- Today we're going over 5 huge tips for sim drifters. I will be letting you know what kind of sim drifting equipment to choose from. Some of my past sim-drifting mistakes and how to practice drifting. On PC you have better options for Sim-Drifting, for example you can use a cheaper eBay handbrake. PC games also support mods so you can make your drifting feel a bit better, but it's possible to be a sim-drifter on consoles as well. If you want to know what are the best drift games for sim-drifting then I have a separate video on that below.

Question of the day: *What tips would YOU give for beginner Sim-Drifters?*
I am a beginner lol
Im begginer ):
Never give up! 🔥
Use the BRAKE
I don't know I don't play drift games 😥
I wish I can play drift games on PC ❤️
the hero we all needeeeeddddddd!!!!
Bro you gotta do sim drift tips video as well, we'll be waiting!
I always noticed about slaptrain....
He always end with the same letter but he extends it
@@remyarajan1982 Ahahahah man’s not wronggggggg ;) see what I did there ahah
@@TheSLAPTrain1 It brings me great joy to see you in this comment section lol
G29 or Logitech? Your choice
I have a g29 with shifter and pedals. I was just drifting around and it all of a sudden just clicked for me. I'm able to connect a few corners together without hitting the wall. A big tip I would would give new Sim drifters leaning is throttle control. It's a lot harder with out it
Very nice!
@@Goosiest yes
Fellow G29 enjoyer here, is it just me that can drift easier with car pack like WDTS, ADC than using the base drift car on AC or everyone with G29 experienced this thing too?
@@rikokenz I don't have ac yet been thinking about getting it. I usually drift around in fh5 and beamng
@@tonygamer83nomaxnocap70 ah i see. I'm struggling on early days using the base car from AC because the force feedback not spinning fast enough to countersteer the drift. I thought that because of the gear drive that G29 used. But after I downloaded the ADC car pack I can drift easily. Idk why. Maybe because of the tuning of the car
Anyway, let me know when you decided to try AC maybe we can do some tandem. Cheers 🥂
One of my two biggest advices Goose has covered, which was patience. The one, which is very very important espacially when your learning is to try and not use the handbrake. You should have a handbrake but try to not use it! Do clutchkicks, flicks and so on but try to stay away from the handbrake and only use it when chasing somebody or to get out of a bad situation. You can also use it if you want to do a very long entry, but try to not over use it. And the same is for left foot braking. Dont overuse it, but you can use it more than the hamdbrake.
1:50 G29 was selled at 400$ for just a year, from 2016 there's so many way to get it around 200$ or even 180$.
So there's a very big price difference between t300rs and G29.
I got a new g29 for €165 off of a Facebook electronics market page, the cheapest t300 I found was €280 used.
Yup and most t300rs on my local marketplaces are selling for $200+ with the shitty base two pedal setup and no shifter lol. G920s are a dime a dozen for around $150 with 3 pedals and shifter. Definitely a great starter option.
@@deresolute1061 true! That's the reason why I bought the g29, I had just 200€ and I went for it because there's a great base with 3 pedals and H shifter with 35€.
Thrustmaster t300 have a great motor but nothing else, so you must buy the 3 pedals and H shifter (is better but you need 170€ to purchase it).
So total of g29 with 3 pedals and H shifter? 235€
Total for t300 with 3 pedals and H shifter? Around 470€
@@adaddylicious1748 I picked up an older t300 for £100 and a 458 tx for 50, so it is possible to get a t300 for cheap but it's just a matter of waiting
I’m in aus and can’t find anyone under 400 and I’m trying to get one for 300. Help?
I can agree the tip number 6 made me a pro drifter, I suddenly started throwing reverse entries, 360s and I even started to do tandem in actually *NO TIME*
Thank you Goose. This video helps me so much, you wouldn't believe it. I started about 4 months ago with a second hand G29. I hadn't gone too far until I saw this video. Now that I have a clearer idea, I'm going to follow all those steps and become a better sim drifter. Wish me luck and I might send some clips in the future! Good luck to you newbies too... Go for it and drift!
