You're welcome
Naw i wanna hear this asshat unnecessarily show off how many foreign language words he knows
I feel like the information about cooling the bottle could be important?
Am 7 whole years late
🍾🍷but thank u 🙏
I need this upper on the comment section
You hate foreplay. 🙃
Don't know if you noticed but they used two bottles, it seems the first cut didn't goes as well as they wanted so they did it on a second bottle
I was thinking the same thing.
@Kitten Lyric yep I thought the same. The first actually was better, because nothing was spilt
The first shown was better, but the second shown on the video must’ve been his original first failed attempt, the cut wasn’t great at all and there was spillage
@Kitten Lyric
Actually, when the OP said "first cut" he wasn't talking about the bottle cut, but the film cut.
Both are good though
This video helped. I perfectly cut 4 bottles after watching this (a few cheap ones to test out and one Bollinger)
I happen to have a saber lying around my house...and it is almost New Year's Eve!

love this energy
The trick is to hit the bottle at break neck speed.
I too love a bit of glass shards in my champagne
The pressure will force any shards out of the bottle
@@edeag3 you cannot guarantee it
@@manifestoh If you want to be 100% sure, just pour the wine trough a strainer to catch any shards there might be :)
@@kalorikalmo aint nobody got time for that xd
@@manifestoh lmao then you don't have time to do a bottle trick
Ty. I lost 2 fingers, one ear and my ball
It's why you start with more than one
Do you still have the other ball?
Amazing surround sound effect with the music.
Just saw a comment about this, so thought I'd give a PSA to anyone watching this video. Under no circumstances, unless you're an expert or experienced in sabrage, should you ever attempt to sabre prosecco or non-traditional method sparkling. Your chances of the bottle exploding are far greater than champagne, cava, or other traditional method sparkling, due to the secondary fermentation (that gives bubble) occurring in a tank before bottling instead of occurring within the bottle
True. But just saying to be able to know what you’re doing you have to fail at it first… so.
@@1PhantomT the risk is way too high to start with prosecco. If you fail, the bottle could explode and you could end up with lacerations. If someone has to practice I'd recommend starting with a very well-chilled bottle of traditional method sparkling for the aforementioned reasons. Even a super cheap bottle of cava would be far safer until you get the feel. After dozens of successes with traditional method, then could someone move on to something like prosecco, but it's still highly dangerous. Ideally nobody should try sabreing without the direct supervision of a professional
Noted. I just watched this after sabering my first bottle of Prosecco last night. Mine went well. But now that you mention it yes, very dangerous.

I think I might do this for Nevada’s admission day. (October 31, 2021)
Great job guys!
Nothing quite like chard of broken glass in my champagne
Yes! This right here! 👆 I'm also very excited that glass, indeed, floats in liquids instead of sinking to the bottom 😁😅
Pressure blows it outward; however, cavalry officers in the Napoleonic wars were probably not worried about glass before charging into battle.
Yea sounds dodgy to me
@@wynfrithnichtwo8423 So they say…..

Vou tentar fazer!!!Uhuuuu 🇧🇷
This guy's good, but there is a critical misstep here. You should never loosen the cage under any circumstances unless you have a secure grip on the top of the cork at all times. Mr. Lombardo was seriously jeopardizing his safety when he stuck his face over the loosened cage--that cork can pop on the first twist. I've seen it happen plenty of times and it IS super sketchy. It's still possible to saber the bottle without loosening the cage at all--the trick is to make the cutting motion twice, stopping when the blade hits the cage, before a final third motion with a follow-through.
This is just a friendly PSA. Happy sabering!
I work as a bartender , decided to put waterloo Collins and aperol spritz on the menu ,so i was opening several prossecos a week ,and i undertand your concearn.

Oh cool, another how-to video I have no intent on using anytime soon. Let’s watch!
I went out of my way to find a video on how to do this. I don’t even drink
It is a pressurized explosion people...you won't ingest glass. There is a reason why this is still an art.

OK! Party time! Now we need to drink the entire bottle! That's OK!!
You generally want to use a knife with a spine of 90 degrees rather than a smooth top or curved spine. Makes no sense to use the actual edge. The back of the knife goes on the seam and while maintaining constant contact, strike the seam.
I’ve seen so many videos of people messing this up and now I know why!!
Ill upload one myself "how to open a champagne with a hammer"...

How did I end up here?

