- Quick and easy repair of a pull string lamp. The metal ball pull string broke, luckily I have some in my shop to complete the repair but you can pick this up at your local Hardware store for only a couple of dollars.
Cheap and easy fix that you can do your self for a couple of dollars in a couple of minutes.

My pleasure. This video has helped more people than I would have imagined. I am glad it saved you some money and your fixed your lamp.
I have the same lamp and my pull string broke exactly the same way. I didn’t know how to open it withoutt breaking the plastic. I’m glad I found this video.

This was exactly what I needed! I was able to fix mine thanks to you!
picked up a lamp from the curb yesterday because it was exactly what I wanted for my living room, and it works great except for the broken chain. asked around for advice and someone recommended this video. what the heck, it's literally the same lamp you're working on. guess they make them with crappy chains? or you got tired of yours and put it out on the curb last weekend 😂
Thank you for this video! You are a life saver
Have the same lamp. Thanks for the video!

this really helped me
I am glad it helped! Makes it all worth it. Thanks
I wish I saw this sooner before I took the entire thing apart. I'm not sure how to put it back together now.
You can do it!
i have that lamp (its the black one w/ white shade), and the cheap metal chain snapped so I replaced it, thanks.
You're very welcome! I also have the black one with the white shade, in a different room of course. I love to see these comments, I am so glad this helped you. Makes it all worth it.
What's the name of that type of lamp?
I have a similar lamp with the similar issue in that the chain broke off. For this, my husband went out and bought a nickel pull chain switch, where it’s clear, has its own chain, and had the 2 small black wires, but every video I find on this particular chain switch is in regards to ceiling fan lights. Does this apply to the non-ceiling lamp or do I need to return this ?
It sounds like the switch your husband bought is for a ceiling fan. Yes I would return it since you are just trying to repair a lamp. The hardware will be a little different between the two items (lamps and ceiling fans). If you just had your chain break than your switch should be fine like in this video and you should just need to replace the chain. If a bigger repair is needed than you will need to purchase a new lamp socket with pull chain switch and remove and replace the old broken one. But first I would start with just trying to replace the chain. Good Luck!
Thank you!!