Right on!
tip #2 is very true, i drifted on controller for a while and got good enough to link tracks and do 360 entries and stuff like that on carx and forza but when i first got my wheel setup on assetto corsa it was a lot more challenging but also more fun. even when you have a little bit of experience it can still take a while to learn new tracks, ones like narrow touge's especially take a lot of practice for me. also i agree with other people who say you should focus on learning without the handbrake first. I didn't have one my first few weeks and i learned to link my first few tracks without it, it helps you learn to use the throttle and clutch and then mix the handbrake in when it actually helps. one other thing i think if you get a g29 it's good, but in my experience sometimes the force feedback isn't quite as strong as you would like so just letting go of the steering wheel and then catching it doesn't give you enough counter steer. it helps if you kind of throw it yourself and then let go so it's rotates faster.
I've been using WDTS car packs since I bought AC last year and at that time I only have budget wheels and didn't get a feeling of FFB. This year, using the same car pack and got a G920 from my friend, I feel that I've progress a little. Every now and then, I always practice and hone my drifting skills even when I'm working full time. I hope for the best of luck for those that started drifting
i have a thrustmaster T500RS and a next level racing next up is only to get a hand break, been drifting abt half a year now huge difference from when i started out. Keep motivated guys and thanks to goosiest for a great video yet again!
Good luck
Setup for asseto corsa drift?
Loving the videos Goose 🤘🏻 your videos have got me through some really dark times in my life recently and your uploads always keep my going, Thank you Bro 🙏🏻 much love man ❤️
Thank you so much goose! I love watching your videos and you helped me so much with this. You are literally my inspiration for sim drifting and I’ve been looking up to you for so long💯💯🔥🔥
glad goosiest has progressed that much, remember watching him when he had 1k subs
as someone who just now has like 70 ingame hours on assetto corsa all drifting, I don't believe you should get a hand brake off the bat. Learning throttle control, clutch kick and different feints is much better to develop. Although I'm not quite there yet lol. And definitely don't cheap out on the wheel etc I was thinking about it and decided to buy a logitech wheel instead of some other cheap thing I saw on amazon and am so glad I did.
As someone with 7+ years drifting assetto I'd disagree, having one isn't the problem, using it to much is ✌️
@@mrmalavey1098 Yes but he's saying that withoit a handbrake, you can't use it as a crutch so your only option is to use foot brake. If you have the handbrake you might develop bad habits with it.
i've had my wheel since december 3rd ish, and I've been drifting since. I've improved A LOT and im drifting through various tracks on assetto corsa with ease. however, it's hard to perfect tandems and touges because clutch kicking isn't always reliable when I need to adjust. I've been thinking about a handbrake lately, should I pull the trigger?
Logitech is cheap
Just started, found a few tutorials and they really helped. It’s very hard at first but you will make progress. Start in a big flat open area, project touge was an assetto corsa mod that has a huge skid pad but find one and do donuts until you’re comfortable then start doing figure 8’s until you’re ready to hit a track.
Also watch goosiest and haugen racing videos, instant stat boost
Thank you brother!! Really appreciate it!! Started with a G29. That first tip is what I need to do now.
I had no idea the tando buddies cars were bad to use :( I made all my progress using those cars. I saw Slaptrain use them so I figured they would be good.
don't worry it probably won't take too long to relearn
@@scribtz2241 I hope so! I downloaded the WDTS pack now, lets see how that goes!
I started on them too and when I switched to WDTS cars it was a bit frustrating at first but now I never really drive anything else. in fact tandobuddies are really kind of boring once you get the hang of some better cars
@@scribtz2241 It's not bad, Tando Buddies was one of my first car packs, going from that to VDC public is challenging but so rewarding
Tando buddies is not that bad actually..it's good for a beginner to get the hang of drifting and muscle memory. Very big thanks to the modder who create that pack, i can drift any other pack now 👍🏻
A money saving and efficiency tip; Use a flight joystick as a handbrake. I use a Thrustmaster T.16000m I bought for Elite Dangerous, works perfectly
Man I'm just now really gettin into sim drifting and needed this Goose!! Thanks bro!🔥🚘
I like these videos you make! Continue with it its fun to watch!
