Everyone is entitled to their own opinion! She is criticizing instead of sharing in my opinion! No hard feelings! Tiffany should use a different approach to share her English learning skill!
支持你的意見,感覺有很多觀眾帶著前設去睇呢段片,而沒有了解片主的用意。其實片中已經強調了很多次同個句子有英式同美式或其他國家的口音,而片主只是引用朱千雪的對白來說明句子的不同用法,看不到有對白批評朱說話的口音。“ 只執著說話的口音好不好聽是膚淺的”
This goes to show how disrespectful and irresponsible people can be on a virtual platform. I bet most of those people have trouble conversing in Cantonese, leave alone understanding English. After all these years the majority of people from Hong Kong still can't see past the accent of a language. What a pity. There is more to a language than meets the eye. A language can reveal a lot about the history and heritage of the people that speak it. The way a person speaks and the words he/she chooses disclose a lot about him/her. A person's language usage and his/her attitude towards mastering the language can show his/her socioeconomic status, intelligence, education level, income potential, ethics, social circle and many more. Moreover, language usage dictates cultural transformation and vice versa. The dynamic of a conversation goes beyond the accent and has more to do with how well the participants adjust to one another's level and style to keep the conversation flowing. Tiffany, please keep up the good work and don't take the negative comments to heart. "Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience." - Mark Twain.
主持人的英文也非常好,解釋得詳細,獲益良多。
多謝你😘 我會繼續努力做得更好了!
可否講講你自己的學歷呀?
其實我覺得幾好 又唔係批評只係教我地點樣學好英文
Tracy English pronunciation indeed sharp and good. And thanks again for youtuber for making this video.
朱千雪英文不错哟~主持人的解析很好!加油💪
長知識 thank you👍🏻
睇得出你其實好用心, 好同情你俾咁多人攻擊, keep up the great work!
Thank you Jeffrey. Very kind of you!!!
Very accurate presentation ! 👍🏼
Sinyi T +1
If you listened to her closely, she actually said "now it's the first time I've actually ever tasted wine". What the actress meant was she went to a sommelier workshop back in Canada but was not given any wine to taste, instead she was able to actually taste wine for the first time ever in HK. I guess those sommelier workshops are not necessarily required to provide any wine for students. :/
Anyhow, keep up the good work! English speakers actually don't care much about grammar when they speak compared to non-English speakers. However this video does help in differentiating the usage of grammar and I think we could all use some reminder from time to time that grammar is equally important in speaking when compare to writing.
Julia Koo 对阿 她指之前early 20 back in Canada, 她曾经做过sommelier, now 这次才是她第一次真正品尝酒
She said 'and now it's the first time I've ever tasted wine' :=) meaning she didn't have a chance back when she was a sommelier and now finally got a chance :-)
主持人做得很好,如果節目有埋字幕解釋就更加好啦!
港姐来讲,佢讲得真系好好,好地道,冲口而出,甚至词汇单词丰富,陈法拉同徐子珊都唔错
我覺得朱千雪人又靚英文講得非常之好,我唔識得講英文呀好慚愧!
你也可以學好!
Also a linguistics major here! Not exactly sure why other people are criticizing you for 'judging' her English because you are not using a subjective opinion but rather explaining the structural and grammatical meaning behind what she is saying. I think the fact that you use celebrities as examples is a good idea as it makes the content more relatable. Please continue doing what you do! As you have mentioned, having a native like accent really does not demonstrate whether one has excellent English skills. At the end of the day, whether you are speaking in a British accent (kudos to you) or any other accent, does not matter as long as you are able to command the language well :) Thanks for making these videos!
good one!
hello!我第一次睇你既片啊 我觉得你讲的真系好好 好清楚啊!所以我就好希望你会出d关于时态既片啊 由于小妹细细个唔识野 无好好读书 大个左出到黎先慢慢从外国人同学 朋友口中学既英文 搞到我d时态语态 非常之奇怪 (因为无基本功) 真系好后悔. Anyway, I am looking forward your new video! I appreciate your share!
Good
Dude ..u totally misunderstood her..she really mean to say 'now' as simply to be at that particular show that she's on
Awesome video.
加油💪🏼唔好理其他人攻擊,我覺得你教得好好
同意,很好的分析。我是第一次看你的 youtube.
其實全程讚緊wor,咁激動做勿,同埋分析下用咩語法有咩問題?
加油
I guess the biggest issue here is that Tiffany looks at English as a subject rather than a communication tool...
对不起,我来晚了😭也可以学英语,还可以练粤语,真香系列🥳
I also got confused when she said 'now this is actually the first time I've tasted wine'. I'm sure she made the mistake because she was speaking quickly but I agree with you that the mistake cam cause a lot of confusion for viewers.
