PRO OR NOOB? - OPERATING A MONSTER TIMBER FORWARDER

- čas přidán 3. 12. 2021
- I filmed this about 3 months ago. Hornby Enterprises had there huge Valmet 890.3 forwarder at the farm to remove a lot of fallen trees. I had a go at operating the beast, trying to unload some logs!
Great bit of kit. I Like watching Logger Wade run a harvester. Thanks. Be well and stay safe.
Ol logger wade a funny bloke, love his build video's like Blacky and his service truck and bits around the saw mill
That looks so hard to operate efficiently and that guy just made it look effortless! I love watching operators using complex machines like its just an extension to their body. Great opportunity to look at something a bit different, thanks for sharing with us.
Awesome machine, I operated a 890-1 valmet over a few contractors I found it much easier and quicker to load trucks than excavator 👍
11:34 it has a steering wheel
Great bit of kit George, nice to see something different on your channel, by the way any more footage coming on the Balerus crawler, I'd love to see that working for a living again.
Really enjoyed that George, we bought a forwarder 6 years ago, i reckon we got it cracked how to drive it about a week ago , all the best Matt.
Great video, interesting with a cab tour and crash course in different piece of equipment 👍🏻 Congrats with the +100 k followers, keep the great and beautiful made videos coming 😊
You had a good go at it, George good all rounder . That fella is very skilled at his job . Great footage 👍
Been driving forest machines for about 3 years here in sweden. Goes fairly quick to get used to if you have been driving excevators before. We have 7 komatsus and 1 ponsse and 4 of them are about a year old, a lot more tech in them than the old valmet 890
fantastic video George that is some bit of kit there that would take me even longer to master them controls in that machine LOL
That guy’s skill with the Forwarder was a joy to watch. You could invite him to come and try some bale stacking with the Agri-Pro to see if the skills are transferable! Really good video and something quite different.
awesome,i remember watching the lads handballing onto fordson majors with racks front and back .little bit of modification you could have an expensive self loading bale wagon
My friend has his license for one of these beauty’s, he’s also doing his test for the harvester, I’m so jealous of him, in a good way though. He works for the forestry up here in the NE of Scotland. Cracking vid 👍
I used to operate some old timberjack forwarders and recently, some much newer ponsses. Forwarders and harvesters do take a while to get used to, but eventually you get to where you dont even think about it. West coast oregon and washington have a few sets of these machines that work on super steep ground with winches. Its amazing where they can go
I think the operator is a magician!! That is some piece of kit!
Fantastic video George, different machine. Top man
George , that was AWESOME , look difficult for a noobie , i would love a try in that , cheers George
Something a bit different 👌. Always thought a modified one would make a handy round bale carter
We get the bales that we bale far away delivered on a truck with a timber grab
Brilliant. What a machine. Fully justified swearing. 👍 Even on film its so weird the cab not slewing with the boom!
Unless if it was John Deere E or G series machines with articulating cabins.
Bit of a monster that one George nice to see a different machine
that looks a fantastic machine
What a machine that is, great skill operating it.
Harder than you may think
George, I think you extended the "Risk Zone" of 30M to 60M?! That gentleman was a good sport to let you have a go. 👍
Hard hat required when going close to the 8x8 carrier.
Best left to the professionals George 🙉🙉🙉👍👍👍👍
That is sweet George 👌🏻
Impressive machines :) Here in Norway there are a lot of these, quite rare to see them without chains and tracks on the boggies :)
I just started working for a company as a trainee forwarder operator. I've had loads of experience with a tractor and a crane but these forwarders take some getting used to.
Good evening George, something different to look 👀 at and to watch being operated with great skill, however but still extremely interesting to see and I could watch something like that again but a completely different machine?? and until next time George TaRa for a bit.
Wouldnt say no to aload of that wood George keep the work shop warm lol.
Great stuff Men, yes , would imagine it would take a while to get to grips with a machine like that:):)
Good video George quite a bit o skill required there to get the most from the machine 💪👍
Great video George good 👍 bit of kit keep up the good work George 👍👍👌👌👌🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
I'm from Ireland.. My dad and my twin brother operate timber harvesters.. Alot different from farming
I was glad I could have a go. Certainly would need plenty of seat time to get proficient 👍
Turns out quite hard eh George 🤣 great video.
