In the middle of your podcast, listening with great interest, and I just had to stop and say how much I enjoy it, because of your personality and I love the weekly rhythm because it allows you to share so many processes that happen in knitting, that tend to get lost in the podcasts that are once every blue moon. I think there is so much to learn because these are the things that happen to all of us, swatches lying, tweaks and modifications, change of plans, problems etc. thanks for sharing so many details! 🌷🌷 back to the podcast

@@mostlyknitting I get it, I think we don't necessarily all always remember all the details. and maybe people can skip if something is not interesting to them? one thing I often think is that when I want to knit a certain thing I will try to remember and access your videos because there is SO much information!! I try to use ravelry but I never find so much in the notes, and it is so different hearing it live in a video..🌺🌺

I found you some weeks ago when I needed help picking up stitches for sleeves. I was so happy to find a 'local' (I'm in Melbourne). I found you again today when I looked for others who have made Pink Velvet, as I've just started. Your episodes move along beautifully and I am picking up a lot of the things that will make my knitting a bit more polished. I have been collecting oodles of vintage fabrics for project bags. I used the Ranunculus cast on for the underarm instructions to reverse my ribbing, which has you working in the opposite direction. No idea if it’s the ‘right’ way to do it but it worked. 😃🤞

The knits you are finishing are awesome and really suit your figure. I am knitting with fingering weight yarn not my favourite yarn at all. Love the bag you have cut out. When I was away I had a chest pain episode on the 20th October 2023 and the small tablets that Ihad go put under my tongue did not give much relief. I contacted the Physician and snd I was prescribed something else. I had to carry on the rest of the journey to Knysna in pain and feeling very ill. By the next morning the pain was gone. I spent a lot of time exploring Knysna. Tash take care ❤😊

Tash, Wow what beautiful work... your latest Ranunculus is such divine. The colour is gorgeous and so is your Pink Velvet. The combination is amazing. Also the new icy blue for your half and half is perfect ! Would love if you could have a tutorial for Jennies super stretchy bind off and how you deal with the extra stitches. I just made a project bag recently and excited to make a couple more as I was very pleased with the end result. Happy knitting ...
Thanks so much. So just for clarification, do you mean a video where i modify Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off to where you do less yarn overs? I have a tutorial for the technique as Jeny designed it here czcams.com/video/NHbGR9NB_HI/video.htmlsi=dNQyipYX375B34e- .
All I would do to modify is to not add the yarn over before every other stitch. With a 1x1 rib, i would skip all the yarn overs that happen before knit stitches. With a 2x2 rib, i would just skip every second yarn over. If that still isnt clear, let me know and I can definitely do a video on that.

Crazy- I just finished the Orbits sweater in Linen Quill: Red Poppy and Birds Egg Blue!! I had the same thought about the Red Poppy- more orangey than I expected. In some lights (outside) it’s actually more of the tomato red I was looking for.
How funny! I just had a look at your Orbits Sweater. It's so pretty! These two colours really play well together. The light definitely seems to make a difference with the Red Poppy. :)

Patty Lyons has another semi-stretchy cast-off: knit the next stitch but don’t drop it off the left needle (yet). Then use the left needle to slip first stitch over second stitch; now drop the stitch you were “holding” on the left. That twisting action adds a little extra yarn to the cast off but not as much as a yarn over.
That sounds a like a great semi-stretchy cast off. Patty Lyons has so much knowledge. :)

Hi Tash, your Thea top looks great. I love how you hop up and down and turn around and point all the things out it’s so good to see a knit in action.
I’ve noticed that in plant fibers knitting the rib, both sides seem to look close enough (but that can vary a bit too) it’s mainly in the wool that I’ve noticed largest difference.
I added short rows to my anker tee to lower the back so I’d say maybe try it on as you go just to see how it fits. I’ve noticed some designers don’t put any short rows in the back on circular yolk tops, I learned this the hard way with one of my winter knits that didn’t fit right so now I always keep an eye out on the round yokes 🫣
I’m tempted to copy your ranunculus and I have a bit more yarn (thank you) so maybe some sleeves 🤔
I was a maths nerd in high school, took extra classes outside and went into competitions - these days I can hardly add up 😬🤣

Thanks so much Karen. I think i will add some short rows to the back. I missed the first stockinette section but i can add some in the next few and that will be a convenient place to do the German short row for swapping sides with the 1x1 rib.
It is interesting to see that it doesnt make as much of a difference in plant fibers. Must have something to do with the elasticity of wool. It is fun experimenting, though. :)

