    Bondhus is legit for the t-handle allens. Plus you can use them for your Marzocco gear too. Using the same set for 4 years almost daily. Do it.

    I've always used a combo of an air compressor with a long angled nozzle and a wire chimney brush to clean all duct work on the Probat P12's I've worked on. It's crazy how effective a little jet of air can be to get under that soot and just peel it off! And I feel ya....something always unexpected comes up with cleaning

    Your man Dino is king of the ballers, isn't he? Got some of that Onyx/Terroir chocolate, too. They're killing it! The Rudolph nose on the panther made my day

    Thank you for the useful information. Could you teach how to the roaster drum? It’s hard to find one who can clean the dum. Thank you so much.

    I know this is old, but when dealing with disassembly I find labeling the nuts to be an easy way to rebuild after taking large machines apart

    Hey Chris, thank you for such great videos! So approachable personable and accessible, something that is lacking in this third wave coffee scene. How often do you thoroughly clean your roaster?

    • @RealChrisBaca
      @RealChrisBaca  Před 6 lety +1

      All depends on how much you roast and what your ventilation is like. We were doing every week but moved it to bi-weekly for some parts and monthly for others.

    Chris what were the other "super weird" things you ran into while cleaning the roaster that Chad Tadashi had to fix? I've seen my fair share in 3 1/2 years tearing down my roaster. I love a clean roaster but it's an all day affair and buying the "perfect tool" is a rabbit hole I've gone down many times before.

    I'm sure many mentioned it and you already have a solution but do you think a chimney brush with flexible fiberglass rod would work for the single walled pipes? Maybe it's not aggressive enough for that type of build up.

    Hey Chris,
    How do you like the San Franciscan roaster? And, what informed your decision to buy a SF? Thanks

    • @RealChrisBaca
      @RealChrisBaca  Před 7 lety

      I love it. I'd worked on an older one before and had a good experience but in a nutshell it was: value for the money, readily available + good customer service, & easy parts replacement if necessary. I feel like most quality classic drum style roasters are capable of producing good quality coffee, and that it's more about the person standing in front of it. So with quality as a given it's more about the other qualities of the roaster.
      Having roasted on it for a while the things I especially enjoy are the variable speed fan (lots of flexibility) and responsiveness of the burner set up (lots of power).

      Different things at different times for maintenance along the way but full over/under monthly. Really depends on volume.
