!
I'm doing my first repaint for the Boba helmets and your videos have really helped. Your weathering is pretty awesome too! Thanks!
Glad I could help! Have fun
Top notch as always. Solid job!
paintjob top👍
Looks great! I was thinking maybe trying to paint my black series death watch helmet, any tips for someone starting out? Love the vids, keep it up!
I have a video breaking down a Boba prototype, which has got to be the same construction, different paint job. If you’re looking to open it up, check that out - “The Operative” Regardless, draw out some plans or just ideas, have some idea what you want to go for, but be flexible for what happens along the way. I personally prefer low contrast between my colors, as it seems more in-universe, but that’s up to you. Check out the spray paint aisle in person and see what calls to you. Most importantly have some fun and don’t be scared to take some risks
@@daveofalltrades805 Thanks for the tips, I will maybe try out to design a helmet of my own one day.
you did great 👍
can you try doing a stormtrooper helmet?
Awesome
You’re awesome!
This is fantastic in the process of modding my black series Mando helmet (added a RF so far and possibly adding a fin to the top back) then onto the paint job so deo will have this on repeat as I do it. Have you tried using the current battery pack/electronics to add a fan in?
I was just looking into the electrics when a disaster hit and I lost my workspace. If you do it, share with me on Instagram! I’d love to see what you do.
👍👍👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
🙏🏻 ☺️
Having worked on both, what's the chances that the Mando helmet and the Boba helmet ear pieces are interchangeable? Would be cool to put the range finder on the mando helmet if possible!
Beautiful job, what voice system are you using?
Thanks! All I’m using is a personal voice amplifier from amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B071YVHLRP/
@@daveofalltrades805 Your voice is just like Mando, I'm jealous LOL
A little late to the party here, but i'm looking to customize my own Mando helmet with some custom camo designs based on old East German camo. Does the type of spray paint used matter? Any specific brands you recommend for priming or basing before the final color?
Hey man! I’d recommend finding a brand with a satin or matte finish you like, and get the primer from the same company. Sometimes they don’t play nice with each other. I think you’re gonna have fun
@@daveofalltrades805 Thanks! Would you recommend sanding the helmet at all before applying paints? I know some paints work better on a rougher surface.
I’ve been guilty of skipping sanding for a quick paint but I think all the experts recommend roughing the surface for adhesion
Is it, in your opinion, absolutely necessary to take the helm fully apart? Id like to keep the inner design and sinply paint the outside
How does that amplifier make your voice sound like Din Djarin and did you replace the T visor because the vision is horrible?
12:10 it would have been funny if you had used Bounty paper towels and they left a pattern. 😆
Do you think it’s possible to easily disassemble just the front of the helmet to get the visor out without totally disassembling the inside?
You’d have to undo the ears, visor, and unclip the front of the ridge. Seems possible for sure
I did it today not that hard. Need to remove the visor and ear cap screws completely but you can wiggle it out without undoing the clips
What's the music at the background?
Hey RC! The tracks are listed in the description. Shout out to the musical saints that make their work available for little channels like me!
Did you mix the alcohol with the paint?
Are you going to make more videos? It’s been a while…
It has! I had a setback in the form of a house fire, so I’m working on getting re-equipped. I’ll be back!
@@daveofalltrades805 sorry to hear about the fire to your house. I hope no one got hurt.
Does it need to be sanded?
Is there any way I can pay you to do this to mine??? I’m currently putting together my own custom mando suit and the helmet is my final piece
I could, yeah! You did all the rest but you don’t want to do the helmet?
@@daveofalltrades805 correct. I did the inside but I don’t want to paint the helmet and then not like how it came out or accidentally mess up the finish.
Another victim of the Sarlacc pit?
Gotta watch out for them!
Quelle honte, un si beau casque. Tout ça pour arriver à cette horreur. Et en plus il est fier de lui.. 😢😢
i do not know why star wars fans dirty everything up... even inside.. as if they would not clean it from time to time ahhaha
