Inside a remote tribe of Western Papua | SLICE

- The Asmat people live on the southwestern coast of western Papua. A land that remained unknown for a long time, free from outsiders, discouraged by the Asmats' terrifying reputation as cannibals and headhunters!
We went to film them, simply to be the witnesses of their untouched culture, in one of the last unexplored regions of the globe, and to better understand their way of life in this singular territory.
Extract from the documentary: “Asmat”
Direction: Jean-Michel Corillion
Production: ZED, Odyssée & RAI

Quality of this Channel is insane
I think tribes are the only people who are really"living" in this earth,Others are just thinking about 'gaining' anything before leaving this world...
Awesome video great footage 👍🏿
SLICE's videos are addictive
I love this kind of content❤️
SLICE you are always exeptionally amazing! Thanks a lot!
Its funny how the creators of this visuals failed to even transcript what the natives were saying but seems to know a great deal .
It's an AI CHANNEL.
I spent 2 months with the Asmat in 1994, just before the Indonesian government opened it up to foreigners. I'm sure the culture and environment has changed a lot since then.
Oh so was that you rowing with them in that old rowing video?? Lbs
@@anobodytrynatelleverybody7535 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Old habits die hard.
Thank God they didn’t eat you up!
My boss did the same thing but also with tribes around the world back in 1960's
Clicked on the video to see the cannibals doing cannibal stuff.
Watched them eat fish and birds.
Yeah, I was disappointed too.
That's a BIG Bird!! Cool!! Thanks🌺
A fish which does not flap about when caught and a cassowary which does not run when arrowed the first time.
Yep already dead
Scripted
They mentioned that the cassowary was already trapped, not dead. 🤓🍻
Lol yea this shit fake asf
He said the bird was trapped, you can see it shaking after it was shot with the arrows.
Slice is the best documentry, full of knowledge and best adventure channel.i would say its best than NAT geographic because everything that is showed on slice is based on facts
Just like the fish the women’s got ? Frozen 😂
Fantastic documentary, only wish it continued longer. So interesting. I love that their culture recognizes the matriarchal lineage. I know for certain if my brother had raised my son he would have had a much better life that his "real" father gave him. Ironically his biological father was raised in PNG.
Thanks you Slice , watching your videos feels like more than traveling in different countries .
Hey babe..
I think we were meant to be together 😜😘

I very much appreciate cameraman ,& editor It's not so easy to shoot in the dense jungle especially in the mess I mention that hunting spot congratulations your team 👍

These people have the coolest dugout canoes I have seen.
Filem dokumentasi yg bagus.
Amazing video quality
I watched this channel for a while and notice something strange that happening all over the world! it seems people catching dead fish everywhere! that's tats truly strange!
The technology created the climate change. Now this people has to eat the dead fish.
20 year old, but very nice short documentary about Papua. I was lucky to get see the birds of paradise, cassawaries, and komodo om Bali as I really could go further East to Komodo annd onto Papua just on my own. For that you adventure, you'll need specialized guides and guards that gets expensive though the protection services are necessary particully if starting out in the dangerous high crime city of Port Moresby. I guess what's probably changed the past 20 years on Papua is the sold a lot of forest for the Chinese to cut down exported to the West as lumber for things like American wooden buildings.
I'm ashamed to say the Bergmans, a New Zealand forestry company, had their fingers in the pie of devastating rainforest in foreign lands. I apologise on behalf of all Kiwis for what these mongrels did.
Are you sure that the lumber is exported to the West? that doesn't seem correct and perhaps, the Chinese are using the lumber for themselves but claiming they are exporting same to the West.
@@fredcarr3550 Could be. But I know most of New Zealand's Kauri forests got turned into houses in San Francisco back in the day.
@@fredcarr3550 no, most houses in China are like apartment blocks made almost entirely of concrete, not wood, those that are made of wood are usually very impoverished people who would not be able to afford to import wood. It can't be hidden either, we would be able to see them from Google Earth if China were lying about using lumber for their own.
@@paravatoloh5163 I was thinking that even though wood is a very good insulation against the cold, it's being used internally in the homes of the "top guys". Mere speculation of course, but the US and Canada both have ample supplies of wood.
I belive this movie is made more than 20 years ago since the narator said "recently Irian Jaya has been changed the name to Papua".
These are CANNIBAL PEOPLE ....ASK THE ROCKEFELLER FAMILY
You are right
The people and everything around them are natural.
And just very recently this area (Asmat tribe) is even not in Papua anymore, but newly formed South Papua province.
Since June 30th, Papua province is splited into 4 new provinces that is Papua (the original province), South Papua, Central Papua, and Highlands Papua.
I think the name change occurred in 2007, so the video must have been filmed after that.
Beautiful documentary.far better than modern nonsense video people posting nowadays
Great adventurous video.
Very intetesting video thank you so much you sir