I use my cellphone, works like a charm and impressess everyone :)
I love how she says how it's so exciting but she isn't excited at all. Damn, live a little.
No chance of ingesting glass? However, super cool!
hahaha, I thought the same here, it does not look safe at all..
not really if you use a chapagne. That was part of the point around the pressure, it will also make sure that glass doesn't fall inside the bottle.
yeah it is true, everything around the pressure point would go out fast
No. When done correctly the pressure will just shoot everything out and the cut should be precise and wont leave small pieces. Just dont aim at your loved ones when doing it!
Prosecco works perfectly to saber. It's just as champagne. Prosecco is manufactured the same way as champagne but with more "hightech" facilities and machines. They use the same bottles and the pressure inside is pretty much the same. I ALWAYS sabrage my Prosecco, no problem, no glass, just exactly like my Champagne bottles pop.
Nope you're recommending something quite dangerous and are completely incorrect about the production method of prosecco. It's far more safe to sabre champagne and other traditional method sparkling wines due to the fact that the second fermentation (that creates the bubble) happens inside the bottle resulting in more pressure. Prosecco's secondary fermentation happens inside a pressurized tank and it is then transfered into bottles, resulting in some pressure loss along the way. You can most definitely sabre prosecco but it's much more dangerous than traditional method (remember that if it goes wrong a bottle can explode and cause injury), so unless someone is an expert or experienced in sabreage, I'd never recommend someone try to sabre any tank method sparkling

Congratulations on not spraying the champagne all over the place like i saw in other videos on this technique.
Mans a low key G
Is there any way of doing this without destroying the bottle?
have a very good sabring arm....
Yes, take the cage off, then just hit the cork. Your aim has to be very good but it is possible.
isnt destroying the bottle the point?
this works on glass soda bottles and beer too lol
That shit scared the fuck out of me :D
It’s just opening wine with extra steps
No no shards ! The the champagne is under presure ...
so its okay to drink it after? i wont get hurt? 🙈
Why do that if can literally just twist the cork to open it up. 🤦
The French had...extravagant ways of celebrating.
It’s because they used to saber the champagne with their swords while riding on horses
to look cool
is it okay to drink it after? i mean its broken glass
You don't actually have to remove the cage, I just did it without removing it.
Spill that all over? To do it over the sink is cheesy. I can’t think of a time I’ll be opening champagne outdoor
Wouldn't glass fragments end up in the bottle and eventually the intestines????
when pouring the wine, only the smaller shards would get into the wine glass, and youd most likely be able to see the shards as the glass will most likely be dark green unlike the wine and therefor contrast.
Umm no??? It's a clean break, there would be no glass shard
@@kaenryuuart543 I don't think so. To prove it, would you put your lips on the cut bottle and drink from it? I think one would be worried about small fragments
did this with my bottle of sparkling grape juice and a machete for new years
He did two different bottels in the video, so why do they show us only one as the result?
Because the first one was a wide shot, the second was a close up. Did you expect them to have a multi-camera set up for their not even 3 min youtube video?

Sabering a champagne bottle can be very dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. I knew a server who had to spend a night in the ER after the bottle exploded in his hand- irresponsible of this channel that there was no warning or disclaimer in this video

He definitely screwed up a couple times I bet. Look at the first shot and then the close up. Those were 2 different shots.
Or you can just pull the cork out have no risk of cutting yourself, making a mess, and having a sharp jagged bottle to pour from. If I'm buying a bottle of real champagne, I'm not wasting a drop playing with knives.
or learn to have a little fun.
@@Westbird1 The real fun begins once you and some friends reach the bottom of a couple bottles first. Then you can start making bad decisions like playing with knives.

I thought the whole point was to show a way to do it without brekaing the neck... Don't drink out of a bottle with a broken neck. it's ruined. there are micro glass pieces in the drink, whether you can see it or not..
You sure bout that? I'd like a cited and peer-reviewed source for this claim.
Unfortunately not done correctly, ONLY Champagne should be used. I was taught to do this in France where it is done properly!
I keep seeing fail videos of people destroying entire bottles trying this technique. This video is dated 2012, which explains it. This video has led to massive alcohol abuse, many bottles of good wine all of the floor mixed with little bits of glass.

Stupidest thing I've ever seen. Has to make sure he doesn't accidentally let the cork slip out in preparation to open the bottle....Yeah that makes sense.
recaging is done for banquets its not as theatrical to have the host unwrapping and uncaging the bottle infront of all his eaget guests but simmarly you dont want the cork leaving the bottle too early so you recage the bottle so it wont eject the cord but also is prepared to be sabred
@@L.C.Sweeney Sounds a very Hussar thing to do.
This is stupid, why are they breaking the bottle
because it looks cool, its kinda the poijnt

Ya'll spend 8 hrs on the history rather than actually showing people how to carefully do it. BAD
It's unnecessarily complicated and potentially dangerous.
