- On October 18th, 2017, after a busy day of promotional interviews in New York City, Billie Eilish met with Vanity Fair to discuss the 15-year-old’s breakthrough success. On October 18th, 2018, after a long day of pre-tour rehearsals, Billie spoke with VF again to answer the exact same questions and look back at a time capsule of her answers from last year. Her Instagram follower count grew from 257K to 6.3 million. She went from playing crowds of 500 fans to playing arenas for more than 40,000. See how Billie’s life changed over the last year.

I know this video isn't about Kpop but your username made me want to make an observation about it. Imagine how sad Kpop idols are, I can't even imagine. At least western artists like billie can express themselves and be raw. She is blatantly sad and she swears and she uses her music to express herself. I'm 16, same age as her here, and honestly I really appreciate everything she's talked about mental illness. like teenage mental illness is a big issue and I feel like nobody talks about it.

Same. I didn't know her 2 weeks ago. I like her music but it's not what I would listen to the most. But I just saw this interview, and it genuinely made me sad. I just want to hug her and... Idk, everything you said sounds true. She was on the verge of crying every time she said a word. Even when she said positive things (in appearance).

thebestvids depression is a hard thing and it cant always be a way out of it. Therapy doesnt always help and it can be a thing through the rest of your life. Just saying this because people can think so lightly of depression when its a serious thing and it shouldnt be thought of as something light and easy to get rid of.

And just wanted to tell everybody who's struggling with depression or anxiety or whatever bro watch this and the 2021 thing, compare these two and her changes and the way she got better and the things she has done through these years...and remind urself whatever u are struggling with now will leave u and one day you will feel better. She's 16, that's one of the most difficult stages of puberty and growing up, and on top of all that she's famous. People are constantly either worshiping her or saying vile, repulsive things about her. I couldn't imagine how much that fucks with someone's emotions before they're even emotionally mature enough to know how to handle it. When I first watched this I got that edgy "im 16 and my life is the hardest" vibe, but if I was in her position at that age I wouldn't be in a very good state of mind either. Hopefully the manipulative, greedy hollywood influences in her life don't absolutely suck the life out of her by the time she's 18.

I don't know if it's the way Vanity Fair made the video, but I actually sense more sadness in the second interview. I feel like she is probably living a very adult life, and even though it may seem that she can handle it, I am not sure that any 16 year old is able to make the choice to live life that way. But she is still a great singer.

I think too many Americans want to stay in denial about the music industry. It should be obvious by now how poisonous it is and this vid is just another eye opener. we can see with our very eyes how much being in the industry has changed her. i came across this video on facebook in 2018 and it made me a fan of hers. i didn't even know who she was and what she does. because of her, i learned to appreciate the darkness of life and realize that sadness don't always require a reason. sometimes, you just need to allow yourself to feel what you're feeling.
