I'm from Texas (not gonna say which part), but power is currently out. For about 2-3 days now, i've been getting some wood from a forest nearby, and i've been using some of the snow to get some water, because the houses water froze over during the time the snow came. Ever since then, the power has been off and on, and I haven't taken a shower for a bit.

Thanks for this! Lived in apartments and stuff all my life as an adult . Had fireplaces but never used them. This morning after Christmas my wife woke me up and "asked" me to get a fire going in the fireplace of our new home. I was scared as hell lol. Your video worked perfect. I even went to the store and got the fire extinguisher and kiln fired wood. End of the story, your instruction lead to a perfect fire in minutes and I look like a badass woodsman to my family lol. It's Dec 21 2022 and we just moved to a condo with a fireplace. We had lost our home in hurricane Ida and decided to downsize. This is the first time I've ever had fireplace and we just heard that most of the USA will be facing the freezing temps you had last year. I wanted to have a pro check the flue & clean the chimney before our first fire but as you can imagine everyone has a waiting list. I have 2 extinguishers and will try to find firewood tomorrow. This is the first video that made this something I think I can handle as a 75 year old! We are praying we don't lose power. We are used to power outages after hurricanes. BBQ grill to cook on and battery fans and sit in the car with AC on to charge our phones. Any advice for dealing with power outages in cold weather would be greatly appreciated. Man you have changed my life. First of all I always thought it was flute, until you said flue. Second, prime the chimney by burning newspaper, holy crap it works. Third, put small pieces of wood down, and then bigger pieces of wood on top. I have lit about 10 fires 🔥 in the past month using this method. You are a beast!! Thanks.
