Angela and I were classmates at Howard University in The Department of Music in the mid through late 70s. She was unbelievably gifted and could have just as easily have been a successful mezzo-soprano opera singer had she wanted to be. But I'm glad she chose R&B. When we finished school, Stevie Wonder swept her up as a background singer for his tours, and the rest is history. As always, great reaction. Thanks.

You missed an opportunity here. The two songs to do by these guys is "I Love You More", and "I'll Be Good". Slammers. You said Rene correctly. Try Angela doing her hit, "Angel". Phenomenal voice on that lady. Also try Shanice doing "I Love Your Smile". Classic. This is a great cut though. You know, no one has mentioned the incredible duet Alexander O'Neal and Cherrelle doing "Saturday Love" and "Never Knew Love Like This". The songs were written and produced by Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam and have the same sound as their great cuts by Janet Jackson and The SOS Band.

Aside from being one of the sangin'-est sisters ever, Àngela's songwriting and producing skills set her apart from many of her contemporaries. Her resumé includes work with Stevie Wonder, Rufus & Chaka Khan, Janet Jackson, Stephanie Mills (for which she wrote and/or produced two #1's, Sheena Easton, and Ron Isley [Brothers] to name a few.

I went back through some of your older reactions and came across this. Man do you know who this is? probably one of the best duos and definitely one of the best female singers of all time. They made 2 or 3 albums together that were awesome. Then they split up and she had a great solo career. He went on to produce for other artists including Michael Jackson. You need to check out "I'll Be Good", "You Don't Have to Cry", "I Love You More" which was sampled by Biggie with "I Love the Dough".

Solid reaction to a classic track from way back (1985)! There's a video for this song. Rene & Angela (Angela Winbush who you have reacted to- Angel, Hot Summer Love) were a talented duo but due to his violent ways towards her she had to go solo and shine on her own. Their breakup led to lawsuits from both sides, very messy. Some more solid songs from Rene & Angela are: I'll Be Good, Save Your Love For #1, You Don't Have To Cry & I Love You More. You Don't Have To Cry is my favorite song from them.
