Hi...I'm here following your comment on Artisan's vid. Nice work Buddy, the Fogstar battery is insanely good value for money considering what's on offer from the "white goods" companies out there. I think if people are prepared to be a bit hands on then it's a no brainer. My setup for 14.5kwh with the JK Inverter BMS from Fogstar was £1600 all in....Saved a fair bit on buying the cells from China, Grade A Eve 280ah at $70 each. Inverter is a Sunsynk 3.6 ECCO from Bimble Solar ( another great company) .Super happy with it so far.

Is anyone considering doing a battery only system without solar to store cheap night electricity and use in the day e.g. with Octopus Go nighttime is 7.5p/kw…. Usually price of the battery made this not worth it ….. but with the fogstar that could now be resolved? Would love to see a battery only install example

@@AdrianMcDaid that's great, thought it did. I'm about to order one as part of my new solar setup.
I know it says max discharge of 200A but what's the highest you've been able to draw/charge it to in kW(still not 100% on how to calculate it from amps)? I'm having an 8.8kW Sunsynk hybrid inverter so don't think I'll be limited that side and guessing the battery would top out at maybe 5-6kW?

Hi, thanks for the review and showing us your setup.
What is the usable capacity of the battery?
Are you going down to 20% or all the way to zero?
I spoke to Fogstar and they say the BMS is setup to only charge to 85%. What I don't know is if 85% is 15.5kwh, or if it's 85% of that figure so roughly 13.2kwh.

Great video, very straight forward and down to earth. I bought the identical battery and can confirm its a very heavy battery, the lorry driver just left it on the road outside my house, no help at all despite me having a "thalidomide" condition. That aside, I am interested to know which model of Solis inverter you have, and who you got to install it. I've been getting silly quotes for solar battery installs where they want to charge £6,500 with their equipment costing £3,000 - meaning they are charging £3,000 - £ 3,500 for the installation - which can take less than a day - license to print money comes to mind - as does "Rip off Britain".
The battery itself is fantastic value for money which will ultamately drive down prices of other batteries.
Would you still go for your inverter with time as insight :-) once again, great video

Hello! Thank you for your question/comment. I’m still very pleased with the battery. I would definitely choose the same inverter, which you can find at Solar Trade Sales. However, if I were to do it again, I might opt for a higher-capacity inverter to import power more quickly at night and enhance power output when needed. When I had my system installed after the first lockdown, I received several quotes. Interestingly, one company wanted 50% more than another for the exact same setup. At that time, I was using Plyontech batteries. It’s essential to shop around! I’m based in Northern Ireland, and I chose www.treenergy.co.uk/ for my installation. The battery installation itself is straightforward; just have installer leave it for a future "update" So you dont have any solar system setup at the moment ?

@@AdrianMcDaid Yes I have a solar setup, installed before the origin FIT payments were introduced, so they are quite old by todays standard (10 panels x 180 watts each) I originally got £950 per year on the original FIT tarriffs. Thank you for your advice if you were to do to do it again. I think I'd go for a bigger inverter as well, I might even go for 2nd battery lol I put a query on check a trade, they didn't have a catagory for solar battery, just EV installation . I did a search for MCS engineers in and around my area - that seems to be getting more traction.

really depends on your inverter/charge controler as with some a single panel will produce power but not very much of it, inverters have a wide range for the input voltage on the mppt side. Personally I have a solis s5-eh1p6k-l which has an input voltage range of 90-520v DC with a max of 15A per string and it can take two strings. I have one string of 9 JA solar 545W panels with a max of 49.75v and 13.86A per panel and a second string of 12x 12 year old 300W panels.
