Thank you so much for the incredible response to this video! I am so happy I got to share in the excitement surrounding this game, and it's been amazing hearing everyone's stories from growing up with Midnight Club 3 to those who just discovered it.
For those asking, YES! I will be doing Midnight Club: LA too. I was going to start recording it this week, but when I opened up the case, the disk was gone...A new one is on the way. I am so excited to revisit it because LA was MY Midnight Club. The game that really hooked me like nothing else. I can't wait to play it again.

The Atlanta part of the career mode was the hardest in my opinion too.

personally I was always someone that preferred 2. (as you can tell by the DICE pfp.) i grew up on 2 and 3 later playing MCLA. for me its the way the music pushes you to keep going, the way the streets all feel familiar if you played them before but still a cruel mistress if you go with just a little bit too much power. all the little rivals and opponets either flirting with you (Gina and Jewel/Julies for example) or calling you an absolute shitter like DICE it all gave the game a lot of charm and it genuinely made it feel like so much love was put into it. the soundtrack stuck with me so much its def shaped a huge part of my music taste along with 3s. the pulsating techno, the smooth house, the sprinkles of rap in MC2 genuinely made it so unique and made it feel like you were on some random DJs playlist just shuffling through while going 200+mph in a kitted out Supra in purple on a Tokyo highway. the sense of speed in MC2 is unrivaled as well, i can be going 120mph and it feels like im doing 200+ on the dash in a Civic. going back to the characters thing, the whole buildup to the rivals, beating them, then taking their car was so sweet too. especially at the end when you finally defeat Savo after all those damn races (fuck that paris unordered one) and get that clean Saleen S7 to go back and replay the whole campaign on the hardest difficulty using that cheatcode. its def not for everyone and i understand the appeal of MC3 over 2 but for me 2 is the best in the series. its the perfect blend of everything of that era and i still find myself going back to it and playing it for fun. 100% one of the greatest games ever made and i could honestly go on for hours and hours. amazing video btw, made me smile on some points!

I am glad that everybody on the planet universally recognizes this game as good. It's hard to find any criticism of it online, excluding people mad about ricers in 2004 when it was announced.
Something I'd like to mention about the soundtrack is that it wasn't just localized for southern rap. They included punk and dancehall for SoCal for San Diego and techno specifically from Detroit to fit in with these locations. In early stages, the game was meant to have songs locked to each area so it makes sense that they picked them out this way.
Also, personally, I dislike the characters from MC2 so I'm pleased that they're gone. I can't play MC2 without disabling voices and rapidly mashing buttons to skip every cutscene.

Midnight Club II is one of the most difficult arcade racers of all time. The way the streets become increasingly narrow as you progress through the cities (along with increased traffic density) make it challenging in a way that MC3 is not. MC2 was also, I believe, the second online-capable console racing game ever (Auto Modellista being the first) and had a die-hard community where some friendships formed still exist today. The customization and licensed cars of MC3 are awesome, but the gameplay of MC2 will always make it the best of the series for me.

13:47 Spot on with the differences on cars and rivals. None of the MC3 rivals are memorable since the only “personality” is told to you by your mechanic, and seeing a Lexus GS400-like vehicle in MC2 be so strong made me very happy.

Midnight Club 3 was the GOAT. In my opinion, easily the best and most fun arcade racing game of all time, it beats all the NFS games too. Mostly due to how insane the customisation options were, along with the freedom to drive anywhere you want, even during races which no game since has really matched imo.
I even went back to play Midnight Club 2 and LA but they don't scratch that same itch that 3 does. I'm not sure why but 3 felt like magic, and it was possibly the shear immersion that the customisation, map layout and soundtrack that just really made it so good.

I grew up playing this game and up until now I consider it the best racing game overall. I've played all the NFS of that era, Street Racing Syndicate, Street Legal among others but this game for me was the absolute top to the point that I've actually purchased it three times, two on PS2 because being a kid I eventually scratched the first disk and then a third time on PSN Classics.
What I loved about the game was that it had a nice, simple story (although back then I didn't understand english, I enjoyed the cuscenes), great gameplay in terms of handling, amazing city layouts, limitless options in terms of customization and some of the absolute best OST. I remember starting the game for the first time back in around 2006, driving my red Eclipse around San Diego, not knowing what I have to do and seeing that red, green, yellow smoke coming out of the ground and before I knew it, I was in a race getting destroyed.
I also remember the back cover of the game showing the Nissan Skyline tokyo police car, the yellow Mercedes CLS, that shot of the Cadillac El Dorado in the dusk and in the booklet the Pagani Zonda which I remember being mesmerized by how beautiful that car was.
The game had an amazing atmospere, the cities where completely different from each other and although San Diego was my favorite since I got to know the city inside and out, Detroit was the one that stood out the most to me with it's more run down feel and snow. Also around that time, I remember seeing Rockstar promote the next Midnight Club, Los Angeles. I actually remember young me going to a local video game store just to ask if the new Midnight would release for PS2 instead of just the next gen systems and was dissapointed to learn that the guy thought it wouldn't.
I could talk about this game forever but I'll leave it here. I sincerely hope that Rockstar will come back to this franchise in the future with a banger of a game although I do have my doubts. I love Forza Horizon and Need For Speed but I'll always consider Midnight Club to be on a whole different level. THANK YOU for this video and for awakening all these memories. Subbed my friend!

Angel Studios before they became Rockstar San Diego made some of my favorite games. I used to spend hours playing Midtown Madness on pc and Midnight Club 3 was just chef’s kiss. Once again, people like you are a straight testament of just how excellent this game was and is to this day!!! Game is almost 20 years old and is STILL the racing/customization standard game right now!!!!!. Thank you!!! You're nowhere near alone!!! I have this game right now with 2 memory cards, and 6 garages so far with 30 cars in each. This game along with NFS underground 2, Tokyo extreme racer were the apex of the street racing games!!! ( I have all aforementioned games). They don't make em like this no more and is the exact reason I still have my ps2!!! And along with my ps3 . I won't get another game console because of this very reason: Three are no more good street racing games!!!! 1 reason ? NO REPLAY MODE!!!!!!!!. Why put candy paint , custom rims , body kits graphics on my car ,so I can see it from the back the rest of the game??‽ or just a cut sene ?????😤😡

First time viewer here. I never played MC2, but I had a PS2 and got MC3DER and I can tell you for sure that the Tokyo challenge makes things worth it. Zone can be used on sport bikes as well for added maneuverability, and roar can be used on choppers. Tokyo challenge is where you get the first exotic to beat out the city tournament in Detroit in that game as well. If you play remix, you will have to progress through the whole game again. I suggest progressing through Tokyo challenge gradually as you complete San Diego and Atlanta as it will make adjusting to the vehicles easier.

I still remember in MC3 having opponents closing in on me, hitting the Look Back button, and sending a roar backwards to disrupt them. I don't think the game explains that it's a thing, but it's the fondest memory I had, making sure clencher finishes were guaranteed finishes.

Also had reggae / dancehall, you had Drum n bass, you had techno, You had rock and roll.
