Eddie Vedder is one of those singers that must be heard live to get the full effect of his power and the way the music and lyrics shake him to his core. And the band as a whole - it's a miracle that they have survived all these years without splitting apart. I saw them several times live in the early 1990's, including being maybe 20 feet from Eddie and Chris Cornell singing Hunger Strike (Temple of the Dog side project) at an unannounced side stage performance during Lollapallooza. Simply incredible!
true! have seen him a few times live. but you have to be lucky. I had a show where he was so drunk that he had no interaction with the crowd, well the thought he did, but no one could understand a word he was saying. But even than the vocals where spot on.
I don't think anyone else could produce such ferocious lament. He mourns this boy as if he were a brother. To think that the closest he ever got to him was a newspaper article. What powerfully expressed empathy!
I was there. Last minute invite from my boss. Barely got there in time and this got some of the last open seats that were being held. To say it was amazing would be the understatement of understatements
i thought that was you.

so lucky!
Eddie was ill w/bronchitis for this MTV Unplugged performance which makes it even more impressive. Loved your Black reaction as well. Keep up the good work.
Wow I didn’t know that. Black is my fav from this unplugged. I really miss this show. It was so cool to see back in the day. I feel all the grunge acts had the best ones…Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Alice In Chains
@@neilp8964 you are correct, but I also really liked Zakk Wylde machine gun man :)

Eddie Vedder live is totally a full body experience since his voice is so iconic. He's also the last Jedi left from the Grunge era.
Also, the entire album "Ten", from Pearl Jam, is a masterpiece. Every song is a 10.
To think we've lost Layne, Chris, Kurt, Scott... So many, we need extra bubble wrap for Eddie and Mike Patton.
Dude...... And he was SICK! lol he was literally ill, and still absolutely nailed every song. Dude was/is inhuman
Nobody ever mentions the fact that he's doing this sitting down, yet is still able to produce such power.
He is sitting down there i said it.
It's easier to sing while sitting and not moving around, you save your breathe lol. So it makes sense
@@mr.ryceguy6854 you might save breath by not moving around, but I don't think it's easier to get the power from it. Why are opera singers always standing?
I've often thought about this as well. Goes to his greatness. 🎉
@bridgethockney2303 good for you young Skywalker 😂🤣
Tiny request. Please react to EVERY single live PJ performance. Ed is a gift from the universe, and you make me laugh. Thanks. 😘
This is a must.
Eddie vedder is the greatest rock star of all time. The way he projects his barratone voice with an organic release of emotion is unparalleled. The doors asked him to induct them into the hall of fame and perform with them on that night. John densmore said they would not perform without him. he has earned the respect , love and graced the stage with The who, bruce springsteen, stevie nicks, glen hansard, tom petty, neil young, coldplay, chris cornell, the rolling stones, R.E.M to name just a few and there are many more and in these moments he delivers earth shattering performances. He covered u2s elevation and One at their kennedy center honors ceremony and left the band speachless. he was asked to induct the Ramones, R.E.M. , neil young and the doors as mentioned earlier into the hall of fame. He has done all of this while climbing and jumping off scaffolds singing porch and gave the greatest unplugged perfomance to boot. If you doubt any of this you are just hating on reality. look it all up on yoitube its right here✌ children
Eddie Vedder is a legend and Pear Jam is one of my fav bands ever
Dave Abbruzzese , one of the grooviest drumemrs ever.
For the flip side of Eddie's voice, the performance of "Oceans" from this same Unplugged is stunning.
He has one of the most powerful voices
Dear lord I love that u did a little research before watching/hearing this!! It's such an important song and I'm so happy u saw this particular performance. That is real emotion from Eddie. In 1991, while thumbing through the newspaper, the article of 15y/o Jeremy Wade Dell's suicide in front of his teacher and 30 classmates in 1991 in the Seattle Times (set in the last page of the newspaper) pissed Eddie off.
He was thumbing through the newspaper, full of political and celebrity b.s., etc and then came across the article about Jeremy shooting himself in front of everyone. It pissed him off that it was on the last page of the paper (as an after-thought/filler) and he wrote this song.
Rebecca still hasn’t recovered from watching Eddie singing Black, and that was a couple of years ago.