Practice throttle control early on, as well as learning when to let the wheel do its thing until it needs corrected throughout the drift, if you have force feedback. And another huge tip is use your ebrake, but don't rely on your e brake
Been drifting on my g29 for 5 years now. I've made lots of progess, my dad has been teaching me how to do foot work steering and he knows what he teaching me because hes a real drifter and I've never recorded my first day. You guys dont have to record u can just keep learning it's up to u u dont have to record and if u drift in real life and u drift on sim the sim might help u a little with ur real life drifting. I love sim drift❤
This is the perfect time for this vid considering I just started sim drifting .Thx for the tips btw
I'm totally new to sim racing but are used to real driving for a couple of years now. It's a passion. Stronger than any other in my life. I bought AC and used an old Logitech wheel with maybe 20 bucks. Only two paddles and no force feedback of course. For racing only it was enough but when I tried drifting I was frustrated pretty quick. There was just no way to control the car so I snapped, took my last money and bought a T300RS GT. I watched some videos for Tipps and tried several hours. On the second day I was already able to manage some stable and decent drifts on the Japanese drift map. Since I have no handbrake I only initiate the drift with the clutch but for now it's okay. I even went online and drifted with some other dudes and managed to keep up most of the times. I am really proud of myself :)
Have been drifting on my t300 for 5 days now, as you said, suddenly I got good. Man it feels great! After 2 days I started letting wheel slide. After that it got a lot better. My last video is a clip of today
Great to hear!
Im too broke for all the stuff
I remember when i was struggling at drifting, but now when im experienced at drifting and know what to do, it feel sooo good. U inspired me to drift, thank you Goosiest
Keep it up
I’ve been looking at getting a setup for years and I haven’t really committed to it because of the cost. I’ve been bouncing it around lately if I should just spend the money or not. Let’s just say your first point really hit me
I would also like to add a tip regarding the mods: Try out different mods, the harder mod to drift the more you learn. For example, after you mastered the WDT pack try out VDC or switch between street cars & comp cars. The different characteristics of each mod will make you realise the imperfections in your technique you otherwise won't realise if you stick with the same mod & will eventually make you a more precise driver.
tip 1 slamming the disc break stops car steering (wheels need to turn)
tip 2 lows gears increase power (IE drifting occurs when back wheels try to overtake the front ones) high gears increase traction. so shift down to send your car into a spin, shift up to recover or stop the drift
tip 3 if you you get your gear and speed right before the turn then just turning early will give a good drift for most corners
tip 4, breaking hard (normal break) will throw the weight of your car to the front so be sure to accelerate into a corner to throw your back end out
tip 5, drifting is often entirely unnecessary and a great way to get bopped off the track so check your surroundings even those stripy things on the ground will ruin your day if you go over them.
I have a Thrustmaster TX-SW Racer Sparco with a TM Handbrake/SQ Shifter and a OEM steering wheel and the feeling is just amazing, when I started playing I just could not connect drifts and the wheel was extremely sensitive, as soon as I increased the angle it really helped. Thanks.
did you buy just the base and customize the rest? or did you buy the bundle and swap the wheel? Im asking because i want to keep the pedals with the base.
Thank you i learned a lot of things about sim-drifting u have my respect
Hey goosiest im a huge fan love your sim drifting skills, but just wanted to say that i drove in gran Turismo sport and only had paddleshifts and yet still managed to drift awesomely
Nice work!
@@Goosiest thanks bro your my icon
"And as always, stay sideways" Bro I love this! Haha
😁
I dont see any problem with starting out with Tando buddies if you are completely new as it gives satisfaction of being able to drift even if badly but what it does teach you is the basic muscle memory needed. Like catching the wheel, left foot braking etc. I started with them, didnt use them long then I jumped to ADC & ADC420 cars which have waaaay better physics and nice power. Just had to adjust to the more realistic physics but the muscle memory was pretty much already there. I would love to record some footage but not 100% sure on the best way to go about it as I only use VR for drifting on assetto and im not sure my pc could cope. Great video Goose! Loved it as always! Very informative. I've learnt alot watching you over the years. Keep up the great work! Oh and btw the Logitech G923 is a huge improvement over all earlier versions it has a newer/faster processor and you can really feel it on transitions, barely throwing the wheel anymore like i was with a DFGT lol
ADC & Tando Buddies helped me a lot to understand the basics and how to get sideways. After that it cost me about 3 days to move on to WDT cars. But it worked well and now I'm a happy simdrifter. :)
7:31 yess guys this is the ultimate truth listen to this guy its 💯% true!!!
