John Gibbons is a registered Osteopath, Lecturer and Author and is demonstrating how to manipulate with a HVT / Grade 5 technique to the cervical spine. Some of these techniques can be taught but only to skilled therapists and manipulations plus more is taught on the Spinal course at the University of Oxford.
The Vital Cervical Spine Online Masterclass and is a comprehensive, must-have roadmap from firstly understanding all of the related functional anatomy, through to assessing and subsequently treating the region of the cervical spine. The course text is enriched with anatomical drawings throughout, with detailed explanations which accompany the lessons. The literature is complimented by the associated videos which further explain and expand upon topics such as neurological testing using the patella hammer, common neuropathies, pathologies, and differential diagnoses for pain arising to the cervical spine. It is an indispensable resource for physical therapists and bodyworkers.
Alongside real-life case studies and guidelines for hands-on work with clients and patients, The Vital Cervical Spine Online Masterclass demystifies and succinctly presents everything you need to know to be confident and competent in this area; from how to diagnose specific nerve conditions as a result of disc pathology to understanding how to differentiate motion from C1 & C2 (AA Joint) as compared to the rest of the cervical spine.
The Vital Cervical Spine Masterclass will enable you to:
- Assess the cervical spine nervous system using a patella (reflex) hammer, myotome (muscle) testing and dermatome (sensory) testing
- Determine whether pain in the shoulder, arm or hand is in fact a referral pattern originating from the cervical spine
- Utilise active and passive range of motion tests to determine if the pathology is a muscular or a joint issue
- Decide at what level a cervical disc may have herniated
- Know what to do with the findings of your neurological assessment and the circumstances under which to refer patients for more specialist care

You're welcome
Beautiful up.
Thanks for the comments - regards JG
can you feel the articular pillar and transverse process to identify or is there too much muscle in the way?
it would be great if you could do a video with cervical spine on how we identify the anatomy in supine where the landmarks are, i know you have did some but it would be great to identify articular pillar/transverse and where it is in relation too etc
I can feel the difference between the articular process and TPs - I have a video on anatomy of cervical spine - regards JG
Thanks
No problem
Sir most of the therapists would follow ur techniques in india
Thats great to know - regards JG
John you are too good. Plz ad disclaimer. However, in India barbars, physiotherapists, massage therapists, hijama therapists, acupressurist are using your videos and opening clinics everywhere as fake Chiropractic doctors without anatomy, biomechanics, osteopathy or chiropractic qualifications. Its very dangerous trend and 3 are already dead in Delhi, Bihar, WB and many are paralyzed and are in coma. It has happened even by physiotherapists who are not qualified to do spine manipulations. Now health ministry is bringing law to jail those who are practicing without chiro or osteopathy degrees.

Also I have seated neck cervical
See an Osteopath local to you as sure they can help, regards JG
Doesn't manipulating one's neck heightened the risk of a stroke?
Doc, your shoes are so harmful to the feet and you should know that. Get some barefoot shoes
My shoes are fine thanks, regards JG
I don't believe there is any decent evidence to support the claims that barefoot shoes are better for your feet than a regular pair of well fitting shoes.
Or is he wearing stilettos?