Mmmm Eddie
Absolutely stunning, control and sings like he saw the whole thing playbout in front of him. Eddie Vedder, legend and super talented, the whole band smashed this unplugged. A song to warn you THE human condition and what may lay beneath in every, single, one of us. Be kind.
Eddie Vedder is amazing at expressing emotion in all his music.. a truly amazing story teller/singer
That one spot you paused and played back. In the original version he uses profanity but since he’s live and on tv he has to shake his head and not use profanity. It’s absolutely amazing how good he pulls it off when he catches himself just beforehand
Every sngle time i listen to this i get mad goosebumps
Eddie takes you on an emotional journey, if you 'like' or not and you cannot escape from it. A force of nature. Wonderful song, wonderful reaction!
Force of nature, also a wonderful song from this amazing group of musicians.
She's such a character, I love her
It's impossible not to
A Pearl Jam reaction... yes!! You just totally made my day Rebecca!! 😊 And one of my all-time faves too 👍 This song is just sooo incredibly powerful... especially considering the story behind it. The line "Jeremy spoke in class today" gives me goosebumps no matter how many countless times I've heard it. Thank you for the awesome video and reaction hon! 🙏
P.S. Would absolutely love to see your reaction to PJ's "Yellow Ledbetter" (studio version)!
Check out "Porch" from this same Unplugged set.
Watch the whole set
And closing with porch
They Just Smashed it !!
seems like he reached all the way to your soul..and make you smile like only rare one can :)
Great live Eddie is a powerhouse vocal wise
Now that’s a reaction ❤
He's so intense. My god he's beautiful and that energy he's putting into the song is ethereal and passionate. He's just this side of completely letting everything go and yet holds it right at that moment. It's amazing.
Rebecca, you are a little ray of beautiful light. I love your videos. x
I kept thinking this was an old vid of yours (thinking it was the Black reaction) 🙄
What a song and your so right about the emotional side of the song/performance, it makes a huuuge difference. It still has the power punch you in the chest ❤️🔥 I've been a fan from the start and this still caught me off guard at the end... literally had to pause and take a breath.
This whole mtv show could've been a mess as they weren't really looking forward to it.... They SMASHED IT!
Its so rewarding having you posting again. Your reaction to Pearl Jam depictes how many of us feel hearing this performance. Thank you Becca for coming back to us. 😘
Another great reaction to a classic performance. I would LOVE to see you react to Oceans from this set. It's a short, sweeter song but one of my absolute favorites from the 90s.
I have been a long time fan of PJ and Eddie (as well as you, Rebecca) and have had the fortune to see PJ live a couple of times. The first time I saw them was on the Ten tour (with RHCP and Smashing Pumpkins). Not many folks were there when PJ took the stage, but I tell you I became a life long fan after Eddie's first notes. Hearing him on CD was one thing, live he is a whole other animal.
Keep doing what you do Rebecca, I love your reviews and reactions!
Glad you back !!! With your smiling face !!
Lovely and gorgeous Rebecca!! 😘😍♥️
Even Flow is my favorite Pearl Jam song.
Listen to more than the radio then.
You’ve clearly haven’t listened to anything from PJ beyond Ten then. They’ve released 10 more albums, plus a double album of songs that never made it to their albums in the 32 years since Ten was released
Mine too
It feels like forever becca😘 You look well and I need a big spoon so i don't miss a drop.❤
Amazing reaction as always RVA! ❤️ He was literally tripping his balls off during the entire MTV performance and that just some how makes it even more impressive! ❤️
great seetng you again 😊
Arc - Water on the Road - Eddie Vedder - Eddie performs a vocal piece in remembrance of 9 fans that died during a Pearl Jam show at the Roskilde music festival in 2000. Each vocal line represents one of the fans that died. It's a stunning and raw performance that only Eddie could come up with.
You are just scratching the surface of one of the best bands ever. Check out Porch at Pinkpop to see them live and rockin. Check out Betterman 2006 MSG to see how he engages with the crowd. Check out Release at Wrigley Field to see how they connect with their fans. Going to see Pearl Jam is my version of going to church. Love your reactions and I've learned a lot about singing. Thank you.
