The riding lawnmower won't move. Craftsman Lawn Tractor wont go forward or reverse. Riding mower won't go forward or reverse. So we replaced the drive belt to fix the riding lawnmower.
    Other replacement part:
Husqvarna Craftsman 140218 Hydro Ground Drive Replacement Belt: amzn.to/2f5hzQP
    Lawn Tractor Parts: amzn.to/2f6Dnf3
This is a VLOG style demonstration of replacing the drive belt in a Craftsman Lawn Tractor Special Edition YS4500 Model# 917.276600 using Lawn Tractor Ground Drive Belt Part# 140218. The Craftsman lawnmower won't move. The demonstration shows that it is not necessary to remove the engine drive pulley.
Use care when working on this lawn mower. It is best if you remove the cutting deck from the lawn tractor to expose the drive belt. Replacing the belt can be done quickly with two people. If the old belt is still on there you can force it off where the pulleys and the pulley guards meet. On this tractor the pulley guards were a little tight against the pulley so removing the belt required a little muscle. The same applies when reinstalling the belt. Be sure to install the belt according to the diagram on the bottom of the tractor as shown within the video. Consider pushing in the clutch when installing / removing the belt to make it easier.
After the lawn tractor belt is installed give the tractor a test run before installing the cutting deck. So if your Craftsman Lawn mower won't move follow the instructions in this video demonstration to learn how to fix it yourself.

Very helpful. I have a different model Craftsman, but the process is identical as this. However, one suggestion that will save a lot of hassle is when removing the belt from the back end, instead of battling with the fan pulley, simply remove the battery and battery box and you can then work on that end from above and it's much easier. Thanks for the helpful video.

I would be just riding around on the mower too. My son use to have a swagway. We had to send it back because the battery wouldn't charge. Him and my daughter loved it.

+Cooking with Cricket (cricket516) Was the swagway among those that were recalled due to the fire hazard?

No. It was a top name brand. THey sent a new charger, but it just didn't work right. My son finally took it back and got something else. My daughter had bought it for him as a gift.

greatly appreciate the video . was wondering if anyone knew what the Ys stands for in the trim model of the tractor? I have a ys-4500 and for the life of me I cannot find any information of what the Ys stands for. you're the first video or information online that I found at least guns and inkling of what the abbreviation stand for. it being a (special edition) of Craftsman's lineup. and I guess that's why there's not much information because there's not a lot of them out there? IDK. im guessing the y stands for yard , the S stands for sport? but there's nothing really sporty about it LOL anyway if anyone has any idea I'd appreciate it. thanks again

Take the extra minute to remove the bolt from the pulley assy, it will drop down and you wont have to spend all the time prying the belt off and on, I have this model and have changed this belt many times. Also, if the belt is still slipping, while driving the mower, pull back on the clutch/brake pedal with the top of your foot. Once i did this the mower moved fine, no more slippage.

i make the complicated look simple but that comes with a curse....I make the simple complicated and sometimes it makes for a lengthy method as demonstrated here. But in all seriousness thanks for the comment. Making videos allows those like you to chip in and improve our processes. Thanks

@@UDoIt2 I liked that you did not remove the pulley assy to show that it could be done that way. I like to do it the easy way and I felt this was the best way. Thank you.!

These guy, first off if you are replacing a bad belt, just cut the old was off. Next when you get to the engine pulley use the deck pulley to turn ride the belt on.

small sugguestion - title the video using the words "How to..." so something like How to replaces a Craftman lawn tractor drive belt. I say that because I believe that's the way that people will be looking it up and I believe you will be more likely to end in their search results if you word it like that. Just my two cents. I'm not a SEO pro. just pretend to be.

Because many times that is HELPFUL to help figure out what you will need to do to put the new one back on!!!! Cut the old one off and you often miss out finding some tips about how to more easily install the new one. It usually SIMPLE to remove the old belt if you depress the clutch pedal to remove tension from the clutch idler pully, but there are often trick belt guides and different places you have to route the new belt thru, and its very helpful to spot those things while removing the old belt.

  • @BenDover4Mee
    @BenDover4Mee Před 4 lety

you mentioned just checking out the belt diagram to see how to put the new belt on - WHAT IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE????? That's why I CAME HERE, looking for a diagram, but unfortunately my mower is a different model and setup differently. There is NO DIAGRAM in the owner's manual (????????????), and NONE on the underneath of the tractor like you had on yours., ANNOYING!!
