- Timothy Saccenti, previously known for directing videos for the likes of Battles, Flying Lotus, Chairlift & Animal Collective, amongst others, has teamed up with Alan Bibby to create a beautiful short visual piece for 'Eyes Be Closed'.
It's the first single to be taken from 'Within and Without', the long awaited debut album from Washed Out.

I think the video is a perfect accompaniment to the song. It's playful 80's cheesy to go along with the whole chillwave style, and the easygoing feel really makes you relax and just listen to the song instead of trying to force a distracting narrative.
I bought tickets to Maverick in SA two years ago......because I always do. I went inaugural year and then when you guys came and been ever since and going again in a week and half. When you guys came you were the marquee highlight of whom I went to see. Psychic City was also top notch along with the Gories if I have my dates straight. Joy Formidable was also awesome! Last year my go to band was Best Coast. Get out here and tour again. You guys are awesome!!
Oddly enough, I think this video is perfect for the song, maybe it speaks to me in a different way, but this is what I see in my head when I listen to any washed out song, just the travel in a very fast pace which brings ecstatic feelings and euphoria, idk how to explain it other than that way, it just takes me to another world I guess
Cherry Chanel I totally agree with you. There's a soporific feel to the whole thing, drugged and blissed out, and for me there are even the smallest hints of tongue in cheek humour. I get the impression some of the other commentators on here are sort of missing the point. then again, there's no accounting for taste, really.
DarrenBonJovi yeah, I know what you mean, I remember that for a long tome I had this sound in my head, I couldn't explain what it was it was just this sound that I didn't know how to explain, and I remember I was watching Project X, and this song came on (it was Despicable Dog washed out remix) and I thought "this is it, this is the sound I had in my head".

So, somebody somewhere posted incorrect lyrics to this (incredible) song and it seems that every lyric website out there just ran with it. Now they all have those same lyrics with literally no variation between sites and there are clearly issues with them. I watched all of the live versions of this song that I could find in order to attempt to lip-read, and this is what I came up with. I know it's not 100% correct, but it's so much closer than what's out there, especially the final stanza. Let me know what you think:

1/18/2023 ... haven't listened to this song or artist in about 5 years...but for some reason he came to mind and I searched for this song in particular....so calming but also incredibly moving....sometimes I feel that beautiful music can and will be our salvation..... what say you???

This video clip reminds me of music videos or adverts I've seen before. I swear that was an early 00s Trance video which also had a blonde girl speeding on a futuristic, kind of TRON-like bike and universe, in a black outfit with green stripes on the side. @88tide Um, it's not the progression, it's the entire packing of the song. The way both have echoing chords with the space in between each to let them breathe. The tempo and sequence of the beats are extremely similar. Most chord progressions (maybe every chord progression?) isn't new. There are hundreds of songs that go I - V - vi - IV but they sound different enough that people don't always think it's the same. This song just sounds very similar to Moby's, the instrumentation, melody, etc.
