This is very quiet unusual to spot, cool footage. I also found recently a heritage unit Amtrak of the F40PH (cab car) on the Downeaster in which I did not spot in the last couple days I had spotted.
Glad you enjoyed. That was the 90406 that you saw - it’s still running around on the Downeaster paired with locomotive 100 in the “midnight blue” scheme.
I understand that they do not have engine blocks or provide power to the train, but as they are still classified as a variant of F40 I labeled them as locomotives for the sake of not over complicating the title of this video.
What’s the purpose of three engines on the head end? Very rare, only time I saw a consist like that was when an Amtrak extra with two engines at the back came through West Medford on the Lowell Line 2 months ago.
The 90213 and 93 were part of train 694 that came down from Maine as usual. In Boston, the other two on the head end (90224 and 109) had just arrived at North Station after coming over the Grand Junction Running Track from the South Side and were attached to the front of the train in order to avoid having to run the two locomotives up to Maine separately.
OMG I saw that extra come through west medford on March 30th when we went there, we met three teenagers who snap photos of the commuter rail on a tripod and post videos of them on CZcams and one said an Amtrak extra would be coming through with three engines on the head end and that’s when I said no way. I didn’t know they could have three engines pulling a train. Also, why did the first train have EMD F40PH NPCU #90214 leading and GE P42DC #95 trailing. Did those two engines originate in Maine or New Hampshire? Was it #695 or #696? I’m confused here, sorry about the weird question.
The train in this video wasn’t an extra, it was Downeaster 695 going north to Maine with passengers onboard. The one with 90214 leading was 696 coming south from Maine
Did you hear, F40PH-3C #1035 has eyes. 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 Not just the commuter rail, but five trains on the Green Line also have them. I’m dying to see a train pull up to the station with two googly eyes on the front watching over you in either side the road number.
As far as I know Locomotive #1035 is the only one that has them and Green Line trolleys: Type 7 number unknown but I would think it’s 3671, Type 8 #3864 and Type 9s #3909 and #3918 have them as of now. That’s not a lot and the chances of finding them would be 40/100 I’d say because a handful of trains go by every 30 minutes and it would be hard to find them.

I haven’t seen much of it since 2 or 3 weeks ago.

How fascinating. The two P42s in the consist had an easy ride !
For sure - two on the train and not one leading! Haha
Technically it’s 1 engine and 2 cabcars lmao. Soild footage!
Yes of course, but that sounds less interesting ! Thanks sir
I saw 696 that day. I wish I could’ve seen 695 :/
It happens - can’t get them all, I suppose !
I enjoyed today's upload and did u hear or seen 3C 1035 engine it has eyes 👀 lol 😆 😂 😄
Yes I saw it just the other day haha, cheers
@@rail_spike_productions lol 😆 😂
Cab cars do not count as locomotives. The power plant has been removed. They also serve as baggage cars, hence the name cabbage car.

OMG sorry about that, I’m all mixed up, lol. 😅😢

Was this March 30th?(may have gotten date wrong) I saw it at W Medford.

Yeah I saw that unit just the other week, there will be a few shots of it in my June edition for Newburyport/Rockport line commuter trains