IMO You should just start at 900 degrees, it feels a lot more complicated at first but I think it's kind of like with the tandobuddies cars. best to just learn it the right way straight away. also while 900 degrees may feel a bit harder it is a lot better as it allows for a lot more smooth/fine inputs. like with 540 degrees it's easier to go from lock to lock but the "balancing point" (for lack of a better word) is also a lot smaller.
Perfect timing, just got my first proper wheel setup (T300RS GT) and I suck at drifting in Assetto Corsa, I think that 540 degrees of rotation will be better for now, thanks!
The truth is that the tip that served me the most was #6, the truth is when I watched this video when it just came out I wasn't subscribed, now 2 months later I saw the video again and this time I subscribed and I already feel significant progress 😍
Me with keyboard watching this 😪
Ever since I’ve started watching your videos I’ve been practicing and your videos help a lot!
That's awesome!
The first to go in depth with steer wheels n gear thanks mate much appreciated
Thanks for the tips goosiest i was waiting for this vid, it rly helped me out
Glad to hear it
Thanks to u i buy my first steering wheel 2 years ago, i learn from your videos, Ctoretto and other youtubers, rlly your are like a teacher to me in the sim-drifting, Thanks for all man
Happy to help!
Thank you for your time and great video 👍🏽 I liked and subscribed ❤️
Thank you for tips! They will help me in future 🔥💯
(Yes, i feel that Goose power)
Goosiest, Because of the number 4, i started to learn more, and now i see how i was drifting on day 1. So Thank you
I was just starting to get into sim drifting and racing and was really struggling with drifting in AC. I really want to get back into it but atm I have broken bones in my chins but I hope that these tips will help me improve
I like these videos you make! I'm glad you are doing well keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
literally bought and got my first wheel yesterday. i don't have a shifter for it yet but i do want one. thanks for the tips, here's a sub.
thank you for the information im getting a cockpit and in the future im getting a Fanatec setup this will help out for sure
man this helped A LOT thank you so much, i actually subbed i might need more tips :))
Love your vids man
Tando Buddies was one of my first car packs just for the looks, moved on to VDC public cars since i like the feel of those a lot better but Tando Buddies is always fun to go back to
Super motivating vid for low-key sim drifters, thank you goosiest!
Glad you like them!
Goosiest I just wanna say thank you. I've been watching you for a while and your videos helped me learn to sim drift. I've been playing carx and can connect most the map now.
Glad to help
1 year ago i joined a random server in carx on red rock map. When i was playing it (on keyboard) i was horrible. I was crashing in every corner. Now i have g920 setup with shifter and red rock is one of my favourite maps. And i can do 360 entry in every corner :)
Tip for new players? Dont give up, really. If you are not the best, remember: Practise makes perfect!
Great video! Super nice edit btw, shoutout to editor! Happy that you're making those "tips" videos, will help a lot of people :D Getting my wheel tomorrow, so hope i can sign for a private lesson D: ;)
Wheel tomorrow? Nice! Don't tell me it's a G29 haha
Ofc it is!... nah jk, it's t300 rs gt
Thanks for the video. I bought my set up a couple of weeks ago and man... It is difficult, but I'm getting there. I do agree with recording yourself, I started doing it last week and I have improved by seeing my mistakes. Maybe one day I'll have my own youtube channel😂
THANK YOU SO MUCH IN NEEDED THIS VIDEO
I am so glad I went with wdts and not something like VDC which I came really close to using for drifting practice.
Glad I watched this, been looking at the g923 but after you saying it was pretty loud think ill go the extra for the thrust master
Thank you Goosiest!!!
I was actually drifting on tandobuddies pack all the time but when I got WDTS pack it wasn't really that hard since I learned from the tandobuddies but still there was some good grip which made it realistic but one day, we gonna be pro at it.
7:43 holyyyy shiii Goose is JACKED
bro, thanks for motivation, i def now want a sim setup
Go for it!
Yes Goose! Please do a video on how to be a sim drift CZcamsr!
Hey goose I've been following for a while since one of your first videos I'm glad you are doing well keep it up!
Hey, thanks!
I gave up the last time I tried drifting but now that I want to be a pro sim drifter and I saw this video I’m not giving up this time,Thanks Goosiest🙏🤟
i practice everyday before bed if gone from spin outs to actually staying on the road and after seeing this ill deff keep it up
For beginners i would recommend using some gloves on a wheel. You can get either better grip or if you're using thrustmaster T150 or TMX it can save your plastic part from being sticky.
