A brilliant bit of serendipity is that there is a mythical creature here in the US called the Thunderbird that is viewed by many of our Native cultures as a spirit of power and strength. This includes the Ojibwe, who’s culture Jazza based his new space bears on. It might have been what GW based the name off of, but I haven’t been able to find any origins for the name. So I’d like to think that it was just a fine example of synchronicity.
the amount of care they've taken into truly representing a culture without it being offensive or rude and actually learned the meanings of everything really just warms my heart. Space Bears are really becoming this big labor of love and it's awesome, can't wait to see more of this!

Dave, just a general 3D modeling tip, when inserting edges, you want to actually insert edge loops the go all the way around the model. For example, at 2:06 you have a large N-Gon, which is a polygon with more than 4 vertices and edges. In that large thick rectangle, it actually has way more than 4 sides, because each point that it shares with those little rectangles makes a new edge. This probably won't matter in a stationary model, but if you wanted to make battle damaged version, the geometry wouldn't deform correctly.

Blenders fill tool is amazing, obviously if you're doing something complex you're not gonna get the best topology but if you're after something quick and dirty, an autofill and then converting tris to quads often does the job for me

These space bear videos have been such a massive inspiration for my own chapter!
I know right? The Space Bears are one of my favourite chapters in terms of their aesthetic alone, alongside some other custom chapters, like the Soul Haunters. Though it's the enthusiasm and love that goes into the Primursa Marines that really makes these custom chapter videos stand out.

Y’all should definitely make a Space Bear version of the Thunderwolf cavalry or Wolf lord on a Thunderwolf. But of course instead of Thunderwolves they would be Thunderbears and would use the Thunderwolf stats

@@queencyrys6309 OR we could even homebrew a new Primarch! It would fit in the lore: There ARE two missing Primarchs we don't even know about. And these Marines are much more Russian than Norse, so they'd be different enough to warrant their own Primarch. Yes, Russ would definitely serve as a baseline, but think about the possibilities!

I love your Space Bear videos and think it's great to see your army expanding. Much inspiration gained for my Tempest Arcturus, will definitely be buying those files to bulk out my Armoured Company, alongside my Bear Cavalry which is a definite MUST for the Astra Primursa!

I have no clue if the travel and scheduling would ever work out, but I think y'all and this custom chapter would be an amazing guest on the 40K in 40 Minutes series with Play on Tabletop channel. They have done showcases of custom conversions of guests in the past and I think your stuff would be an amazing fit.

I'm really glad to see the 3d modeling process and how to make custom bits! I know it probably won't appeal to the majority of viewers but I'd love to see more of this type of stuff.
I would love to see the new plastic Leviathan Dreadnought converted up as it feels very in line with the look that you're all going for.
And this is why I really want to get a 3d printer, too bad I don't have the space to set one up properly.

Dave, if you want to fill faces, just select one of the edges and press F, also works when its only 3 edges, you can even spam it if you want to fill a whole line

very cool....I was just modelling in Blender last night. If I could suggest looking up some keyboard shortcuts for Blender which makes modelling so so much easier and faster.
I could see you used knife tool a bit and you used Array modifier (loved what you did with the Curve modifier/Array modifier combination.)
There's also an Edge Slide option, which slides an Edge in Edge Mode along the Face it's on to help line things up and Ctrl+R gives you the Loop Cut tool to help add more faces and cuts to the mesh.
But anyway, loved this build and really cool use of the printed stuff you added to the tank.

Currently using some of the marine bits for my custom Hawaiian inspired chapter. It still requires some conversion, but it's great starting pieces. Especially the heads!
Wow, that looked really great. Those small changes really improved the look of the vehicle.
My largest problem is cleaning up the insides. I can create vehicles and custom icons for the army but it doesn't mean they are printable, unfortunately.

I've been using Blender to make Kurnoth weapons for my Sylvaneth armies. It's so freeing being able to kitbash digitally, especially with tiny inlaid designs like the trim, isn't it?

I love Repulsor tanks but really anything that can jump up is pretty sick love my deathcompany units in deep strike.

Maybe a former female Inquisitor, which was transformed into a Daemon Price and her past was connected to the Space Bears; former friend to the chapter master or advisor.
This is super cool, but I will note a high pitched whine behind Dave's voiceover during the first like 1/4 of the video and the outro. I'd love to watch Dave go through the modeling process more in depth.

I think the Native American design elements are cool, but I feel like they clash with the Viking aesthetics. I think a decision should be made for one or the other
the man, the myth-
Exactly, the overall feeling that this conveys to me is overwhelmingly Nordic, or Viking. I personally think that would best represent the culture of the chapter. The bear is very iconic in the hisrory, and mythology of the Nordic cultures. Not to mention, it is a very defining aspect of Nordic/Viking warrior Id. The bear is definitively representative of the Berserker warriors of history and myth alike. Not that my opinion matters, but, I really think that the sons of Russ REALLLY need to know that they aren't the only genetic remnants of the glorious warrior cultures of Old Terran Nordic peoples among the many worlds under the gaze and protection of The Master of Mankind! Besides, it'd be really interesting to see how the Space Wolves respond when crossing paths with what would realistically be their much larger, and surlier cousins in the
GrimDark? Might make make for a rip roarin' butt sniff

Hi Dave, as I see some 3D Modeling Tips popping up in the comments, and some of the advice given is quite situational. I would like to recommend to you the Hardsurface modeling course by Gleb Alexandrov as well as his Video about N-Gons. In addition you should check out Zacharias Reinhard Channel where he gives some really great blender modeling tips.
I myself have a background in games and 3d animation and think those resources will help you to become way faster to your desired result.
Would you guys be willing to do a side series teaching how to use blender for printable 3D objects?
