I think it's about being in love with someone like a best friend or something and how you feel when they tell you they're in love with someone else and you pretend to be happy about it just to make them happy.
Sometimes, when someone asks how I'm doing, I literally want to hold my iPod up and play whatever song suits my mood. What makes true artists so talented, is that they can articulate what the rest of us are confused about! Thank God for true music.

I think it's about her best friend being love. Her friend is so beautiful and happy, her life is great and she tries to be happy for her friend but its hard because she feels alone
I think this song is about a girl, she likes this boy. But the boy is in love with someone else. So he tells the girl 'I'm in love!' and she's sad on the inside, but she doesn't want him to be sad because of it, so she says she's happy for him. She's sad and watches from the sidelines, and keeps saying she's happy for him, when she's really not. She feels like there's nothing she can do, and she feels powerless and depressed... That's what I think at least...
I think its about having a crush that is a friend that fell in love.
I hope Guy Sigsworth and Imogen Heap both swallow their pride and get back together and create some of the most beautiful pop music ever created again. The world NEEDS it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing about trying to interpret this song is that it can mean different things to different people. I bet the writer did have a situation in mind when they wrote it, yes. And maybe it was different from what everyone else is thinking, or maybe someone in the comments has the right answer. However, I still feel like I can relate to it personally because it describes how I feel right now, and that's how I interpret it. Is there really a right way to interpret music?

To me this song is about someone who loves someone who is in love with someone else, kinda like Jim/Pam the first 3 seasons. Thats why she says "Why is this happening without me?"

idk when i listen to this song i imagine a girl who really likes someone but they don't really see her, the guy knows her, but he sees her as that person you say hi to in the hallway if you feel like it. she sees him go out with other girls, but she can't stop liking him and she feels so powerless and worthless, as if compared to him she's just faded in the background. but she's trying to fake a smile and be happy for him. there is probably a way deeper meaning though xD~

That's a good take on it... personally I think it's about being in love with someone despite NEVER being able to actually be with them.... and just being happy that they're happy.
It's an AWFUL feeling, but sometimes it's all that keeps you going.

@camichan19 At first I had my own meaning for this song but you know know YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!! he's in love with her but her not so much. "im adoring you, its all good' that line right there explains it this most. She has love for him but just not in love. Ive felt like this before. I felt awful because the guy really loved me but i just wasnt on that level

Just type in her username in the search of deviantart and click on her gallery, then one of the folders on the left will be "Elemental"
I think its sorta about a guy who's friends with this girl but the girl likes the guy and the guy is like "I'm in love!" and its with some other girl. :( Maybe not though.
