      Kimberly Sparrow ask as soon as you feel uncomfortable pain. Sometimes they take about 45 minutes to work I’ve had two babies 😁 also, it might take the anesthesiologist some time to get to you. You don’t want to wait until you’re in too much pain. Generally they let you when you’re about 4 cm. I hope this helps hun have a safe delivery!

The pain was intense and my 8lb son tore me up!😂😬 My left side RN was awesome through the screaming tho. I ended up letting my knees fall outward and my son came right out. 2 months later I got a refund check because an OB wasn’t in the room when my son was born.

While all along, a few rooms further, someone was always watching and keeping an eye on me and my baby. As she was on her way out to leave for the night (about 15 mins later) she passed our room and noticed I had just started pushing (finally!).. you know that nurse came right in, coat on and pocketbook in hand and cheered me on until the baby was born (luckily it was only a few pushes and 10 mins later).
    what an angel! i will always remember that!

Nothing made us more upset than having to leave after you’ve spent 12 long, hard hours with a woman and you don’t get to see the baby-the end result! Lol-plus, of course, we all want to get to hold our babies that we helped come into the world!

      Aww I had a traumatizing labor and delivery and I had a nurse her name was angel. She was the only nurse that was nice to me actually and she got off shift and she waited 2 hours til my emergency c section was done and she was the only one who came to see me in recovery and I just about bawled lol. I WAS SO ALONE! and in the recovery room my husband had to be with our daughter in nicu and when I saw her as she came and squeezed my hand and she apologized for how my labor and delivery went and how traumatizing it was I just looked at her and was like you have no idea I couldn’t have done this without your support so thank you. I never saw her again and I’m praying I see her this time around 4 years Later but we will see. I’m going for a scheduled c section this time so I don’t know how many nurses I’ll have but I hope I can see angel!

    I wish you could be my nurse, you're just AMAZING!😢
    I had a horrifying experience when I was 15 weeks pregnant, woke up in a pool of blood and when I got to the hospital I was checked and I wasn't even warned that she would stick her finger inside me and she did it so roughly.
    After she checked me she just said "You had a miscarriage" with no emotion whatsoever and walked away. I was in tears and couldn't believe that someone could be so cold. I didn't want to accept that my baby was gone and so I sat up and put my hand on my belly and pleaded with God to please fix whatever went wrong. I was admitted and kept praying to God to save my baby. The bleeding stopped and only later that night the gynacologist was available and did an ultrasound and there my baby was sucking his thumb looking so perfect and I cried with relieve that he was okay 😢💙
    I am so grateful that I am now 31 weeks pregnant and will meet my little one very soon. I just pray that God assigns caring and lovely nurses to help me deliver my baby.💙

    • @warriormaiden9829
      @warriormaiden9829 Před 2 lety +1

      @@holleyb1856 Hats and socks/mittens are your best friend here. Babies lose a lot of heat through the top of their head, and the toes are small. Keep those warm, and always have an extra balnket on hand. I keep a spare in the carseat AND in the car. The car one is much larger than a baby blanket, but it's thick. (That one is mainly for whoever gets cold in the car, or if the car has a problem and we're stuck on the side of the road, but it makes an excellent extra layer over a carseat.) Keep 2 spares of hat/mittens/socks in the diaper bag. Better to be over prepared than under. :)

