Central Kalahri Game Reserve, or the CKGR is one of my favorite places to be when in Africa. It is so remote, so far from anyone and everyone, and not a lot of people go there because of that.
The rainy season also gives you a good chance to see and experience so many different things like the african bullfrogs we were lucky to hang around.
It is not difficult, dangerous or scary to go into the Kalahari, it is just a long drive. I take the A3 road from Maun towards Rakops, and there you will find the CKGR sign leading to the Matswere Gate 40km in. You then have 40 more kilometres to go to reach deception valley which is my favorite place in CKGR.
There are seveeral other places far from deception you can book and camp at, like Piper Pan and Sunday Pans. I believe those are privately owned and more expensive.
If you have any other questions about Kalahri, drop me a comment and ill get back to you!
    Cheers for watching!

Hey folks - if youre watching the video it is to give you an idea of what a selfdrive safari adventure in CKGR would be like. If youre going to Botswana, you have to visit this gem! And if something is unclear, ask me any questions in the comments!

I love watching your videos. Very informative. I liked and subscribed to your channel.
Quick question: do you have any videos of self-driving in CKGR during dry season? You mention getting stuck during wet season. Can a 4x4 get stuck during dry season (say July-August) - e.g. in puddle/sand or clay etc?

Hey Craig - I dont, and yes, you can get stuck in deep sand as well, so always deflate tyres to about 1,5-1,2 bar pressure if you hit a section with really deep sand. And keep the vehicle moving!

Is this a good place to visit to see elephants?

Hey Juan, no - there little water there apart from the rainy season. You can find the tracks and poop, but the bush is so thick, so youll be lucky if you see them. I found one while driving in the thickets, and him and I were both very startled! Go to Moremi instead ( I made a video from there as well) Plenty of ellies there
