Story of my ride - Cycling in Sydney: to Cape Solander via the new Airport bike path (construction)

- Set off. No idea where I was going. Ended up at Cape Solander.
Along the way, rode along the new Sydney airport bike path, which is still a work in progress.
Saw all sorts of things from the seat of my bike: an A380 parked up. Community gardens. Dolphins. A new location (for me). Lovely trees. And plenty of scenery.
Oh there were heaps of things that came to mind while riding my bike, so that's what I talked about - #CyclingInSydney - while being #TouristInMyTown.
Topics raised:
• Dark clothing. Apologies for wearing black.
• New bike path around Sydney airport...
• Art. Concrete. And Bitumen. All in one sentence.
• Traffic.
• Cycling.
• Traffic.
• Joy of riding...
• Traffic.
Etc.
This is the story of my ride from Saturday morning, 18 June 2022.

Gun. The.... gun.
You are my hero.
Up there with Nate Diaz
I don’t mind the Cooks River cycleway as long as it’s early. The Brighton Le Sands one next to Grand Parade a definite no! Slippy bricks and sand as well as some pretty dodgy runs through car parks.
as you're an authority on most things cycling, why don't' you do a post ride blog of the tour each day? I think your prospective would be refreshing.
Nice one Rob. Enjoyed the video!!
Really loved that one Rob! Tempe Reserve put a smile on my face. I literally grew up there during my BMX days. The path over the highway takes you past the Velodrome, along Cooks River & eventually out to Olympic Park and beyond…
I also love the ride along Botany Bay down to Kurnell too.
Hi Rob. Kool video again, the aim of your ride is the same as everyone is to keep safe, if you had a preference to ride on a road or a shared cycle path which would you take. .... assuming it is early morning with not much traffic on the road or cycle path.
Matt, thanks for the note.
Road over shared path, any time...! But, to be clear, a road on which those using it abide by the rules that are put in place to ensure that it's a functional piece of shared space.
Alas, there's always going to be someone who believes that they are beyond the law... and that's often what makes the road a less-than-ideal place for cyclist.
