It`s the song that Dimash wanted to perform on the stages of the world, to promote the kazakh culture. And now he does just that. His father`s friend wrote the musical arrangement for this beautiful song, a kazakh folk song, that Dimash turned into an international hit. The performance I gave you the link for, is from his first solo concert, a performance that nobody forgets, to this day. At the end of the song he kneels and has tears in his eyes, happy to have achieved his dream and that the crowd sang along with him. "Daididau" is based on a poem written by a kazakh poet, while wrongfully imprisoned by the soviet regime. He was told falsely that his wife had left him, and he wrote the poem thinking of her.
Dimash`s performance is amazing - even though both his in-ear monitors broke at the beginning of the song, and he gave up on them. Also, there are english subtitles, don`t forget to turn them on :)

The instrument you inquired about is called a Kobyz. The Kobyz (co-biz) or kylkobyz (keel-co-biz) is an ancient Turkic bowed string instrument, spread among Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. The Kyrgyz variant is called the kyl-kyyak. The qobyz has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather.
Also I'm kind of wondering why after introducing the song as a traditional Kazakh song you would somehow make the connection that the scenery was like being in Tibet. Why wouldn't you make the connection that that would be the scenery from Kazakhstan which it is.