Bloomin hard mate! 😁
@@GeorgeSaunders I bet it was! I used a digger with a steel wrist last year and I felt completely alien to begin with, the bucket was going everywhere I didn't want it to🤣
Would love to see a video of the timber harvesting machine !!!
Thanks George great vid .. Take care sir...
Those old Valmets just run forever we used to have a Valmet 830.3 it had 23 000 hours on the clock when it got changed for a sampo rosenlew FR28 forwarder
This one has 18,500
Did they have steering wheels?
Yes but only to satisfy the law in some European countries where they can be driven down the road
@@matthewallen4625 Germany, France or Sweden?
@@staceytowers9056 not sure.
Would be interesting to convert it to a self propelled slurry unit, i.e., put a 3k gallon tanker on the buggy. I've seen it done with a dumper but as a potential skid unit, the dumper would probably be good bit cheaper.
Ponsse actually offers a tank unit for forwarder, but it's made for forestry fire control, with powerful water cannon.
I never understand why they have little hand controls why not bigger like the 360s have is there a reason for this ?? Sorry if I asked a silly question but I don’t know anything about the forestry equipment but it definitely looks a weapon tho 👍💯
There is a lot more to do compared to an excavator. Rotate, grab and telescopic functions in addition to the boom and slew functions. Also a good forwarder operator will be driving and steering whilst using the crane. Mini levers make it easier for the fingers to reach buttons for these additional functions and also because there is much more movement needed compared to excavators in is work than using bigger levers.
What will you be using the wood for George?
Loved it george really cool.
An interesting machine. 👍👍
re bonjour George alors tu va te mettre dans le forestier 😂, sa doit pas être facile a conduire sa , merci pour cette belle vidéo et bon courage a toi pour la suite 😍👍👍👍
Hallo george in my area drive a Lot of harvester and forwarder thats intresting machine
That’s the log burner stocked for a few years!
I operate a grab lorry day to day and would love to get on the timber lorrys
This has 8 wheels and pivot steering
what did you do with the logs sell them to a timber processing plant or are you using it for firewood?
Hi George Nice Video something different Thanks Again
Nice video, greetings Johan
George are we getting more LEGO video's? I need something to watch while building Airfix.
Or better.. you start building an Airfix Spitfire😉
I was only just thinking today that it's December and I haven't done any, where does the time go? I'll get some done this month👍 what are you building at the moment?
Haha you have me on Facebook George.. tagged you in a picture a couple months ago "Watching George while building my Panther kit"
I have about 6 kits building at the minute. From tanks and planes to a Hitachi ZAXIS small crane. Fun kit!
👍
Cool video, what do they call these in the states? A skidder is a different yoke isn't it, aka, no buggy/trailer component.
Forwarder in the US
We have forwarders in the US too. Over a dozen companies in Oregon and Washington alone have these machines, some have dozens of them.
Great video George, is the machine 8 wheel drive or just 4,looks like it's hydrostatic as well
its 8 wheel drive but 4 motors and turns 4 big chains so its 4 hydrlic motors and 4 chains drive
Automatic gearbox meaning no clutch.
Hi George, That is some machine plus he can use it a bit well, Are you going to take up moving wood 🪵. Well you stay safe and well.🌈🌈🚜🪵👍. Just in case I don’t speak before Christmas 🎄 you have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Good show old boy
Well European logging is bit a different from here in Central Bc
I have one of these but have no idea how to start it? and tips
Parking brake activated and turn the key to the right
I didn’t think people could actually be good at these! My experience in Farm Sim 19, I’m atrocious at the controls!!!
What is the purpose of these wood poles, firewood or saw plank lumber ❓🍶🚜
To be chipped up for biomass boiler fuel
And firewood
George I think it’s better you stick with farming!! 🤔
Unload timber near the farm road
Never heard your F*#:*#*G bleep machine before on a vid George. 👍
Needed it on this one Vincent 👍
Your gonna have a few hours splitting that lot with your trusty axe 🪓 😉
Think I'll that to you
semi-noob :)
Let’s see a real pile of wood
Noob🤨
👍
