I love the Career Path videos on this channel. It helps students like myself to know how a college degree in a certain discipline can translate to certain job prospects in the real world.
It would be nice to including the avg number of job postings and salary info. These shows potential career paths but it can be very challenging if everytime you apply for one of these gigs you have to compete with hundreds of other qualified candidates.
I majored in communications thinking it was sexier and more employable than majoring in English. I fully regret this and would undo my years of being a communications major to be an English major nerd any day.
Most jobs want experience, I love this video but realistically if you don’t have experience jobs won’t hire you. I have an English degree currently and it’s not that easy
Same. I just finished college with an English degree and have been sending my resume everywhere like a mad woman. The few interviews I’ve been able to get the first thing they’ll say is “so you mainly focused on school huh?” I have a few things listed as experience on my resume but because they were short lived ( a few months due to being summer internships) I guess it’s not enough. Even securing a freaking fast food job is hard for me, I’m guessing the bachelors is like an over-qualification. Idk. 😩
I rly want to switch to an english degree major. Im currently in med school but I rly want to take literature cause Im unhappy now and want to leave the country if I can find work there
Wow the lady was so cool, she's definitely on the right track, this video truly inspired me, I love languages too and writing, I would love to persue a career in that field but we're often told that we're going to starve with a degree on our hands, especially in my country South Africa where unemployment among the youth is at its peak.
such a great video, I want to have carrer in gaming community, to be a writer for games and animations films, does any of you have someinformations how to start/study look for internshios?
Yes, with training and skill development, it is possible to become a technical writer with an English degree. Check out this resource for more information on becoming a technical writer - indeedhi.re/3lgKG0D. -CC
@@dernddy I heard back from one job yesterday! However, it wasn’t for technical writing, it was for a sales position. Good pay though! Some companies are simply looking for people with degrees, this job had nothing to do with my English degree and they called me back. It is actually higher paying than any other position I applied for. Starting pay, 77k. Able to be promoted twice within the first 18 months and can eventually become CEO of a location after some years. Pretty crazy!

Yeah man of course you can. I applied to many technical writing positions recently, we’ll see if I hear back.