    • @warriormaiden9829
      @warriormaiden9829 Před 2 lety +3

      For all of you wonderful people here that are expecting children, I have a few tips for you! :)
      1: have your clean diaper prepped and a wipe pulled out before opening up the dirty one. It makes changing much faster, and reduces the opportunity for accidents/'fountains'.
      2: Doggie clean up bags are much cheaper. Ross usually has packs of 16 rolls for $5-ish. Keep a roll or two in your diaper bag/changing pad, and toss the dirty diaper in one whenever you change your kid while out and about. The janitors for the place will thank you.
      3: Keep at least 2 outfits in your diaper bag and a spare blanket in the carseat. Accidents happen, temperatures fluctuate. Better to be prepared than have a cold baby. There have been times we have gone through three outfits (the one he was wearing AND both spares), and had that back-up blanket to help keep him warm while we've been out and about.
      4: cloth diapers make fantastic burp rags! They are designed to be absorbent, so they'll keep stuff from soaking through or rolling off. I've had several people gift me nice burp rags from the store; the rags don't do squat. Nothing worse than being at a store or restaurant burping your baby, and having the entirety of the urp roll right off that cloth and down your back. Save yourself some trouble (and lots of laundry) and get some cloth diapers. They may not be cute, but that's what ribbon/edging/crochet and small appliqué are for. (And personally, I prefer function over aesthetic.)
      5: if you don't want stains on stuff, Scotch Guard is your best friend. Spray it, let it dry, and you're good for a couple months. Babies are messy. There's no getting around it. If you want those cute white/pastel outfits to stay the same color, find some Scotch Guard. I use the one for upholstery. Better too much protection than not enough.
      6: If you want to nurse, but haven't produced enough in the past/are worried you won't produce enough, snag a bottle of fenugreek. It ups milk production, and if you don't wind up using it, you can pass it on to someone else. If you are wanting to bottle feed, that's totally fine. I will say please nurse for at least the first 3 days. There's a ton of very important stuff in that first milk that will give your baby a much needed boost. After that, bottle feed to your heart's content. A large marble in the bottle will help break up any clumps of formula, and when the bottle is held at the right angle it won't plug up the nipple (it winds up sitting in the bottom of the neck of the bottle, out of the way).
      And last, 7: get a binky keeper. It's a tag or small stuffed animal that attaches to your binky. It makes finding that binky much easier when your baby is in the carseat, or it's the middle of the night and you don't want to turn on the light.
      Hope this helps, and good luck! If you want any other tips, all you need to do is ask! :)

I say this because the trip home from the hospital is something I've never actually got over and made me loose serious respect and trust in his dependability (again this could just be me. I like to know things are covered and taken care of especially when I ask a person to their face if they completed said task) Don't make her set the new baby in the front seat so she can help you fight with the car seat and move crap around in the car...also cleaning person for a few times a month if it works in the budget.

Having had 5 babies I've dealt with a lot of nurses, and I'd have to say that the nurses in l&d have always been the kindest, sweetest, calmest people I've meet, especially under the intense pressure of making sure everything goes smoothly and I don't think you guys get enough credit!

      Tyler Steele Lol 😂 Not laughing at you, but with you! I used to tell my pts. if you feel like you have to go, just go! Don’t worry about it! It’s perfectly natural & we actually usually expect it! My nurse manager in L&D got pregnant with TWINS while I worked there. She gave herself two Fleets enemas before she came to the hospital! 1. Enemas stimulate labor (I don’t know if they still do it, but it wasn’t uncommon to have to give the big enemas-“SSE HHH”-to stimulate labor if someone was moving slowly/if labor had stopped.), & 2. They clean you out so that you don’t have the pooping problem. Although it’s an option, ALWAYS confirm it’s safe/ok with your OB or midwife for you and your baby before you do it! And if you don’t want to do something like that, DON’T! It’s not required, it’s just for your comfort. We go into EVERY labor expecting women to pant, scream, grab us hard (please, watch the nails!!! 😬), curse, vomit during transition, poop, sweat like crazy, & pee!!! Any/all of the above are NORMAL & don’t bother or offend any of us! Good luck to all, & happy laboring!

    I still remember my labor nurses. I remember them, how good they were, their names, and I even saw my first labor nurse when I went back for my second delivery. She was doing triage and checked me to make sure I was in labor. I don't remember the names of any other nurse from either labor, but I do remember well my labor nurses. Thank you for all you do for your patients.

    I apologized for pooping 🤣🤣 I felt bad. It stunk. But the nurses were amazing, they are so underrated. The nurses literally did everything bedsides break my water, and cut the cord and yell it’s a girl. The nurse was there the entire time I pushed until she was about to come out & the ob switched real quickly with the nurse. Recovery was awesome because of them. I gotta a lot of love for nurses!! ❤️