why catch dead fish?
and why shoot dead bird?
is it their hunting traditions?
Oh my god I love learning about the history of these people thank you for sharing ❤️
Why? They contribute nothing positive to the human experience.
@@samizdat113 shutup Karen
@@samizdat113 Wow, that was an arrogant and rude response! You think you could survive in their territory with only the skills they know, without any Western housing, conveniences and tools and no clothes? No bug spray and medicine either. Bet you couldn’t, lol. They are just as important as modern people. They just live differently.

I grew up not far from here, d my parents actually still live in Papua.
your documentaries lets me see the world.
beautiful people . very nice slice ..
There's nothing beautiful about this cannibals
Yooo thx
But they can’t be too isolated if somebody is there videotaping them. You couldn’t do this with some South American tribes because they don’t have the immunity.
I wonder where he got those modern shorts from?
I love the old guy moaning.... "When I was a lad we used to hunt down our enemies and chop off their heads! Things just ain't the same anymore.".......or something to that effect.
Konten vidio yang bagus sekali👍
1000 years from now they will still be happy living like this. Amazing
If only that were true
That's even if earth is habitable by then..
They don't know anything else
@@heldermonteiro2718 Maybe that’s a good thing. They won’t fight over stupid 1st world “problems.” They get to live normal lives without crying about being misgendered or worrying about someone telling them they shouldn’t identify as a cat or whatever else. They are LUCKY to not have these ridiculous made up 1st world mental problems. They also don’t have to worry about gas prices, government overreach, taxes, and a whole bunch of other 1st world stuff we complain about.
In 1000 years, that island will be under water and the Asmat will be long forgotten
Thanks. Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies.

Wonder where they got their clothes?
From the clothes place
Wow amazing nice view and location bro..done watching and subscribe bro .from Philippines
Slice is nice
Amazing hunters. U see the strong teeth, muscular arms, hair on their head, even the older ones ? I think this is where 1 of the Rockefellas sons vanished. He was searching for masks and artifacts from around the world and tried to befriend the natives, even though he was warned.
Only if all of the Rocafellas would die.
A bunch of greedy devilish scum bags.
He tasted good though
His head made a royal artefact on the display of the chiefs.
Yellow teeth. They dont look physically healthy. Kids with bloated bellies.. not good.
Considering the footage from 1969 he probably became a member of the tribe, not food
Beautiful ❤️😍
When was this filmed?
Ever see that movie Apocalypto? Oh man that was some....
8:20 wow! What a great source of food!
Shooting a preprared strangled Kasuari or netting prepared dead fish are not so great for the quality of Slice.
I noticed that right away and stopped watching ..
You learnt something , documentaries are scripted.
To show it to the public, without having to make things time/space-complicated.
Budget etc
All nature documentaries are also staged and scripted.
The fish aren’t dead, they’re stunned.
I wounder if they choose to live like that or must.. what do u think?
I really like their headwear.
Beautiful Melanesië
He really snuck up on that Bird real quietly
Any speculation as to the fees for your stated adventure packages?

Nobody lives alone. What a curious concept.
And what a depressing one.
Certain places the offshore Oil Industry Ships and riggs would tell the workers dont be outside after dark falls , if you are somewhere stay there till sun up and never never be alone,,, travel with at least 3 or 4 in a group. You can windup in the. Cookpot…

6:27 min in... what’s up with ol’ girl’s arm, is that a growth or did her bicep get separated from the bone or something? The human body can be so resilient when it wants to be.
a juvenile flightless cassowary at slightly two arms distance a just made him a great hunter with two huge arrows on the bird.

Leave them alone!

world's biggest goldmine operated by u.s. corp freeport mcmoran
"leave them alone" because slice is the real world huh. watch some independence movement videos
I was wondering where do these nomad tribes get their shorts it looks factory made?
They not fully isolated. They made trade with another tribe. Indonesian government let them to live their way of life, yet some of the younger generation go outside their land to get education even service in military
The Gap..or old navy
It must be a pain in the a** to not be able to be alone and get some self time.
I think these tribal people are very clever I love to watch them