I just started Sim drifting on live for speed. I've only been doing it for 5 days as of today and I've already seen loads of progress. I'm using a g920 for the time being until I can afford to upgrade my setup but it works for now.
Hey Goose, I upgrading my setup soon and I'm moving from thrust master Ferrari wheel to Logitech g920 with a shifter and this video will really help me (big fan).
Give this man a trophy for giving us real PRO tips🥳😎🤩😇
I casually play Forza Horizon 4, I'll be getting FH5 soon and who knows, maybe I'll get into Sim racers as well!
One thing is certain though, you convinced me to subscribe with that awesome science pitch!🤣
I got a G920 for Christmas last year and i felt exactly what you said; like it wasn’t good and i considered selling it but I like it enough to stick with it.
Just got my wheel setup, time to put work in💯
amazing i love this video bro keep up the good work goose and as always stay sideways💪💪
Appreciate it
@@Goosiest 💪🤗🤗❤
Thanks for the help man❤️❤️
No problem 👍
Helped me so much sheesh!
just got my first sim set up still need a handbrake. I love your videos!
Yes number 6 works indeed when i subscribed to goosiest i have gotten better at drifts
What's funny is I've been racing professionally and in amateur series' for about 14 years now. I drive on track almost weekly. I'm an FIA Silver driver. I have a full motion ready sim with a Simagic Alpha Mini wheel, Heusinkveld pedals, VLM shifter, and a hydro e-brake using a master cylinder from my R8 GT4 I raced before I retired. I can drift in real life easily.
I say all of that because you make me look like an 8 year old that has never seen a steering wheel in their life. I have top of the line equipment and years of real life experience. It just goes to show that practice makes perfect. You don't need to spend a fortune. You just need to do it and be determined.
Great tips, I will be applying these! Thank you.
Let's goo I just got a wheel for Christmas! This will help so much
Your vids are fire🔥dont give up
Definitely nice lessons they just motivated me to buy sim racing setup and start learning Drifting and when I am good at Drifting I will upload some of recorded videos thanks goose
You can do it!
@@Goosiest thx
I'm here, a year later, starting my SIM SIdeways journey! The suck is REAL.. Thanks for the support Goose
I am a beginner and I'm actually trying to learn all I can about the sport and follow tips from irl drift, so I can try to apply it on my virtual practice. Also I am practicing grip racing because I think it can be helpful to understand the car's reactions and get more sensible about it.
I've tried grip racing but I just can't get the hang of it. But drifting just clicked for me the other day so I've been doing that. What wheel do you have bro
@@tonygamer83nomaxnocap70 Yeah, it's hard but if you like it you can practice. I choose a car and track and practice for like 5 days or 1 week until I can have a decent performance. If you do it with patience and trying to reach the limit it gives you some nice feedback about your pedals (braking efficiently without ABS and hitting the gas pedal without spinning can be really difficult depending on the car) try starting with low HP AWD and you will make progress. I use a G27 bro.
Thank you goose. I'm a new sim drifter and I wanna be good like you
i spent 3 yrs using a BUDGET thrustmaster wheel with no force feedback and i got really good on it but i’ve just got a new g920 so now i have to learn all over again
really good video goose keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
I like your video and your set up
when I started, I recorded when I had 5 hours of play, I didn't make a turn without turning, with 24 hours I improved a lot.
ps: keep it up you get better
I wish I had recorded myself when I started out. I can drift really good now not as good as Slap and stuff but seeing me go from slamming into every wall full force to connecting the whole map flawlessly would be satisfying.
Practice really is all it takes. I started with like 510 rotation too lol it's more of a building up to it and training in the muscle memory.
the sience works! im subed and have notifications on.
Preciate the breakdown
YESS I NEEDED THIS
Holy crap it worked! A few months ago I subbed. I'm now a professional drifter!
I have already subscribed but I am not that good at drifting yet
EDIT: Wow. Watching the video five months later now, and what has changed? You inspired me to get a drift setup with forza horizon five and this was the first time me ever to play an actual video game. Thanks Goose!
I like how I don't even have a Sim setup but I'm watching just in case, so in an alternate reality I can have some training.
