- Another electronic music pioneer and inspiration of mine has left us and now resides in synthesizer heaven.
Ryuichi's work with Yellow Magic Orchestra was phenomenal along with his solo projects and film scores.
This is my take on Fire Cracker using my Moog Multimoog, Roland Jupiter 4, Sequential Prophet 5, Moog Grandmother, ARP Odyssey and Yamaha CP 70b. - Hudba
イエローマジックオーケストラYMOの曲演奏 凄いです❗🔵
Luke please finish this cover! It's absolutely perfect and I keep groaning when it doesn't proceed to the next section !
Please do Technopolis and Rydeen!
Love Rydeen! Probably my favourite song of YMO👍
Agreed
This is the best, closest YMO Firecracker cover ever!! Amazing work!!
This is probably one of your best covers, you captured the patches perfectly!
Thank you, I definitely spent a bit more time than usual creating the patches 😊
The yellow magic Orchestra I had the album back in the day. It was on yellow vinyl a great rendition. Well done.
Anyone here remember this tune being in the UK charts? I was 10 at the time and I remember the single had pictures of Space Invaders on the sleeve. (I think it was released as “Theme From The Invaders” in the UK.) Possibly the first and last time a Japanese band achieved success in the UK charts. Legendary.
You paid this genius of a man real credit and more power to you for it. Didn't realise just how much Ryuichi and his music meant to me until he was gone. Fantastic tribute thank you. Not to forget Haruomi and Yukihiro (RIP). Only saw YMO live once in 1980 but I was hooked from that moment on.
I wish I could have saw YMO live. Cherish that memory 😊
@@lukemillionmusic I do. I wish I could play keyboards like you! Here's the gig I went to on CZcams - czcams.com/video/mHQDUqsoO2k/video.htmlsi=E-ZNlA-cRnVkIiNo at Hammersmith Odeon in London. I was 17 in 1980.
Damn man I'm jealous. Would've gone if I was alive then! lol
RIP Ryuichi ❤️
I was only watching Netflix the other day and noticed the anime I was watching was scored and preformed by Sakamoto. It was great, the man was a pioneer. Very fitting what you played Luke and as always executed excellently.
Thank you 🙏 He was a true legend!
Lovely - thank you :) I only discovered YMO in the last year or so, after Teenage Engineering had a cover of Cosmic Surfin' (which I love) in one of their launch videos. Such incredible pioneering work.
Nicely done!
Rest In PWM, Ryuichi Sakamoto
The Man Who Erased His Name approves!
omg that brings back memories, a long time since i heard this one, thanx
TIGHT!!!!!
Great 👍 👍 👍
Hi Luke, awesome! you actually reveal how much different voice/timbre/modulation and shaping go into all the different parts of that track 👏 I would love to listen to a Rydeen cover 😅❤
Nice job Luke❗
subscribed👍
Well Done sir, RIP Sakamoto
Wonderful.
Incredible! Really great work, as always. One of my favorite songs and albums of all time. Would love to see you attempt 1000 Knives... :)
🎧🎶 This song has been on repeat for days! Keep making awesome music! 🤩♥
Wow. Beautiful tribute. Loved it!
Superb - sorry I missed this video when you released it!
I recently found your channel, Luke, and I’m blown away by your version of this YMO classic, and I’ve been loving your Disco and Eighties videos. Thank you so much!
Good! 👍
Brilliantly done
Brilliant, as always.
Man that was awesome thanks. 👌
Salut Luke,
Such a conundrum....for now I don't know what to do with myself!
I am inspired, but, do I; grab a beer, cuddle my Wifey with such "sweet jams", or perhaps, I should head out to the local rollerskating rink and get my boogie on, and then, a nightclub is not entirely out of the question....
That music has that certain something that is greater than a mood, it awakens one, owning a superior power that shows as "far more" when compared to the "somewhat lacking" nature, that dull species of composition mostly given us these days. You know and play good music, enough said! Thank You!
Cheers and CIAO!
Fantastic tribute and attention to details on the patches is amazing 👌🏻
Fantastic job, thanks for posting.
I love this cover. Great work!
Dr Dre - Nuthin' But A "G" Thang we are waiting for your song. You are a great musician, I wish you success
So soothing 😌
Superb…..and a great tribute to Mr Sakamoto!

Brilliant!!!
what a bummer hes gone but what a gift that we had him for so long. i'm still really new to ymo and ryuichi but it doesn't take much to know what a big deal they still are :) great jam!
Oh my
Great cover version. The video ends when it was just warming up!
SICK! Nailed it.
Sounds magic ❤
Amazing.
Wow, you nailed Sakamoto's piano part!
❤
Nice tribute, but I hope you might also cover Rydeen and Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence at some point.
I’d love to hear you recreate some of Solid State Survivor
I was listening to Cosmic Surfin for the first time since 1986 or so and was shocked at amount of jazz funk on display... YMO were such a killer band... great cover btw!
Wow, just found this. One of my most favourite tracks. So accurate. You're a genuius 👌. How do you make it look so easy🤔
Ha! So cool! Can you do Paula theme from The Running Man?
Very nice. How did you do the drums?
I would like to see more ymo pls
Rest in peace, Sakamoto ❤
Fire Cracker by YMO is a cover itself
You should try tackling the synth parts and the ending synth riff from Starship We Built This City. Not many people have accurately tried to play the synth parts from that song, and accurate to the album at that either too. Everyone I see play We Built This City on keyboards basically just plays the notes of the song's lyrics from the song, but not the actual synth parts. Everyone accurate plays all the synth parts of stuff Van Halen's Jump, but oddly not from We Built This City. Strange considering it was of the biggest 80s hits and it was pretty synth heavy too. You'd think more people would have attempted to accurately play the synth parts from that song on youtube.
Sok it to me Sakamoto, do the Tighten Up!
It took two notes I've heard this before✍️👤🛬🛣️🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃👇🕵️☝️ 👂
Now while know 100 I heard before trying to test my inner ears it will come to me I'm not going to rush it when you know what you know don't intervene let it come naturally why it will and than boom me can I know that yea that's it....
Here's my suggestions for Friday Funk Jams:
Shoot Your Shot (Divine)
Touch In The Night (Silent Circle)
Megatron Man (Patrick Cowley)
Even the piano part so close to the original 😎
RIP Sakamoto!
brilliant! Shame its not full length
Your piano work is excellent.
Did you start off on piano or another keyboard instrument?
Thank you. I started with classical piano then discovered synths 😊
@@lukemillionmusic you make your piano teacher proud
Can you please please please, do I cover of a song by The Units from their first albums
Do you ever need a Synthy-sitter for when you are on the road?
Ha, I probably do. Need to keep those oscillators warm 😂
Yo! YMO!
the 'sak'
Sound like funky town but I bet not all of it both the keys are definitely hitting funky t Town
Firecracker was mostly Haorumi Hosono's idea.
Thanks a lot Luke! Again - cool B-Boy melody, from 1980s👍 I remember that famous electro whistle effect, that sounds in different breakdance battles. Like here, on 4:29. czcams.com/video/1R4OGjGnNhc/video.html Oh, the original song was from late 1970s actually- 1978. Well almost 1980s🙂
You play a good man I'm a big y m o fan and kraftwerk fan I just did a remix of firecracker 🧨 when you get a chance come check it out see what you think okay man I enjoyed it have a great 👍
