Simon got rid of Airi chan because he thought the rest of the girls relied on her too much. He thought by cutting her, everyone else would be able to come out of their shell.
I think Simon Jakops pulled some strings to at least get Hikaru and Rei a shot on Girls Planet 999.
I think he had the conviction that they both had the talent and one of them would make their debut in Kep1er.

Simon Jakops was a Rapper/Vocalist in Kpop group DMTN so he knows what he's talking about when training them.

im sure they did tons of in house vocal training with simon but i think they also trained with sm's vocal coach. i think he was briefly shown in one of the earlier episodes and aespa talked about how they regularly heard praise about xg from their vocal teacher in the bts of their collab tik tok

Once again, I'm emotional watching this reaction with you! I never got the chance to watch Girls Planet so I can only imagine how emotional you were watching Hikaru's arc! You almost exactly shared the reaction that Hinata had with their win!
There are 2 more episodes left and I can't wait for your reactions to them both. It's been such an emotional ride but I love how you give your thoughts at the end. It was really really hard witnessing some parts of the process so raw, but afterwards I just felt such a closer bond to all the members, even the ones that were cut.
Both episodes are emotional, and personally with no spoilers, I have to say 8 is my favorite. You'll see. :D
That call with Simon convinced me he's a different type of manager and really has the girls best interest in mind. Since then he's showed how much he protect the girls and want then to succeed. 💯💯🫶👍✌️
they had other coaches too, tho i think they do follow simon's vision. i saw sm's vocal coach pop up once in the docu. as well as simon's co-member in dmtn (former group). so his co-member dayday teaches xg rap and alsp writes verses for their songs. i think he was credited sometimes as rap director too, something like that.
I think Kamiya Airi is about family issue maybe one of her parent sick or either the Avex wanted them to be 7. Simon actually wanted to debut 8 but this project was sponsored by Avex Japan. Correct if I am wrong

1:12:59 I think they actually taught themselves the choreography. If you watch closely, they first performed Mascara in front of Simon, and then they had their first interaction with Sienna. You can see the girls are shocked to see her and talk to her for the first time. What we see next (Sienna showing them moves) is probably when Sienna corrected some steps. I think. 😆