I thought Betterman MSG was in 2010
If i had a genie wish, id wish to be here
Another insightful reaction to a powerful singer and band. Love all that you do.
Thanks so much
Love the glasses Rebecca...fit! As is Mr Vedder's performance.
Hermosa Rebeca ❤
Me encanta cuando reacciona a las canciones de Pearl Jam.
oh my.... may I PLEASE suggest you go back and watch the official vid. it is potent and was the center of controversy when it came out. also, this song was written when they saw this news story in the back of a newspaper, getting basically no attention. it also reminded Eddie of a kid that he bullied in school, that also brought a gun to school in the class next to him (which verse 2 is about. at least that is what he said way back in the day in an interview... Eddie IS the emotion while singing. He is phenomenal!!!
Rebecca hell yea Pearl jam always love your reaction and analysis.I agree totally about getting into the emotional aspect of the song. I have always sung with feeling and emotion.
Good to see you back here!
Hey, thanks!
Yeah finally I love when you react to rock/metal music so much! keep it up you're great. I'd love to see more videos like that fr and I've already watched all of yours so far
More to come!
Hi Rebecca. Pearl Jam concert ten years ago in West Palm Beach was excellent.
'Porch' from this unplugged show is a fantastic performance
Mind blowing isn’t he ?
Nothing change you been very Gorgeous, I also wish you a good health always. I am from this era… alternative rock from 90’s. Thank you for this reaction. I am a Peral Jam fan💪✌️ rock on🤘
Come on try it and then Eddie brings the roof down with his roar! 🔥
I bought Pearl Jam's 'Ten' album, back in the day and this is a definite stand-out from the album, but fast forward to 2023 and I do feel angry with Pearl Jam for taking 'liberties' with the story of Jeremy Wade-Dell. The song is pretty much a collage of 2 different stories. "Clearly, I remember picking on the boy..." was from Vedder's own past experience of bullying another kid at school and his guilt, and then there was Jeremy's story that the band did not gain any permission to use from the Wade-Dell family. The result of that being Jeremy's parents forever being cast as villains in the song (pretty much), when in actuality, Jeremy was well cared for and looked after despite his psychiatric needs. That being said Vedder's MTV performance is permanently etched in my brain. 😊
Incredible song, and what a performance... never get old _{just like Jeremy Wade Dells and all those kids who never had a chance ─ and the current human history in a making is a perfect example ─ and remained unheard too long sadly... and just like that they are an example that must never get forgotten}!_
Eddie Vedder to me remains one of the best voice in Music history still today: Layne _"Man In The Voice"_ Staley, Chris _"Black Euphoria"_ Cornell, Scott _"The Mountain River"_ Weiland, Eddie _"Rats Master"_ Vedder _{quite impressive the fact the four of them are all from the Grunge golden era}_ and Michael _"The Last Rockstar"_ Hutchence... in the exact order with _"My Dream Brother"_ Jeff Buckley _{whom I couldn't listen no more ever, right after a mourning tribute I attended in his Official Italian Fanclub back in that tragic moment of his and, just because of his death, my life},_ Mike _"The Voice"_ Patton and Freddie _"The Queen"_ Mercury on a whole different level without any particular order and forever untouchable, each for a very distinctive reason.
Got to see them when they opened for VH in the 90's...was amazing.
great follow up after almost 5 years of reacting to pearl jam
I use to teach at the school where this happened.
Eddie Vedder is amazing ❤
I love love love Pearl Jam and Eddie
This one has a very mixed connotation for me. I was a sophomore in high school when this came out, a bit of a weird loner and kinda sheltered from modern music at the time. That, and my name is Jeremy. I had people singing this at me and referencing it constantly to me, and I had zero clue what it was about or even that it existed. I hated the references and comments about it because I was out of the loop and didn’t understand what was going on, so in essence I was being bullied by what is an anti-bullying song. It wasn’t until many years later that I really heard the song and understood what it was about, and it was a bit of a chilling experience. This was, of course, long before the events of columbine so the concept of school shootings and violence hadn’t really entered into the public consciousness, but it struck me that all those kids who I perceived as taunting me were really playing with fire. It’s lucky I’m a generally passive person and had strong family support and love, otherwise Jeremy could very well have been me.