如果可以加字幕更加好, 当然依家都系很好。
如果有字幕更加好
看到楼下的留言我的快晕了……大家可不可以保持著開明的思想來看這個影片 其實她只想想用這個sample來做示範。 加油啊,樓主! I did Applied Linguistic too :P
She studied in Canada. Of course her English should be good, but not everyone.
大马一根葱
可能個教英文的姐姐認為她講的就係唯一正確的英文!
can attest to you that more than half the people in canadian unis can't speak english to save their lives🙂🙂🙂
Cujo19760210 真係架?
@Cujo19760210 / But now he/she is speechless, nobody understands his English.
Language is about communication and commanding a clear accurate understanding from others; be it for listening, writing, speaking or reading. Keep up with your brilliant work! I leant English because I migrated when I was young but I definitely don't possess the grasp of the language as well as you. When English is a first language/taught as a native language, I think Grammar definitely takes a back foot. I still don't know why I use the tenses I do or what a gerund is. Hahahahaha! I suppose that's very common amongst most English speakers.
The rich ppl drink wine that showcase high tastes
朱千雪英文根本非常流利。
👍🏻
如果有字幕就更加好了
tiffany好似我中學英文老師咁🤣🤣🤣🤣唔洗錢咁比心機教人真係好難得😭😭😭😭
It’s better for u, Tiffany to demonstrate how better your English is in a causal conversation. Not only pinpoint other’s minor mistakes
Looking forward to producing more videos where I can demonstrate how one can speak better English in a casual conversation, Andy.
Mistake pinpointing is not the point of this video. There's a saying that goes like this in English: "Shoot for the moon and if you miss, you will still be among the stars." (訂下如奔向月亮的遠大志向,縱使不能到達,也會躋身於繁星之中。) A similar saying in Chinese goes like this: 「取法乎上,僅得其中;取法乎中,僅得其下」
I think these sayings tell us that aspiring to perfection in honing a craft, be it English speaking or anything else, will go a long way. That's why I always aspire to be as accurate and error-free as I can be. Of course, that's not always something easy to achieve.
This video is not meant to pinpoint anyone's mistakes. They are a means of expression of such an attitude. Hope my clarification will clear the air! ;)
I agreed with you! I don't think there's any problem with Tracy's English. Her accent is great and nothing wrong with her choice of word. This youtube lady is so full of it bahahahhaa!
Andy Leung
Where did she “pinpoint other’s minor mistakes “. Do you have a problem understand 广東話 or English for that matter.
Support
佢係加拿大長大。very natural.
when she said "now that was the time I actually tasted wine" she was right. Native speakers do not have to worry about grammar and sometimes doesnt even know the correct grammar because it is so natural and all of this crap you are saying, doesnt mean anything
The vast majority of native speakers have an instinctive understanding of grammar even though they may not be able to explain the rules explicitly, Kelly. And that doesn't mean that second language learners don't have to understand how grammar works.
Hope that clarifies the matter!
Boo ya, you're so right ! ! Kelly i feel you gal ! !
I believe Tracy said "now that was the first time I actually tasted wine". We do that a lot here... something to the effect of "now THAT was something". I'm not a grammar expert, but for me, I usually use it to emphasize what I am about to say.
The thing that is funny about this video is that this "Tiffany", whoever she is, is commenting on the English grammar and pronunciation of 朱千雪, who is speaking in flawless, completely unaccented American/Canadian English. Tiffany breaks down each of 朱千雪's sentences, repeats it, and then makes a comment on what she thinks of it. The irony here is that Tiffany's own English, although quite good, is clearly accented, and not at the native-speaker level of the person she is commenting upon. I'm a decent ping pong player. But if I were to critique the technique of Ma Long? That would be similar to what's happening here :P
Your argument, although well-phrased and interesting, may not be as convincing as it sounds. There are film critics who will comment on how films are made (Just look at how many people are criticising how the latest Star Wars film was made), though they themselves may not be film makers. Does the fact that they are not film makers mean that they know little about film making? Does their not being film makers disqualify them from being critics? I was trying to dissect and analyse what was good and perhaps not so easy to understand about Tracy's English. Does that mean I was saying my English was better than hers?
And pronunciation and accent, while without doubt IS an important part of a language, isn't EVERYTHING. Using a language well is also about choosing the right structures and expressions to convey what you mean. I hope I have made myself clear.
> I'm a decent ping pong player. But if I were to critique the technique of Ma Long?
如果你熱愛乒乓,對乒乓也有一點的執着,你也可以去評論啊。若言之有理,又何嘗不可?