The Thea top has a bit of a sheen to it on camera again fits perfectly. The pink velvet is STUNNING. Those colours are a great combo! I like your arms on the Ranunculous I don’t like the way some of the knitters do them when doing short sleeves they look odd and unfinished but yours look lovely how about I just come and live with you and you can knit just for me?
Thanks so much Michelle. I know what you mean about the way the pattern is written for short sleeves. It just sort of ends and looks like it needs some kind of finishing. I do like having a bit of ribbing on the bottom of the sleeves so it matches the neckline and the hem.
I'm so happy i switched out the grey for the brown with the Pink Velvet. Much better combo.
I dont think you would like living with me. My house is chaotic with kids and dogs and stuff all over the place. I would love it to be a bit tidier but as long as i live with three teens and a dog with hair that sheds, I am just living in a state of relative acceptance. ;)
Try the Avenue Scarf from Galt House of Yarn if looking for an alternative to the Sophie Scarf. Similar style to your modifications.

So this is the one where I write about the different parts 🤗😂 love the thea, it looks like a great basic, the sophie scarf, it makes me laugh I had so many resistences to this (just like the ranunculus) because of seeing it everywhere, but now, hearing you talk about it I was wondering if it could be the right project for my neice who is just starting to learn to knit? At the moment she is knitting a cowl in the round, her first project that we set up together. Unfortunately she lives far away but with technology we can communicate...what do you think as a teacher? can the i-cord be too much for a second project? with all the increases and decreases? Your rancunculs is lovely, that color is beautiful! and so is the rancunculus! Love the gorgeous blanket! Oh! Great that you bought the right combination for the half and half, I had bought some yarn from purl soho too to make it, last year, when my sister in law brought it from the US, in two shades of blue, but I just parked it on the side for now, I wanted to first make anothe half and half in a "lesser" yarn, just like you do, I had started with alpaca but do not like the stitch definition in garter with it, so that is wip that is waiting to be decided...love all the plans! that blue with the beads is gorgeous! and yay to sewing! let me know if you happen to pass by Italy in July and would like to grab a cup of coffee 🤗🌺
Thanks so much for all your lovely comments. I am not sure about the Sophie Scarf as a second project if you arent nearby for assistance. I would think a beanie would be a good second project. Learn some ribbing and decreases. Maybe the Sophie scarf next? If she does start the Sophie scarf, having a stitch marker to mark the side where the increases begin and some other way to help her count rows would be good. It is a forgiving pattern except for those slipped stitches. If you forget to slip them and knit them, you lose the nice icord edge wherever you do that. It depends how particular she is. If little mistakes will bum her out, then it isnt a great one as that mistake is quite noticeable. If I am ever in Italy and near you, i would love to catch up for a coffee. :)

Yes, you are right it is not the best project, I thought about it because it looks so simple and minimal, but the more something is minimal, the more it is unforgiving, as you pointed out, and she is a perfectionist unfortunately (as am I), she wanted to do a sweater as her second project 🤗 but I think it would be overwhelming especially because I am not around, and it is something she does in the midst of a million other hobbies, and it's not her main thing. A beanie is a great idea. If she does finish the cowl, I can help her do a matching beanie (or not matching, whatever she prefers) 🌷🌷
@@mostlyknitting also I forgot to write that I also really love the knitting journal idea, I started one, that I am not very good at catching up with, but I think it is such a lovely testimonial, with the yarn, and I wanted to insert pics of the projects, I want to invest in a mini printer but get bogged down into deciding which one and when I read the reviews I just get confused. For me it's really important to have such a journal because 95% of what I knit are gifts and I have no track of all the things I made in the years...I took pics but I wonder where they are...so I want to have some sort of memory notebook...I started it for this year but am very basic at it, I would like o make it pretty at some point. So far I put the basic info (I don't write elaborate notes, mostly scribbles that are useless) some yarn, will put pic, the band from the yarn, etc...
Tash, maybe I didn't see well your glass beads.... it looks like the tube which is just cut. Please double check if the cut sides are sharp or not, it coudl cut your yarn.
Oh - that is a good point. Thank you for the warning. I will pull them out and try using them on a swatch and feeling for any rough parts. If there is any abrasion, i will give them a miss. Thanks for the reminder. :)