So, yeah. Great song, great performance, but it still frightens me to see the parallels and what could have been.
So good to see you again ! Rebecca you are lovely as always. What a great song. I could listen to you endlessly 💜. Please react to A Perfect Circle "the outsider". Maynards vocals are great as you would expect. Thank you
Best band ever
Rebecca...your more beautiful by the day ❤ oh & the music 🙏
A bit of context, if I ranked all the albums I ever listened to by how many times I listened to them, Ten would be in my top 5. I've heard all sorts of versions of each of its 11 tracks. Jeremy is an odd case, I never heard a version better than the studio one (not the music video version, that one is very different). There is something about the bass tone and the multiple vocal tracks on this song, with headphones on it is a treat. I guess what I'm saying is if anyone has never heard the album version of Jeremy, they're missing out.
And you are so, so right about the drumming. Pearl Jam still made good music after that drummer left... or was kicked out. But Dave had a signature sound. It's a bit of a shame that things ended the way they did. Love you Dave, you're in my HoF.
Imagine being the family and this song comes on the radio. 😳
Please react to more PJ before another few years go by. The music and Ed are a gift. If you want to experience Ed at maximum emotions, check out Come Back from Berlin 2010 but you have to see the speech before the song to get the emotion behind it.
I saw PJ 2x in September..my happy place. They are touring Europe next year. Do yourself a favor and see them live.
o Eddie é o cara!
Dear Lady Rebecca, your reaction was very funny and on the other hand very informative... 🙂 As always!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Rebecca…..if you really like Eddies voice then check out PJ version of The Who - Love Reign O’er Me. The done an excellent live version during The Who rock honours show! I’m 100% sure you’d appreciate it 👍🏻
Pearl Jam Release live at Holland
So ,so good ,nice one
One band I am still yet to see and that guy…. There’s not many people who are completely enveloped by the music and the vocals like that man
Black Unplugged is phenomenal and Jeremy video is the full story!
D'oh which you did awhile back! Will peruse your awesome library!!🎉🎤🎙🎧 🎉 🪅 🌌 🌟 ⭐️ 💫 🌞
Your hair looks great that color
❤❤
We can still be there Rebecca!!❤ He's alive and well and still singing his ❤out!!!
Something new by Eddie Vedder, I can recommend Just breathe at Ohana 2023.
2 years ago, on the Queens of the Stone Age "No one knows" reaction video you did, you mentioned about drumming and one day you'd do it for us....would love to see you rocking out!!!
Outstanding performance.
Ten was the iconic album of my highschool days, and this MTV unplugged session with Pearl Jam was a high water mark of that time period. From innocence to experience...
"I'll ride the wave, where it takes me, I'll hold the pain, release me!"
One of the best vocals any genre or time.
Watch the eye accessing cues... Very interesting... He is internalising the emotions
I wish I could sing as good as you 🎉
You can
You MUST react to the closer of this show: "Porch"... Its nuts!
Eddie is possessed 😂
Hey! I would love to see you react to a-ha - Summer moved on live! at oslo spektrum 2010 If you have not seen it you are in for a treat with the most insane longnote
Eddie is the man
At this point I don't think you can even call Eddie a great grunge singer, just a great Rock singer. His style and emotion are second to none.
You really need to react to this amazing young woman Kirsten Cruz I see red (AGT) She's amazing - she gives me goosebumps from my scalp to my toes.
❤😊
🌹
At the time of this recording Edd was ill and had a chest infection and was feeling crap. It turned out to be Pearl Jams most iconic sets.
Today is December 23, 2023 HAPPY BIRTHDAY EDDIE VEDDER #59 🎂😊🩷🤘✌️
It's never too much for me Rebecca 🤍
Eddie is so captivating, passionate, intense, amazing and beautiful! Plus the band kills it in this unplugged performance.
Awesome react! Bout time to do another Sleep Token vocal react! maybe Rain, Fall for me or Ascensionism. Cheers!
You are amazing Rebecca ❤🎶 Thanks for a great reaction video
Found you, a few years ago with a Pearl Jam reacts 🤗 been a fan of you ever since!
Only a 4 year wait. Not bad.