與芬尼學英語 Finnie's Language Arts I love your work and analysis! I am a Native English teacher and can definitely hear your British accent. You must have put a lot of time into this. Kudos
how good is your english HOST?
Great explanation. But you are not qualified enough to comment on her accent. Let’s not forget she’s a Canadian. It’s like a foreigner that could speak Cantonese judging a Hong Konger’s native Cantonese accent. Maybe it’s just me but don’t see the point here.
因為佢係要教non native speakers點去明白個口音﹗如果一個西人既廣東話老師,用返香港藝人講廣東話既片段,去教返佢既西人學生,點樣去聽同學正式既廣東話,你又會話人地無資格?
(without going into Tracy's video)
I think Tiffany breaking down each definition and explaining the pronunciation habits would really assist those who are learning English. Even where I'm from, pronunciation hasn't been an issue from the internationals, but the habits like how she said "twenty" = "twennie" is something English learners can really take away from this because I don't even realize I say it either. Maybe not everyone agrees with her critique but there are positive aspects to learn.
Ironically watching this I think Tiffany has helped explain the English language in Cantonese terms more, great job.
个人感觉有字幕好滴
有字幕更好
Oh exact7ly! Yeah!
我个人其实觉得条片唔错啊,我觉得甘样噶方式学到唔少表达方式。有个建议啊,其实你可以不可以将key words, 例如一些关键词啊,词组甘,标在个视频度啊。例如,你话‘品酒’果个词,不好斋拼出来啊,mark在个video好好多。
多謝你 我地有喺新dvideo裡面做多d text effect,希望幫到你!
踩過界度法規度好聽
Kay Chau 係?我睇下先!
You got a very strong Cantonese accent in your English speaking!
there is no "got"
conan2209 serious ?
You've got a very strong Cantonese accent in your spoken English**
What's wrong with having a Cantonese accent in her spoken English? She is a Hongkonger. You should never be ashamed of your own accent as long as your pronunciation is correct. Even in Britain, people from different districts have a range of accents. Aussies have an Australian accent and American got an American accent. But none of them are ashamed of their accent despite their potential preferences to a certain accent.
Fisher Lam agreed. There is nothing wrong with having a Cantonese accent. In fact I think an accent is a great representation of where one comes from. Language serves the purpose of communication. As long as one is understood by another person, the spoke language has fulfilled its purpose.
Tracy said "quite interesting" and I just wonder why you read back as "trite interesting"? In this case, who speaks English better?
其實係因為d comments我先認真睇條片 其實佢都無話朱千雪d乜 只不過分析姐
I appreciate what you are doing by analysing how different people speak english but i think you can be more precise and shorten your comments. Honestly, you sound like you are nitpicking...
香港人講廣東話語法都唔會太執著
你又知?你代表晒所有人?
請問主持人 這條片現在有多少個like 是要完整數字 不是約數
其實英文Rap都好想學習,雖然是黑人美語。
I love 畚箕婆
How about removing all fillers when you speak "like", "actually"...
朱千雪基本上系土生加拿大人,距讲野就同其他加拿大人一样系北美发音。非常自然唔需要练习
其實如果有字幕會好好多
我覺得起碼某D 字句會有已經好好多 . 因為有d字太深
批評係冇問題嫁,佢真係做錯講事實係好正常
其實我覺得幾好啊咁先可以多角度學英文
keysia crazhynez 我都这样认为!!
youngER not youngAH
kristina that's true!
u didnt quite understand what tracy said. hear it over again.
lol can this channel at least get someone who can speak english without a blaring canto accent to educate people on sounding natural?
I understand that accent is not the sole point of her 'analysis' - but surely I'm not the only one who finds it ironic that the critic sounds far worse than the subject... (as one can see from the comments on this video..)
czcams.com/video/ryH5cga0yUI/video.html
其實你地都可以聽下英國人Kate Nash點發er呢個音啊,有d英國人講er都會講成ahhh音
同埋邊度講嘢monotone,可否指名?
我冇講過因為她令女大家覺得她的英文好聽 我想你誤會了
Kyo K CHAN 👍Ms T acting like a back seat driver who does not have a driving license to show a driving learner how to drive.
Gary Chu 佢勁鐘意correct人地d typing mistake. 佢d中文水平線=令女
把聲有啲似stephy
真的嗎?沒有人這樣說過啊~~
Ks 黃心穎都ok
即係呢有啲人英文學得唔係咁好唔係咁精通,就唔鍾意聽呢啲比較批判性嘅說話😂人哋都唔係為批評而批評好唔好 calm down la 香港人
nice teeth
i think ur English still has room to be improved!
po ting Tam looks like you too.
Has room to improve
"Leaves much room for improvement"
W
