The journey with Sohyang is absolutely amazing, and could even be soul-cleansing where needed. While her voice is what gets attention first, her soul is what we need to learn through her music.
Others already pointed it out that this program is Immortal Song 2. Sohyang did appear on I Am A Singer 2 in Korea. Dimash joined the I Am A Singer in China so they never appeared on the same program. This is trivial but want you to have the correct information.

Can you believe she learned English watching American TV shows on Korean television? She's never lived in an English-speaking country but is very proficient in English. When she speaks conversational English she does have some trouble with her "r"s but her English-language singing is impeccable as you observed.

My favorite song she has sang is "Hug Me"
Wait till you find out how much higher she can take her mixed belt. This was on Immortal Songs, which in order are Lean on Me, Arirang Alone, BOTW, Childish Adult, Everyone and You Raise Me Up. Every one of those songs is great by the way and worth a reaction for sure. The other series she's been in were I Am Singer 2 in 2012, King of Masked Singer in 2017 and she just finished a run in Begin Again Korea. You really can't go wrong with any of the songs from any of these series, she is that good.
She is just perfection. Technique, soul, texture, range, emotion delivery, communication with audience and everything. World-famous singers including dimash lacks at least one of them.
I love your reaction because that is the same reaction when I listening to her. She sings from her soul. South Korea is very strict with copyright so you need to pause more and talk. I know it is hard when you forget to do it because when she sings it is so captivating. She arranged all her songs i.e. she own it.
That is not I am Singer from China. That is Immortal Songs 2 from South Korea singing competition.
She is a cancer survivor and devoted Christian. She doesn't go for wealth and fame but to inspire and comfort people with her singing.

Great reaction and thank you! Have followed her for about 7 years and she can sing anything, jazz Pop ballads, rock , rap , traditional gospel( she is a gospel singer and very devoted! She has turned the big record companies down 3 times because she sing to make those going through hard times feel better! Her live has not been easy either! In Asia many say she is the Queen and Dimash is the King! She has written several novels(Anaxion and Crystal Castle are the best sellers as well as several Christian books! )( her song, The Day Was Sunny Kissed, is about the day when she was 18 ,I believe and she met Jesus) She teaches voice at Baekseok University in Cheonan City, Korea! She has sung in Churches in 62 countries , many times in Churches in the USA. She is all about the emotion in each song and delivering a message of Hope and Love! She does her own arrangements, has written quite a few songs but does a lot of covers and has improved everyone I have heard!

Nice reaction. Btw, here is some clarification based on what I heard in your intro. The "I am a Singer" show originates from S. Korea's MBC programming and Sohyang was part of season 2 in 2012. After the show started in early 2011, it only lasted for 3 seasons. MBC licensed out the show to China so that's how Dimash ended up there years later. China's version started in 2013 and so far 8 seasons. It's a similar thing with MBC selling the "King of Mask Singer" license to Fox in America (although they call it "The Masked Singer"). Speaking of the KOMS, Sohyang had 6 straight wins on that show in 2017 so check out her awesome performances. As a side note - Immortal Songs 2 was created by KBS in mid-2011 to compete against MBC's "I am a Singer." Interestingly, Immortal Songs originally aired from 2007 to 2009. Several months following the original airing of I am a Singer in 2011, it was revived as Immortal Songs 2 (Singing the Legend). Ironically, the latter show still airs...up until at least May of 2020. I believe COVID-19 disrupted it. Sohyang performed on Immortal Songs 2 a total of 6 times...2014-2016 and once in 2018.
Never disappointed!!!! Her best friend is Park Ki-young. She is a contemporary pop and some rock singer. Well, she decided to try Classical, and try it she did!!! "PARK KI-YOUNG NELLA FANTASIA" both are class acts!!

This is not I am a Singer this is Immortal Songs 2 it is still considered a competition though the audience of 500 will vote sentimentality or popularity sometimes and So Hyang even then was not well known ( by her choice .. you'll understand once you know more of her background) even though her CCM career spans 20 years .. the concept of the show is for Singers/Groups to rearrange/compose classic Korean (and sometimes Western) songs into something new while still keeping the essence of the original song intact.

There are two representative vocal competition shows in S.Korea.
One is MBC's "I am a singer 2" and the other is KBS's "Immortal songs 2"
Korea's "i am a singer" gained great popularity in China and eventually they bought the copyright and remake it with thorough advice from MBC
The show that dimash gained popularity is the Chinese remake version.
Also, did you know that the "king of the masked" show being produced all over the world is also a format exported by MBC in S.Korea?
This is KBS's immortal songs2, and her first major broadcast appearance was MBC's i am a singer2 in 2012.
"2" in the show name is not the concept of the season.
MBC and KBS are representative public broadcasters in S.Korea, and they are rivals.
"I am a singer" and "Immortal songs" started as a corner show of sunday variety shows by their respective broadcasters, and later became separate and independent shows and became "2".

Immortal Songs differs from I Am a Singer in that each episode is stand alone about a theme. Established professional singers are paid for their performances, do not move on to another round nor awarded prizes. Her six IS performances were spread from 2014 to 2018. She also had great performances in the MBC DMC festival such as her famous 2015 "I Have Nothing:. As others noted she had many amazing performances on Begin Again Korea June-August this year.

I also notice some varying responses regarding Sohyang's age. Not a big deal but it'a still important to be accurate due to differing cultures. She and I are the same age - we're both 42 since we were born in 1978. Many Koreans will say she is 43 based on the lunar calendar. Either way, she still looks damn good and her vocals are even more refined in my humble opinion. Sohyang has aged gracefully like a fine wine.

Search for 4th Impact - they are 4 sisters from The Philippines and they have harmonies that will literally blow your mind. They auditioned for X Factor UK 2015 and their audition video has more than 169 Million views ----but every song they have on you tube will astound and amaze you. i HOPE THAT YOU MAY GET AROUND TO REACTING TO 4TH iMPACT.
