Thank you for sharing this. Now I'm able to enjoy the amazing art during covid 19
Super video! AK Doesn't get the credit it deserves for sure. My late sister and I used to go there AT LEAST 2 days during our WDW trips. Hang out & explore just like you did. Observe the animals. I'm still in awe of this place. The tree is an incredible work of art. We always found it amazing, you're in the middle of a "theme park" and you can find piece and solitude. Thanks for posting. Haven't been since I lost my sister. Miss her & our adventures so much:(
This video is fantastic!
Animal Kingdom was absolutely amazing
I agree. Have you visited Animal Kingdom before?
I went to Animal Kingdom on 2003 i loved it Rode Kilimanjaro Safaris loved the animals i saw Watched Festival of Lion King Its Tough to be a Bug Rode Dinosaur it was great vacation
I liked seeing the carving of the bactrian camel at 8:39 on the video.
Fantastic catch. I would have never noticed this.
All these years and I never knew these paths existed. So glad I found this video! You may also have a new podcast listener, :)
You are right about taking your time and exploring DAK During our first trip, we rushed right by "Camp Minniemickey". When we returned we found that it was an awsome place for character meet & greets with hardly any lines and all of the major characters.
perfect picnic area for my fam....wow
I have two beautiful parrots, a blue crowned conure & a sun conure that I love like they were my own children. However, if Animal Kingdom would take them and they could live their lives out in this beautiful, natural place I would give them up in a heartbeat
Great video. I've never been to the Tree of Life but we will be in a few months. Thank you for not being all loud and chatty. When people do that it sort of makes the video unwatchable. Great guides. 👍👍👍☮
Often people miss what is right under their noses. During our last trip in 2009 we got a picture of a very exotic-looking and very huge grasshopper that was just out munching on a plant near Expedition Everest.
Well said, and so true. Most people who go to AK ride the rides, watch the parade and leave. Have heard SO MANY people say, "not much to do in AK, we didn't even stay a full day". WHAT!!! Then it's obvious to me that they possibly have ADD, and have NO idea what this park is about in the first place, Animals & Nature.
I remember going on that path, I was in a wheel chair and got stuck in between some rocks 😂
+Kityena As much as Disney tries they will never be able to make the parks easy for wheelchairs. My son has been in a wheelchair since 2 years old. The hardest place to navigate is the Magic Kingdom Mainstreet, The trolley tracks are horrible to fall into. Even with that I would never want to see those tracks or the trolley's be removed.
+These Amazing Places agreed
+These Amazing Places what about the street sidewalks?
As we talk to people and watch crowds in the Disney parks, it's our general impression that people don't seek and find "hidden" places around Walt Disney World. This is one of those areas. Perhaps some of them just don't have time to seek out things because they just want to ride rides and move on, but our passion has to be to show people that Disney Parks have so much more to offer than just riding rides. This path is easy to find if you're looking, but it's not "advertised" like a ride is.
There are 2 main "entries/exits." The video starts at the entrance near the front of the park. The path wanders in and throughout the Tree of Life (over It's Tough to be a Bug queue area) and ends at the exit of the It's Tough to be A Bug attraction toward the backside of the Tree of Life.
Dude!!! You skipped where the rope was blocking with the sign. Where did you go when the rope blocked your path? Which way did you turn?
The Tree of Life isn't being converted to Avatar. An Avatar themed land IS coming to Animal Kingdom, but it's going to be contained within the old Camp Minnie Mickey area where the old Lion King theater used to be (a new theater was built in Africa to make way for the land clearing in the area for Avatar).
The Tree of Life is remaining mostly as-is apparently, though some minor alterations are likely going to be made to the internal infrastructure (likely some lighting enhancements from the looks of concept art). Discovery Island is getting a new night time show called Rivers of Light for 2016. It looks kind of similar to World of Color from California Adventure from released concept art. Work has already begun in the area for the night show.
Tree of Life was closed until recently because the It's Tough to be a Bug movie was being refurbished. Not because Avatar is taking over the area. They have also been doing some maintenance on the tree's branches because pieces of it had broken off within the past couple of years (luckily overnight when no one was around but it was something that needed addressing before a real accident occurred during open hours). This is why there are a lot of nets around the tree area. They've apparently begun removing the nets because the necessary tree work is wrapping up.
Btw where does this path end up taking you?
The Animal Kingdom is my favorite theme park.
With Pandora opening on May 27th it's probably going to become everyone's favorite
A friend had visited DAK 5 times and each time he returned he would say, "There are no animals in Animal Kingdom". He would admit seeing animals in Kilimanjaro Safaris but that was it. Finally, I went there with him and showed him the animal exhibits in The Oasis, Pangani and Maharajah trails and found out that he had been walking right past the exhibits without even bothering to look left or right. What a waste.
Thank you for posting. My favorite place in AK. Great job except I would have enjoyed seeing a few more of the animals that inhabit "the garden". The Golapogos Tortoises for one, capibaras(spell), etc. Now I don't know if they are even still there since it has been a while for me. I was also hoping that someone, (and I really thought it was going to be you), would get the plaque that is dedicated to Jane Goodall on film. Such a peaceful place, isn't it? Surprizing given it's locale!
The video shows you most of the path. If you start near the Pizzafari end it takes you all the way through the middle of the park until you get to the end of the Tough to Be a Bug exit. Thanks for the comments! This path is so widely overlooked, spread the word, this path is awesome!
are you trying to tell me that this path is not widely known about or something? i figure if i was exploring the area i would easily find this!!
FYI, the path where you pass the huge Asian Catfish, only goes about 50 or so yards back and now stops. They have it blocked off as of last week. Just a heads up
That's sad - I hope it's something that will reopen before summer.
I'm hoping this is for Avatarland construction. Hopefully if will only be long enough to run something through that area and then they can reopen. Thanks for the heads up
Actually was there today. The Asian Catfish area was drained and was being worked on. The path only goes up to where the kangaroo area is, then it is roped off. And the Pandora area is to the left of Tusker House/Africa area(it's all blocked off)
I have heard that this is due to changes being made to accommodate the River of Light show that should open in 2015-2016
These Amazing Places
Avatarland? Like from the James Cameron movie?
Makes sense, since the tree was made out of an oil rig.
Not out of an oil rig, but built up around one.
