  • This is a special episode, the first one ever of the Walking the Land with a Regenerative Farmer, where we walk the land of the farm with a farmer while we talk about regeneration.
Walking through Iside Farm on the Iseo Lake in Italy, with regenerative farmer Matteo Mazzola, we unlock the secrets of regenerative agriculture as we traverse the innovative landscapes crafted by Matteo, Paola and the Iside crew. We embark on a profound exploration of sustainable farming, showcasing Matteo’s expertise in farm design, water systems, and the integration of olive trees and animals into the land. Learn how access ways are more than just paths across a farm; they’re a vital component in the flow of energy and resources, helping to prevent erosion with concrete strips and alfalfa, and offering additional crop space. Matteo’s wisdom extends to the creative reuse of shipping containers, illustrating a commitment to terraforming that marries functionality with environmental stewardship.

Started listening on the podcast but moved over to CZcams so that I could SEE your walk.
I love seeing rather than just hearing what individuals are doing on their land. Seeing how we can work with nature and how nature flourishes around human imputs and influences. It helps me as I attempt to implement same or similar concepts on my own land.

Love the idea of this being a series! Definitely want to visit Europe / Italy soon and now I have someone else to visit! Thanks for putting this up and helping to move us in the regenerative direction

beautiful! hard to go wrong in many parts of Italy as working with nature is part of their culture of good food. Especially places like Naples which have periodically been covered in volcanic rock!

Wish someone would invest in my regenerative agriculture. The municipality said no to almost all the things I wanted like a pond or even a fence so i could have animals grazing.. The predominant mentality is they need to cover everything with cement and cars and anything wild is seen as ugly and useless.

      That's quite sad indeed!

That fear keeps me off from even asking. Even learn the language. As long you are doing stuff within common interest and not bothering others, you should be free to do it. Once you get told the ruleset of the year in details, you loose any hope and with it might leave the happiness and motivation

@@joeeigo9820 no I think it's a necessary evil in Italy to also learn about and try and figure out the bureaucracy and closed mindedness. For me it has been about forming a group to rewrite the local "norme rurali"

Hi Cedric, thanks for your comment!
Actually the footage is of a previous period on the farm compared to the period we recorded the interview, so the audio in some moments can't match with the video! Hope you enjoyed it anyway!
