Questions are asked, the first to hit the buzzer with the correct answer wins the round. Once seven rooms are won, the couple wins the house, valued at $40,000. All commercials intact. Mastered from a 16mm b-w kinescope film.

    That $40,000 prize in 1968 is equivalent to about $341,160.00 today!

      Oh yes, TV guide published a scathing article about the show, which included the couple lost money because some of the homes weren't completed.

      @@sexymama1966 TV Guide reported in 1969 that none of the houses won at that point had been built. So after that contestants could take $20,000 cash in lieu of the house. Since my parents bought their land and built their house in 1972 for $18,000, you could still build a house for $20,000.

      I believe Reid and company ran into similar issues with the 1983 version of the show, which aired on NBC and was hosted by Bob Eubanks.

      We were just lucky I guess. It was mixed in with some films we purchased for the archive. It's sort of fun to see what turns up in these film batches someone stored in their garage for years and years, and are finally cleaning up.

      I think that is Joan Hotchkis. She played Oscar Madison's girlfriend, Dr. Nancy Cunningham on the Odd Couple TV series.
